But my two cents on School Days: Only thing fun about it is the ending. Everything else is just "meh". And today as I started watching Bakemonogatari 15... I remembered: Why did I like this show in the first place? Perhaps it's the fact that it took a 15 episode series an entire year to finish that brought about that thought, or maybe the frustration that none of the wordplay worked in English. | ||

Your taste changed, probably? Nishio Ishin's writing is really driven by characters and humor rather than event and plot. Bake definitely give you a lot of think about, but to get to that point, we have to go through a few minutes of Araragi sexually harassing Hachikuji, Nadeko hitting on Araragi, etc. That really isn't a problem as long as you can laugh at it, really, but not all of us might find it interesting. And in the case of Bakemonogatari, due to how episodic the events are, there is very little plot connection, so even less attraction for some people. Translation also hurts a ton, I've noted before how I thought it was a brilliant play for Shaft to just stuff quotations in, so many puns in Bakemonogatari are visual based rather than sound. The latter is already difficult enough to understand for non-speakers, the former is nigh impossible. Now follow that up with the references being on the most obscure side of things than most...yeah. Also, whenever Gahara-san doesn't appear Nishio Ishin is forced to fall back on moe (which is one of the reasons I love having Kanbaru around, she might well be the character least reliant on moe after Gahara-san), and that just doesn't sit well with some. EDIT - I just remembered that bungaku shoujo ova 1 should be out around now, by that I mean it has shipped, and damn, no raw. Now to make the painful decision of shipping it early or not. | ||

I decided to start watching more of Jun Maeda's works since those 4 shows were vaguely the only ones that interested me in the OP's pic. Are any of his other works worth watching? Some recommendations maybe? Not just Jun Maeda's works but anything really. Can be older since I only started actually following this thread last season, so maybe I missed some gems along the way. | ||

 @Latham: Do give B Gata H Kei a chance. The premise may sound dumb, the beginning may be a bit silly, but like Working!! it does pick up. And as for KyoAni, yes it's short for Kyoto Animations, and the only one you have to worry about is Kanon. Kanon (2006) is made by KyoAni (I forgot who made the other version). | ||
