This seriously isn't needed, you want to add asian diversity into a predominantly asian dominated scene? She isn't casting the IEM, she is casting in Korea.

I know some people are annoyed by her accent but i find it refreshing, energic and sincerley put; pretty damn cute.

So you are judging her merit not on her skill, but because she's a woman.

Most people probably dont realize this, but for being born and raised in singapore, her english is really really good.

But her accent sounds as thick as someone who has only been speaking English for a couple months and it is a pain to understand. This is the biggest factor of all about being a caster, if I have to focus on what you're saying then you're drawing my attention away from the game instead of augumenting my game viewing experience.

I dont think people realize how HARD it is for a person from her part of the world to learn to speak and understand english. As you might know, asian languages are fundamentally different from ours on the most basic level of speech; how you articulate speech. If you where to learn chinese or any other east-asian language you would pretty quickly understand the technical difficulities, because your vocal cords are not trained to the movements that those languages are built around, and it works the other way around. Listen to John for example, who is a very talented and hard working indivudual, but even he has a very hard time pronouncing certain words and phrases. I think its remarkable that kelly can speak and pronounce english so well and at such a fast pace (hehe) because most singaproreans could never come close to her level even if they trained for 25 years. SO WHAT if her pronounciation of some units/abilities is not perfect. She might say "Borrow" and "Steem" but its not like you dont understand that she is refering to Burrow/Stim.

Who cares. Zero relevancy to Starcraft. You are really scraping the bottom of the barrel here.

You get the message, so why be bothered?

Because having to expend a tidbit of brainpower to make out what she's saying instead of it naturally clicking is a huge problem.

2. She has unquestionable passion and joy for what she is doing. She radiates energy and her voice is filled with excitement and enthusiasm wich is refreshing and in my opinion makes the game more exciting to watch, and her interest in the game and what happens on the screen is very convincing.

Really? My experiences are that she is incredibly monotone and the only thing she honestly seems to be enthusiastic about is Tasteless.

3. She has already proved to be highly Observant, Catching small details and paying attention to everything that goes on.

You're amazed by this when it's basically the only responsibility she has other than parroting the calls of Artosis/Tasteless?

4. She has Improved with every set so far and i think its safe to assume that she listens to feedback. Some issues are easy to solve (talking slower) other things require more time and training (learning how to pronounce certain words/letters better) but im pretty sure that this girl will be a top-notch caster in a couple of months if we just give her time to improve and adapt to her new life in Korea.

Her accent is still as unintelligible as day 1 and that is the reason people don't like her.

i mean, how often do you get the chance to hear a cute girl from singapore commentate a game that you love? just think about that for a minute or two ^_^

Posts like this further emphasis that you are blinded solely by the fact that she has a pair of tits and you're giving her an easier time because of it.

If we had a male caster who spoke with as thick of an accent, you would not be crusading to defend him right now.

She's doing okay as a caster, she's just held to really high standards because artosis/tasteless have been so good.

To be honest, my heart gets a sinking feeling whenever I open GOMPlayer and find out she is casting. It's not because she's bad though, it's because I've really grown fond of tastosis.

I have a suspicion that her passion is not in starcraft, but rather in being buddy-buddy with the people around her. Does anyone else notice this?

No, her knowledge and passion for sc2 seems pretty apparent to me. Whether she is also trying to be friendly with her new co-workers is beside the point in my opinion.

Sign me up - she's been doing a pretty good job and definitely deserves some support considering all the crap people are giving her. I wouldn't mind seeing her stick around next season, too, though I guess a lot depends on whether they keep her with part of the archon or get another caster to pair up with her.

Sign me up - it's easy to get caught up in her excitement. She's got a pretty strong attention to detail - honestly Tastsosis weren't (wasn't? Is tastosis a singular or collective noun?) this attentive to detail in their first games at the GSL!

I'm wondering what GOM has planned for next season - would love to see Kelly + someone else be static code A casters - get a chance to build some synergy of their own and get away from the Tastosis hype. I actually was really surprised when they apparently only had 1 new caster instead of a new pair for this season.

I get the feeling many still don't know that the first language of Singaporeans is English. It's not that hard for us to be speaking English. The problem comes because on this part of the world we also speak other languages and so our accents are very different from that of the West.

I don't really like what you've said here though. As a true-bred Singaporean I believe our command of English is way better than that. I quite refuse to accept the perception that Singapore has a bad command of English. To me, most of us are as good as everyone else in English speaking countries. The only difference we actually have is the accent.

Now you know how Greg Fields.

I like her. Her first commentating wasn't good, but it's definitely getting better - fast.
And I had no problem listening to her in the last broadcasts.
