I think the best part about A Very Merry Christmas was how that might as well as have been a Japanese version of Hunt For Red October in terms of the submarine warfare, except a bit more magical
and lol, if you ever see the additional informations on the worldview and setting that he just randomly stuffed in for one of the short story vols, you'd be amazed. Definitely haven't seen as much detailed background information since like, the Appendix for Lord of the Rings.
As for the hat turn, yeah, it is unconscious.
Where are you finding short story translations btw? I'd like to stuff my friend with those too. Having the story of Sousuke's pet tiger done though is really good to hear, those who just jumped into the long stories might be confused as to how the white tiger just randomly appeared. Actually the whole thing with the Tiger and Mao came before the short story for the tiger iirc.

So I read the stories about Kalinin, Mardukas, and Sousuke's pet tiger. Thinking back to Always, Stand by Me, weren't Kalinin's last words the same as Sousuke's mother? Because that's horribly depressing. I guess it was a throwback to just how Kalinin really was the parent Sousuke never had.
Being able to see their universe diverge from our history was pretty cool.
It's impressive how much research the author did for these stories. Heck, the only other novels I've ever read that get as in-depth as FMP in terms of submarine engagements are all written by Tom Clancy. Nobody ever seems to mention the awesomeness that is the Crazy Ivan.
I always thought Mardukas' hat turn was done on purpose, but supposedly it's done subconsciously? By the way, it looks so bad when he does it with his Royal Navy hat -_-
I need more of these stories, but it's so hard to find translated versions...

No, the best part of A Dancing Very Merry Christmas is where the author crushes the hopes and dreams of an entire fanbase. I laughed so hard at that part.
Actually as a Tessa fan I was pretty glad, the series was going in such a way that it was an impossible pairing and the author managed to made it as acceptable as possible. Seriously who in their right mind can even pretend such a pairing would work out for FMP =p
I've gotten around to playing Chaos;Head finally. I'm about 6h into it and I'm beginning to think this is some kind of sick twisted joke. I've been saving around each time I had to choose the pulse delusions thingy. I got 17 saves right now and I'm in chapter 4 "Di-Sword". Since the start I've been choosing the green pulse, but I'm beginning to think it was a bad choice. Furthermore, I believe no pulse at all is the right choice. The delusions (the green ones) has becomes increasingly creepy and fetish'ish? What started with a "teehee indirect kiss with sis" turned into "S&M foot masturbating fantasies" what. the. fuck. Seriously creeping me out. Not to mention the hero is a --total-- oddball. He communicates in grunts, moans and crazy-laughs mostly. He is helpless and hopeless. He absolutely takes NO action what-so-ever, ever. I think this kind of story(psychological) is better suited to the red pulses that mostly resemble murders, than green ones which are mostly ero, fantasies which IMO totally don't belong in this kind of theme.
The VN is longer than I thought it would be. I just hope to God to never run into this kind of protagonist ever again in future VNs. Makes me lose my faith in humanity. Right now I'm just hoping one of those girls will actually kill him off soon, because I cannot bear his twisted warped sense of reality any more. Makes me want to puke.
VNs are pretty long, the majority of them tend to be at least 30 hours of reading. I think Muramasa ended up clocking it at some 50-60 hours, that was epic.
N+ and 5pb have some obsession with CNB main characters, mweh. At least SG's MC isn't as bad as C;G, but yeah, you basically summarized why I despised C;G and couldn't get into it. The MC is a huge turn-off. SubaHibi had a similar issue in one chapter, as did OreTsuba, but those were chapters and fit into the grand scheme of things. I dunno, CNB is a pretty popular topic for otaku-targeted stories these days.
I am watching Ergo Proxy (episode 5). It hasn't that 'wow' factor that some other anime do have, but it seems like a really deep anime. Has anyone watched it already?
After reading Sunny (1 vol by Imamura Youko) I definitely feel like some of the better works these days in the manga industry are short one-shot-ish stuff. I keep reading some nice short one-shots that just... are good. I dunno. It's weird how that works, eh.
The impulse system thing are actually the flag triggers in chaos;head, I'd suggest finding a walkthrough before going insane. And of course, I think I should have an obligatory link to another image, or a flowchart for Steins;Gate.
Any before any further complains, I did warn about chaos;head's protagonist On my first readthrough I thought he was completely hopeless lol. Steins;Gate's Okabe isn't much better, but there the main female lead exerts a lot more control and the plot moves along much faster. Still, some of the dqn moments are pretty damned painful.

Part of it is probably because how they actually end instead of go on for a year unnecessarily.

Too late. Already went insane. Wasted 10h without walkthrough, but found one now -.-, might redo relatively soon or at a later date ~.~ depends when I'll regain my sanity...
Fag not wanting to save sister, and instead listening to imaginary Seiran-waifu voice in head = wanted to push him off that building maiself.
Actually before Makise Kurisu starts to dominate the steins;gate plot, I'd say that s;g's protagonist is harder to endure than c;h. The latter at least more or less keeps it to himself, whereas in s;g we have to read Okabe interact with others in that way. Urg.

Ryoto's Huckie Boxer is pretty cool, in one scene I was like is that an Attack List I see him selecting?
lol yeah, he selects attacks from a list, just like in the games. It even listed the attack power like the games did lol
They did a good job combining the White Star incident with the escape from the Moon. Last episode when they said the Mk.III was canceled had me really worried that Huckebeins were completely out, and then then episodes comes with the "EXbein", which is just the Mk.III without a V-crest on the head.
Next episode should be great too, since its the TLI episode. Cybuster for sure, and hopefully Astelion and Trombe.
oh yes! Trombe! well I don't see the Calions yet. so Astelion won't be out that soon i think
We had Calions in that simulation early on, when they had a mock battle against the Grungust Type2. Plus, in the games at least, this is close to when the Astelion made its debut.
The Astelion made its debut before they even met up with the Hiryu, when Ibis, Masaki, and Ratsel fought off that one Inspector chick right after TLI was captured. At least, it shows up in the same mission as Cybuster did.
I haven't seen a Phantom Phoenix yet....Valsione didn't use Cross Smasher =/ and Shine/Lat really needs her Fairlion Hey atleast we see the big 4 =D Dyzengar is just a more =D
Well, I imagine they will have Phantom Phoenix somewhere down the line with Lamia vs Axel. Same with Cross Smasher, since she and Masaki are like the Rivals for the Inspectors. Fairlions will probably be pretty soon, too. They already have shown the designs for them, and Shine wanted to tell Latooni about them a few episodes ago, and we are probably only 2-3 episodes away from the episode where they try to retake Riksent.

Ergo Proxy tries to be deep, and (imo) fails pretty hard. It seemed more like pretentious nonsense to me than a show that actually raised any interesting questions or made interesting points.
Strange filler episode, told from different perspectives. Lots of fanservice and Elsie. Very enjoyable, but had nearly nothing to do with the series so far, except for the characters.
Just finished Now and Then, Here and There. Good god, what kind of ending is this? D: If there's one thing I don't understand about this story though, it's why on earth anyone bothered listening to Hamdo. The guy's clearly nuts.
