To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |

1) I don't pick favorites rest are irrelevant.
I don't know why you need so much reinforcement on this subject. Obviously you're worried that you're too obsessed over this person that you don't even know, so essentially an object, so you continue to ask people if it's okay for you to act this way about an object. You could easily do research on obsession and compulsiveness, but that would yield a result of the answer you don't want.
Try to go a week without looking at anything Nicole or Kara. If you can't do it or if the thoughts about either one cloud your mind, then you have a problem. But you should already know if you're that type of person, the obsessive and/or compulsive. Just think about everything you do. How many things consume you like this does? How many times have you been so taken by something to need to discuss it or think about it all the time?

yes yes yes yes
like 15-20% of my hard drive space is devoted to one particular group, and I'm sure you all know which one it is... if that's not obsessive i don't know what is. tbh i'm not even as into them as some other people here. i would say obsession because i do think about them sometimes and listen to almost exclusively to their music unhealthy only because i don't have a working ext hard drive and this shit is taking up all my fuckin space

I would go as far as to say T-ara are my favourite Kpop group, but really it's down to liking the music. I also have a bit of a thing for Sojin from Girl's day, which has lead to me having a girl's day desktop a couple times, despite finding their music pretty bad.
Been listening to more ballads/indie stuff recently, but I still rock T-ara on my mp3. I can be obsessive about things, but kpop never seemed to get it's claws in me that way.

Hyuna in that 4 minute picture! Cute + sexy is such a deadly combination. Almost opposites but somehow it's so perfect. I think it's probably one of the reasons I find koreans so attractive.

Guess I'll have a go as well then: Quiz time for TuElite!
Do you feel your feelings towards your "bias", favorite Idol or favorite group are obsessives? + Show Spoiler +Honestly, it's varied for me from time to time. I've went through some periods that's been a little over-distractive, like having Jessica's hair burnt onto the inside of my eyelids for nearly a month, along with other similar stuff for other girls later on. Right now... I'm probably a little obsessed, yes; I check a bunch of different websites concerning Nicole nearly ten times a day for updates etcetetera, so yeah that would probably count as a bit of stalking. Other than that though, I currently just casually follow all my other biases (Nothing creepy that is), but I can keep my self-control about them. All of this will probably change in time yet again though.
Would you consider it an obsession and/or an addiction? + Show Spoiler +Essentially whenever I don't have anything to do for a few minutes, or I've alt+tab'ed down from whatever I'm playing, I have about 7-8 different tabs constantly open on my browser, all concerning news from different locations (Not only kpop related that is.), then I just hit F5 all over the place. About half of these are about Nicole, so I guess the constant need for updates would be considered an addiction, however the main reason I do it so often is not because I can't stop thinking about her every single second, but rather because I have the tabs open, so why the hell not check for updates right away, it takes like 2 seconds. Then again, despite that, every single letter of the alphabet whom has one of Nicole's fansites as it first letter are my most visited website for that letter, so I guess I'm visiting them more than I realise the regular way as well... oh well, I can live with that.
Maybe you would rather categorize it as a passion? + Show Spoiler +Well I sure hope so! I don't want to have gone through all this fandom only to find out afterwards I didn't like it enough. I'm not too worried though. As I said in my 5k post/blog quite extensively, kpop means something else to me, it's a passion in itself. Whether that extends to my biases is a matter of perspective, but I would say it does; the performers are the pillarstones after all. If I look back let's say 5 years or so, in other words before I started the grand adventure of Team Liquid/StarCraft Progaming/Kpop, this so-called passion of mine would seem impossible. But it's not. Kpop... well it has this magical aura of happiness about it, I guess you can say. I mean, regardless of how much you're actually enjoying whatever you're watching/listening to, it's nigh impossible to not at least walk away with a smile on your face. Thus, if it no longer is a question of Kpop being positive or negative, but rather of how much of a positive impact it'll have on you, then it litterally can only be a good thing. Because of that, I see absolutely no reason as to why I should not be proud of being a fan of all this and, in extent, without a doubt call it a passion of mine.
Do you think it's a unhealthy passion/obsession? + Show Spoiler +That depends on how you see it. On one hand, it's obviously a huge time-consumer. Also, these kind of addictions are always a bit risky as to how your friends will react to it. On the other hand, like I stated above, kpop is a beautiful thing that makes you very happy with life itself quite simply. As far as individual obsession goes, then that might be a little harder to convince your friends of it being normal, as it can be seen as a little creepy, however you have to remember that if you ignore the fact that your bias is kpop related, then it will be totally normal. I mean celeb-crushes in general are common, musical ones especially. Just because yours come from a little different background, that doesn't change anything really. As for me, well I was fortunate enough to be able to win over about half a dozen friends of mine to kpop after maybe a year since I first showed it to them. Sure, some of them don't really listen to it on their own that much, but they can respect that I do it anyway. As far as my bias-obsessions go... well that's a little harder, but there's still a couple that think it's cool, and you know what? That's all I really need to confirm that this is all good; I can't expect everyone to be as crazy as I am, so if acceptance is all I can get, then that's fine with me. Thus, nowadays, I spend a lot of time on this thread along with other kpop related fansites, I have a lot of wallpapers in my desktop rotation containing Korean celebs (Mostly SNSD), I have Nicole as my cellphone background, the list goes on. In other words, I'm victim to constant exposure to the Korean wave these days... but I love it. I refuse to see it as an unhealthy passion if it brings me this amount of happiness. Admittedly, the very same argument could be said for drugs, alcohol and whatknot, but this is different. This is poetry in the making, and me becoming involved in it has been one of the best decisions of my life. Call it addiction, obsession, or even stalking, what do I care, all I need to know is that I'm not hurting anyone with my actions, and I love what I do... because in the end, that's what you're really looking for... to be happy... and that is something that my "passion" definitely succeeds in doing, so I would without a second thought call it a very healthy obsession for my sanity.
...and that's it. Hope you found something of what you were looking for my friend

Swear we talked about reddit names with you too! We discussed Hall0wed and pulsel0l or something! I swear we did!
Do you feel your feelings towards your "bias", favorite Idol or favorite group are obsessives? Yes Would you consider it an obsession and/or an addiction? No Maybe you would rather categorize it as a passion? Yes, I look up to them. Do you think it's a unhealthy passion/obsession? No, idolizing people can have its benefits. If they went through similar hardships, you can relate and gather strength from that. Think we had a few tearjerker stories before in this thread.

Seriously though, I don't see any amount of fandom sufficient to justify that.
