The way the MLG system works, he had to win approximately 50 series to land that seed, no? Then he just had to beat nestea, huk and drg which are some of the best code S material players in the world.
I would have enjoyed seeing him play open bracket though. There's no way naniwa wouldn't have made it through OB the way he played this weekend. If he ran into leenock earlier, the series would clearly have looked very different as leenock would have had no idea what openings naniwa utilized pvz.
Naniwa won MLG undefeated from open bracket. Sure no koreans that time but he sure has proven that he could go far even if he went open bracket.
DId he really go 3-2, he only lost to lennock in the finals so was it not 3-1? Also to beat huk, DRG and nestea. And dont forget he won vs Nestea and MVP in the MLG GI.
The MLG system sucks but Naniwa does not have to apologize for that 2nd place. He deserved that!

I hope he's happy, I know he's a perfectionist and hates even coming 2nd even when he wins big prizes, but beating so many awsesome players over the weekend, winning the Invitational, getting Code S and winning about $30,000...what an amazing tournament, be proud, NaNiwa!
Well said. Looking forward to seeing you in Code S.

Not flaming, just wanted to leave a opinion seeing how everyone is saying how critisism is pointed to "GTFO", he did good and made it to finals with warp prism and forcefields.
Ever heard of this guy IdrA? Yeah. The hypocrisy on these sad fucks are just gross.
When did I say anything about IdrA being better at it? You're a prime example of a fan going blind towards hes idol, and ignoring facts / making shit up to back your point of (blind) view.
Point is, act like a douche, get treated like a douche. I'm glad people had guts to boo at him, maybe he realises that he should change hes behaviour.
Good player or not, should respect opponents.
Funny how IdrA is pretty much worshipped instead of being treated like a douche and consistently gets 10k viewers on his stream, huh?
Naniwa i forgive you for your attitude towards nestea if you do well in code S this time and don't disappoint us anymore! Gogo Naniwa! Your micro and 2 base execution are awesome, you just need to get a firmer grasp of the late game!

so there should be no rivalry? it's like mc thumb downing idra, completely same thing
Why do you keep pulling other occasions? None of them are more acceptable. MC is arrogant, IdrA is BM, neither are any better case.
And none of these has accomplished as much as say Nestea, if you do a sport, and constantly are worse than your some specific opponent, and when the one time happens when that opponent has a bad day/screws something up, would you consider it accepted if you acted arrogantly due to your one measly "bad day win" over him/her?
Soon you pull Deezer and combatez from your reason list and say that its cool to be like that.

You're using the slippery slope fallacy. Deezer and CombatEx's offenses are not comparable to those of NaNiwa, MC, IdrA, or any other household BM name. They are hated not because they are rude, but because they are guilty of cheating. Deezer stream snipes regularly, and although CombatEx is playing much cleaner of late, he's still hated because of his BW match fixing. Saying that they can be compared to NaNiwa is like saying that NaNiwa deserves to be banned from all SC2 competitive play ever because that's what they did to Savior. Deezer and CombatEx aren't rejected for their BM. They're rejected for their cheating.
OH MY GOD HE SHOWED THUMBS DOWN TO NESTEA! Grow a fucking pair of balls people, they (nani and nestea) are on good terms. Remember how MC does the thumbs down at evry chanse he gets? Nestea is no special little kid that needs your protection he is a grown ass man and can take care of himself.
I would seriously want to slap the shit out of you beta faggots sometimes. You sound like a bunch of women gossiping. Im sad that Nani actually made an apology-video he should just let you guys whimper on like the bitches you are. He just takes a code S spot and 30k to the bank. Congratulate him and move on with your life.
Naniwa is such a super baller, and I'm now trying to incorporate the naniwalk in my real life at every opportunity.
I love the guy, he's blunt, honest, hard-working and really, really talented. I went straight to play some protoss after watching him play, and I suck with that race.

That's just it though, versus zerg Naniwa has an amazing grasp of the game. You let a Zerg get 3 bases uncontested muchless four as a protoss you're dead. Zergs ability to stall, harass, kill a protoss player is just too good in the late game.
So Nani stopped zergs from ever getting there.
Naniwa showed amazing game play and long term knowledge in starcraft.
He wasn't rude he wasn't bad manner he was an awesome player and competitor this MLG and showed the rest of us how protoss should be handling the game.
Congratulations Naniwa - you're a goddamned monster.
Don't feed the trolls guys. And in before someone says they're not trolling but trying to state an opinion or argue a point: this is the Naniwa FanClub, so yes, you are a troll. Disliking a player and arguing why a player should be disliked is all good, do it somewhere else.
Reading TL threads give me such a headache sometimes.

since he came undefeated from the winners bracket into the finals, his first loss against leenock knocked him down to losers bracket where he automatically came back into the finals again to get a second chance where he lost again.
the 4:1 overall record was (i believe) a 2:1 and a 2:0 on the second try.
fun fact: naniwa could have won mlg with a losing-record against leenock by losing the first match in 2:0 fashion and then winning the second set 1:2 for an overall record of 3:2. but he didnt.

no, he would have to win with 4-3, when he lost 1-2 it became an extended series.
I can't wait to see my favorite protoss in Code S. His story is so inspiring, at Dallas 2011 in an interview (I think it was dallas, anyway) he talked about how his ultimate goal was to win a GSL. He's so much closer now, I can't wait for his goal to be achieved.
