I think Love Hina is similiar setting (if not identical). You can also cram more people into 1 room but it doesn't feel like the same atmosphere and become generic SoL (Rokujouma no Shinryakusha)

Love Hina was a fun read (manga at least, never watched anime).

I didn't know you can use forum threads as instant message. I only read the first volume of the manga. It seems the anime moved the order of things around to make the plot easier to follow.

Thinking about Love Hina nowadays..... I can't imagine that one has aged well, since it was so early.... it has crazy amounts of tropes and predictability. It reminds me of that joke about Hamlet. "I don't know what the big deal with Hamlet is, it's just one famous saying after another, strung together by a moldy old plot."

seen both love hina (or at least a chunk of its episodes) don't think i will like love hina even rewatching it(it's harem with plenty of slapstick comedy afaik not exactly what i'm looking for) and sakurasou
silver spoon that one i haven't seen(will probably dive in on this one if there is no other recommendation)
not gonna watch Rokujouma no Shinryakusha aside from being a harem it has fantasy elements. I just want a straightforward SoL

Friendly reminder for everyone to watch Lucky☆Star

Yeah and Sent should do a rewatch.

Moyashimon is not my type. Hanasuka Iroha seems like an all-girl show like K-On don't wanna watch one atm. My friend kept talking to me about Sora yori mo Tooi Basho(Not watching an all-girl show ATM) Idk if my 2nd try with Honey&Clover will change my mind and push through even if i don't like the character design of the main girl. Seen Special A Not sure if i wanna watch Mikakunin atm (though i know i like that show)
Ok so 3gatsu(seems legit and i often see it being talked around this thread), Genshiken or Silver Spoon. Tnx for the plenty of recommendations

I forgot how tilting reading Goody can be. Why do you do this to us. Hanasuka Iroha is just amazing. Honey & Clover is fantastic.

as much as I have recently learned that disagreeing with anything I see here is more fun/better for a person's overall sanity, I can't disagree on the part that Hanasaku Iroha is pretty great. It's not an all-girl show either.

I watched a couple of Hanasaku Iroha episodes but left it when the Inn owner started physically assaulting this girl and this was regarded as ok. Broke the suspension of disbelief and though the light effects was great, and didn't feel any connection the to characters after that.

Alright so Hanasuka is not an all-girls show. MaL can be misleading all i see from the cast are girls(so is it's show image)

Honey&Clover may be amazing(i don't really know) but i dislike the female leads looks and even her personality(or so far as i've seen).

Hanasaku iroha is probably second closest to what you were asking for after silver spoon (out of shows listed). The main cast are girls, but there's a decent amount of supporting (male) characters that do idiot things or are a part of several love polygons.
To hammer home the point others already said, it's nothing like k-on lol.
Not sure how you'd feel about 3gatsu then, it's by the same author as honey and clover. (still good though)

It's a show about characters growing. That's not particularly far fetched for old generation grandmother in charge of a family business. There are some silly moments but overall it's pretty grounded. Really one of the best coming of age stories out there.
Honey and Clover is really great college life character story. Having pined after a girl a little in my university days that now is marrying a close friend of mine it may hit closer to home than most others.

I began watching hanasaku iroha but the way MC was treated by most characters at the start made me stop watching, i didn't drop it but i had to stop watching because i was honestly just beginning to dislike most of the cast. I'll probably return to it eventually.
I don't believe that a person's actions can be excused by them being old, sure it might be the explanation, but MC was treated so poorly it left a very bad taste in my mouth.
You can write a character to be strict without them coming off as cold, heartless and frankly cruel. It just becomes offputting and frankly makes it impossible to ever make the grandmother a likable character. It's not like i'm just gonna suddenly forget how she treated MC.

Yeah i'm more discouraged on Honey&Clover now. I don't need reminding of that kind of feelings tyvm
Guess i'll start with one of the anime nagi suggested. If none of the anime works for me i can always rewatch Maison Ikkoku

Love Hina is the true harem-with-a-loser-MC classic.

If you don't watch silver spoon you're just making a mistake honestly.
Silver spoon holds a dear spot in my heart because i could relate to the main character to a scary degree in way too many aspects. It's just a great series and Aki is an amazing and very well developed love interest.
Hiromu Arakawa is a great author. (Same author as FMA for anyone that might not know)
