After watching her in many casts, I gotta say, she passes.
Her accent is horrible but GomTV is clearly being used to push and explain Korean culture more and more, so it isn't surprising that they would accept someone like that. I think the worst one was "Oh, boy, FoxMoon is getting the liru. Liru. Leeeeerrr leer lairu? lairu??"
But she does actually seem to know the game fairly well, and I guess that's more important.
Also, she totally wants a piece of Tasteless.

I think the gender and ethnic diversity she brings to the scene is a huge bonus to her knowledge and game sense in her commentating. She's a good caster. Ya she's got an accent. And ya, she's a woman.
But I think the fact she's a woman is the more important reason so many people spring up to flame her. As much as the haters will deny it, I'm quite convinced that most Kelly bashers are genuinely uncomfortable with women in general..are lacking in the amount of companionships and or relationships they have with women.
And this discomfort gets intensified when a woman "invades" the comfort zone so many guys feel knowing they're a member of the (ALMOST) exclusively male sector of cyberspace revolving around starcraft. Unfortunately for them, we're no longer in elementary school, and the Starcraft scene isn't a boys only club. If people were to acknowledge and accept those last 2 notions, I think Kelly haters would be almost non-existent. That's my 2 cents anyway.

This makes no sense. Your literally just guessing and making excuses for why people bash her. Everyone who has a brain could care less that shes a woman. Think people are uncomfortable with women? Starcraft 2 scene has more women then you'd think, and the ones affiliated to tl are passionate.. we're so lucky...

No, I just watched it over and Tasteless asks Artosis, 'why do we sometimes call it "boo fame hellion?" and Artosis responds with "I don't because it's scary" and then the two giggle. At 7:50 Tasteless is poking fun at Artosis for saying it that way. It has nothing to do with Kelly. It's just Tasteless and Artosis messing around. As two why they mispronounce it sometimes. It's simple. You just talk a lot that your words start blending sometimes. Also, if you hang around people who have accents, you can start to pick them up. At least, I do.

On another note, I saw this picture on Kelly's facebook and I thought it was a nice picture and it's nice to see her outside of GOM with people who we recognize. It groups her in with them.

I wasn't being oversensitive lol. I think her accent is hilarious. I think that she has a lot to offer with casting for the purposes of bringing in new viewers from the SEA area and from other games, and I do believe that is what she is there for. Not for her voice or her knowledge of the game. Those are not her strengths by any means. Every caster has a different strength, and a different weakness. Tasteless has very low understanding of SC2 honestly, but he is highly entertaining and so rooted with the community, you just can't get rid of him. Artosis is biased and makes goofy calls, but his understanding of the game is astoundingly high. He can see that someone did a specific build order sometimes 5 minutes before the plan is obvious.
But generally, people should focus on the lows less, what makes the caster good. What makes her good is she can probably get the DotA and CS community from SEA into SC2. That is a good thing, more esports viewers.

I finally got around to renewing my season pass for GOMtv and was surprised at how well she did on her first day of Code A (the day with Huk, Losira, etc). She pointed out the obvious a few times, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for the growth of the scene. Beyond that, she had a good understanding of "if X then Y or Z" as well as informed knowledge of the playing styles of most of the competitors. As for her accent, it was generally understandable and I'm sure her pronunciation will only get better as she grows more comfortable in her role.

Do you really think SEA people are going to pay for and spend hours of watching starcraft just becuse one of the code A casters are from taiwan, "hey you guys this changes everything lets watch some god damn starcraft" i think not. Please take notice that people dont automatically like her becuse they are from the same region, for instance she has had very much negative feedback casting dota in the SEA area.
You also say that people from other games are becuse to switch over becuse of her and do you really think its a good thing that she has zero knowledge of the game (as you said yourself) for people trying to get into it? And please take notice you SEA people are a minority, most people are watching the english stream from Europe or America and in this situation you have to cater the majority. Lots of europeans and americans are saying that they are not buying the premium serive becuse the dont like/understand her. This also creates a problem when intorducing new people to starcraft, as liquid´tyler himself said "I would not show new people something casted by this girl" or sometihng similar on a SOTG some weeks ago
And to some above posters... what the hell is wrong with you? why are we so lucky about "having lots of females in the community" gender shouldnt matter, but maby you are just that sexist thinking girls are only good for looking at.
This is not the thread but quickly some about my personal opinion about kelly: i think she is a bit below average on a scale, nothing more and nothing less. But this is the biggest starcraft 2 tournament in the world and i think it deserve the best casters

The biggest problem with a lot of people is that they do not know how hard commentating is. For one, you have to constantly say something off the top of your head, have a clear voice, and analyze what is going on at the same time.
Sadly, the gaming community does not have many people to begin with, fewer people who know the basics of the game, and even fewer who can commentate. Look at a lot of the featured streams for poor commentary.

Agreed, it's not like there is some secret stash of Day[9]'s somewhere that all applied to and were rejected from GOM's casting interview process.
