I'd say meh, since she really didn't stand out in their MV. Yea, you hardly notice her if it wasn't for the what, 5 seconds? of close-up time she got. It's almost like they're trying to sneak her into the group and be "zomg i hope nobody notices anything different!" Wish Min was playing on PC though, kinda feel like BOps' longevity is kinda meh for the previously MW2 enthusiasts. Also, anybody having any luck with finding "Heroes" subs? the fact that SHSubs being "responsible" for subbing and detering any other groups from doing the same hurts me to the soul (.

I mean you know what's up when a 5 year old can do better

Now everyones trying to come up with a simple dance move that they hope will catch on and boost the group's popularity.

White girl who loves kpop talks about Mnet launching a new channel dedicated to promoting Asian music in America. She discusses about ethnocentric fandom and racism against westerners in the Asian pop world. What do you guys think?

I think this girl "linerdinzer" is just bitter that she's white. It's pretty easy to compare her to white kids (you've all met/known one or two) that consider themselves part of the hip hop culture but can't quite assimilate completely because of their 'whiteness'. She has an issue with Mnet catering to "Asian Americans" but really, who else would Mnet cater to? Who demands kpop/"Asian pop" on American airwaves? Koreans and Asians, right? It makes a lot of sense to advertise heavily to their TARGET demographic. I see no problem in targeting advertisement, and it's not as if Mnet is saying "you can ONLY watch this if you're Asian." Didn't really care for her delivery, editing, or squinty eyes either. Meh.

-MNet doesn't give a shit if your feelings, my feelings, or her feelings are hurt. Their number one concern has been, and always will be, the bottom line. If the only way to make their artists popular in western countries is to ignore the Caucasians in their marketing, they will do it. Morally, it may be wrong, but from a business perspective, I think the ad campaign does it's job. Se7en couldn't break into American audiences becuase he tried to hard to appeal to broad audiences. Focusing on their strengths, the Asian market, works a lot better than trying the "please everyone" approach. The intro video and website's language sells the product well to the only market MNet thinks will buy: Asians. -I like kpop because I do. I don't have to justify why I like kpop, or any music that I do. The fact of the matter is that most people out there don't get a chance to discover music all that often. Most people's exposure of music is friends, radio, TV. Lamenting Big Time Rush and saying "you guys should like this!" is pointless, as people don't have the time and are unwilling to put in the effort into finding new music, and that's their prerogative. Never have I seen anybody say anything remotely close to "well sure these songs sound the same but I like shinee's version better because it's kpop" (anybody rational anyway). The same thing goes backwards too. How about she ask some Big Time Rush fans "why don't you like shinee's Amigo?" and see the responses. -What does kpop being a subculture have to do with anything? None of us are that hipster to stop liking kpop as soon as it gets popular. Even within kpop, I've seen a lot of groups get positive and negative reactions among my friends, and it has never been "2PM's new song sucks, they're too POPULAR", it has always been "I don't like 2PM's new stuff, I think it sounds bad." If kpop gets popular with western audiences, great. But it won't change anything.
