Well, yes, but - who won GSL from their first try/ couple of tries? I mean it's supposed to be, like, insanely hard. It's supposed to take a lot of tries, which she goes through now.

I dunno. I don't see the GSL attempts as worthless. She's ambitious and aims high.

Congrats... by questioning Scarlett's passion (lol?) you've invalidated everything you say.

No one questions Scarlett's passion but someone tried to point out that hunting for WCS points is not as important as "passion" or whatever that even means. Well, I guess you can tell that to Blizzard so they can get rid of WCS altogether because why bother with the points when passion is the only thing matters, right?

No one wins GSL first try but no one competes at GSL only and skipping everything else unless they are not allowed to. No one wants to be one hit wonder like Seed or JJAJKI either. Winning something is always better than winning nothing. Limiting yourself to one single event is rather tunnel vision. Opportunity to compete with many top players (Korean or not) is always helpful. It is not like competing in KR Ladder is the only way you can get better.

I'm gonna stop here because you guys seem to take my concerns as negative stuff. I may as well shut up and let see how things turn out.

"No one questions her passion but points are more important" "no one this no one that" etc. is pretty negative, so, yeah.

I'm pretty sure beyond just practice env, she enjoys living in Korea. Saying, "if you aren't winning, there's no point in being a pro" is a bit silly. Of course you strive to win, but saying she's there's no point in her being a pro b/c she's not chasing wcs points is silly. If your job is the sole factor in your life then maybe but you have to remember they are people too. And nobody appreciates being told they're wasting their life just because they're not doing what you think is best for them.

Especially when you're talking about living in Korea being the bad thing. Or even not going to Austin. I'm sure she'd go if you want to pay for her flight and hotel but if not it's a calculated risk. Not to mention losing practice time during travel. This whole line of reasoning is really frustrating to read.

Personally, I don't value tournament wins unless they either have an exciting storyline to them or they have the very best competition. Korea obviously has the best and most difficult tournament, and if you're truly competitive, you would ONLY aim for that.

I do think it can be bad to expect too much from yourself, but if you ever have the desire to be the best (which is a completely understandable goal for a pro-gamer), you've got to play with the best, and prove yourself against the best.

Plus, prize money isn't the ONLY thing that matters. Not everyone is like Stephano.

It's called the Royal Road. Life and Zest come to mind as two who have walked it, there's probably others.
^Winning GSL on your first qualification.

Oh, and Maru walked the royal road for SSL + OSL.

But yeah, it is extremely rare and requires an insane amount of skill + lots of luck. Royal Roaders are about as common as GSL Multichampions, which is to say you can count all the ones still playing on one hand.

@Xtorn: Fruitdealer, Life, Dear, and Zest.

Also, <3s for Scarlett. Always excited to see her play. Wish it happened more often, but that's okay. You do you.

I don't see how taking strategic decisions on which tournaments you go to conflicts with passion. I don't know which decision is the best one in this situation, Scarlett would know that better, but it's not really related to passion imo.

Fruitdealer doesn't really count even though he technically won on his first qualification, because whomever won would automatically become a Royal Roader and it just so happened to be him.

That thumbnail, the ferociously bloodthirsty game face of Cloudy's nemesis. Really glad they've gotten to film so much, these get me so amped for GSL. Less than three weeks away!
