English translation by me: + Show Spoiler + WCG: As deep-rooted WC3 player: Do you think WC3 should be present on WCG together with SC2? HasuObs: Well, SC2 came like a bombshell into eSports, but WC3 fan community is still large. I could imagine both games beeing spectator magnets. Sadly, Europe would be very poorly staffed, since almost all good players switched to SC2. WCG: If both titles would be played in which one would you compete, and why? HasuObs: Definitly SC2. For me personally, WC3 is a closed chapter, I don't plan on playing WC3 competetively again. I had my culmination when I won my last EPS finals, now I completely focus on SC2. WCG: What did make you moving on to Blizzard's new game? Did you ever think of giving up on eSports completely? HasuObs: Hm, the last two, perhaps three, years of WC3 weren't that motivating to me. There were no new patches, and the strategies as well as the maps were stale to the last. Only the competition and great offline tournaments kept me in WC3. When then the number of tournaments quickly dwindled, I knew it was time to switch. With the end of WC3 I had that thought of quiting eSports, but fortunatelly SC2 soon casted it's spell over me. Fortunately I am not that bad now, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Further, there aremany offline events already, and due to the switch of games there are many new players to get to know! WCG: Soon, the qualifications of WCG 2011 will start. Sweden and Australia will break the first ground. With names like Jinro, Sjow and Thorzain in Sweden and Moonglade in Australia, who do you think will force through? HasuObs: Well, obviously I hope that Thorzain will prevail. After all he now belongs to Mousesports. He's also in TSL3 final and would definitly make a great representative for Sweden. In Australia Moonglade should be the biggest favorite. WCG: How do you estimate your German rivalry on your way to the grand finals? HasuObs: Germany's representation in SC2 is very strong, especially Socke and Goody are often competing for top ranks internationally. Also XlorD, TLO, Mondragon, Darkforce and some I forgot now will muscle in. WCG: Given you win the qualifier and qualify for South Korea, what would be your goal? HasuObs: In WC3, the goal always was to get through group stage. This is the minimum goal for SC2, too. But I believe that we Germans can reach a top 8 or even better placement in SC2. Naturally, a little luck belongs to it, but it should be possible. WCG: What countries do you see the most and as the strongest competitors? Do you have a Top 3? HasuObs: Hm, I think that Sweden, Korea, Ukraine and Germany are pretty strong right now. WCG: You are competitively viable since begin of beta, but your final breakthrough in SC2 seems to have been your victory against Dario"TLO"Wünsch on this years Cebit. Now, after a 3:0 victory against the ultimate Starcraft iconic figure, Lim 'BoxeR' Yo Hwan, you made it into TSL3 semi finals. How did you experience the last weeks and months? HasuObs: Of course I am happy about my good start into SC2. There were some problems right after the switch, but by now I have arrived in SC2 and like to compete with internationally competive players. I will compete in many offline tournaments in the future, and I hope that we (Mouz) will finally be able to win a team event. WCG: Of the German WC3 players, you seem to be able to deal best with the new RTS. What do you think is the reason for that? Do you think, that your WC3 career influences your SC2 playstyle? Was it hard for you to switch? HasuObs: Hm, most hesitated when SC2 was coming, and were very sceptical. But I was very glad that there finally was a new Blizzard RTS. Many of the former WC3 players are inactive now, and those who are still at it are doing pretty well. I gave it all right off the bat in SC2 to really understand the Game, maybe that's the reason why my switch went so well. WCG: How do you value the developement of SC2? HasuObs: Very positive. Many tournaments, many streams, much price money, many new faces. That's exactly what eSports needs, and since Blizzard is behind SC2, I'm very certain that we will have many more years of fun with SC2! WCG: What are your goals for 2011? Is there anything you absolutely want to win or participate? HasuObs: Well, now I have three very important games ahead, which are TSL3 Quarter Final [seems the interview is a little older, but he can still make it to rank 3!], EPS semi finals and ESL League finals. I want to make it to the winner's podium in all three, that's my highest priority for now. Otherwise, I obviously aim for WCG qualifikation. Representing Germany in Korea in the first WCG including SC2, who wouldn't dream of that? | ||
