Although I certainly don't think she was the best choice for the casting job, I think she's doing a pretty damn good job of trying to conform to advice. (After the initial fiasco) Don't sign me up, but at least she's trying.

Count me in, I really like her casting and agree she adds content.

On another note, I really think you should change the OP. This shouldn't be about defending her from accusations that are baseless and stupid. Just ignore them. Ditch the "support group" part of the thread, both in name and content. Stick with the highlight reels, the why she is awesome...

To be honest, from growing up on a farm in the rural midwest and never having visited a different country(when you live in Michigan Canada doesn't count) I don't have any issues understanding her. It's not Tasteless and Artosis but at the same time, she's doing fine and getting better with every cast. You're doing fine Kelly, keep up the good work.

Honestly I was quite worried based on the interview before the season started, but it turns out that was for nothing, she's an excellent caster, and adds a lot to the games. Also Kelly helps change things up from just being Artosis/Tasteless every game, which I didn't even realise would make watching the GSL better before I actually saw it. Sign me up.

Sign me up! I liked her when she first did it, and she only got way better, especially when she tries talking a bit more slowly! Hope she stays on for future seasons and gets some extra gigs in between.

I love you guys *-* idk what to say. I love the pokemon card and encouragement and I will work so much harder. I might have been a bit overexcited in Huk's game last night but don't blame me. It WAS exciting. I was standing up and casting that #o#;;!!

she is okay with me. I really dont understand why all this Kelly hate is getting blown out of proportion. She has a accent, yes we all understand that but it's not like shes speaking a foreign language. Her english is still understandable even when she gets excited and speaks really fast(most of the time, I only recall once or twice when I scratched my head and asked myself what was just said).

The only thing that's bothering me is Kelly and Tasteless, those two just don't cast well because they both take the same role where Artosis does all the explaining and predictions. I find it pretty amazing how she's dealing with the criticism (more like insults) so well from a community that wants starcraft to grow.

She's also speaking better from what I saw last night. I missed a Code A round or two and realized immediately that she's slowing down and trying to enunciate her words.

The only thing I do have to say is it sounds like shes not putting emotions to her words. they sound very monotone and have no excitement. Take a look at the korean commentators they sometime scream so much that you can hear them through the english commentators mics.

Nothing against Kelly, but aren't

I know this girl gets a lot of bashing and i know some of you might want to accuse me of "White-Knightery" for starting this group or even protecting her, but i want to emphazie that i geniuinley like her as a Caster and i can assure you that it has nothing to do with "weeaboism" or "asian girl fetischism" or anything like that.

and

1. She adds much needed diversity and colour to the scene. As much as i love tasteless and artosis and every other american caster/commentator, it gets tedious after a while to always listen to american/european males talk and analyze the games. I know some people are annoyed by her accent but i find it refreshing, energic and sincerley put; pretty damn cute.

inherently contradictory? You don't like her because she's female and Asian... you like her because she's not white and not male and cute?

Edit: =P As a female Asian caster I sure as hell want to be liked for my casting/commentating ability and absolutely not at all because of "diversity."

Kelly has shown huge improvements; you can really tell she's working on her speech as well as researching players before casting--give her props for that instead.

P.S.

I dont think people realize how HARD it is for a person from her part of the world to learn to speak and understand english. As you might know, asian languages are fundamentally different from ours on the most basic level of speech; how you articulate speech.

English is one of Singapore's official languages and is the primary language used to teach in school. Careful about your generalizations about "her part of the world."

No they aren't inherently contradictory. The first statement is asserting that his devotion to her is not sexual/creepy in nature (hence use of the word fetish). The second statement asserts that people of a different nationality and background are worthwhile additions to the Tasteless/Artosis team.

Does this clear shit up for yo?
