WHAT THE FUCK. I thought the same thing I'm only halfway and the all the facepalm is giving a raging headache If you're only halfway there is nothing to be "WTF'ed" about. Come back when you have seen the last episode. However, I do agree that the situation is quite facepalm deserving.
seriously? oh god.... edit: just got done with ep7, was about fucking time she caught on to what was happening -_-

I love it every time someone comes in here having finished School Days for the first time...absolute gold every time lol.

I have no problem trying to pick up speaking/understanding the language, ive already done a little but.. the whole kanji stuff looks quite damn difficult to me No more difficult than most languages, just that here you write a ton in repetition and there you try to memorize a ton more with variations. Once you get the basics down, radicals are enough for you to piece out most words, and the ability to use context to derive meaning still works. If anything, kanji makes Japanese much easier after the initial period of learning.

Ruin your hopes in civilization and do it
honestly, it just feels like the worst case scenario ever. The biggest display of naivety surrounding extreme adult themes. It will break your soul. You'll watch a couple minutes and wonder what the fuck you're doing, but you won't stop. cause you never know what's gonna happen. and then you start thinking. and what you thought happens against all human odds. you just don't want it to happen but it does. and you rage. and apparently the rage is endless. I'm only 3/4 through it and yeah, I think a bit of me died inside even if I'm rolled up in a little ball repeating that it's only a work of fiction.
just kidding, best story ever!

I don't know what all of you are talking about, school days is a great show
|
by the way I'm reading the manga along, is it me or does the anime feels more rushed? like obviously some events won't be the same in the anime compared to the manga (just like movies with books and (lol) games) but some important events are completely different in the anime compared to the manga + Show Spoiler [some examples] + like how in the manga Sekai confesses and it's a rather slow corruption whereas in the anime she's much more aggressive and lewd to tempt Makoto and the "practice" thing? and the "it's not wrong cause we both like it" thing? and uh, idk. the manga feels much more moderate than the anime
that or im hallucinating from the rage?

Lol SwEEt, you don't have to care about the first 11 episodes. Really, all you have to do is support them for the grand finale.
Also keep in mind that the show and the manga both come from a game where you can make some choices...

I took courses while in college, though most of my improvement came from after I had enough basic skills to just read away like mad, considering all that took was one semester, I didn't really think the language was too difficult.
I'd almost go as far as to say English was harder for me lol.
Pacing of anime for School Days was definitely faster, not that it is a problem since everything eventually works out that way anyway if you follow the route in question, or so a friend told me. Surprisingly, I never bothered with School Days the game.

Ecael...I think you had a significant head start as a native Chinese speaker, lol.
I know picking up Japanese would be easy enough for me as well with my background in Korean, since the languages are so similar in spoken word, but I'm just too lazy to put the time in -_-.

I think you overhyped the ending at least for me
the double yandere + Show Spoiler [yaho!] +was gore but idk, all the psychological warfare going on before made it seem like "oh, another crazy scene. what's next? ah, more of it. hmkay." + Show Spoiler [climax of the story] +the whole psycho Kotonoha act was predictable although I was expecting her to finish it when Sekai went back to Makoto's house to see if Kotonoha was there. the Sekai stabbing Makoto was pretty lulz though.
the yacht scene made me laugh though
I think I'll come out stronger out of this but oh gawd the trip was something.
this should be recommended in the OP, haha.
edit: + Show Spoiler [manga spoilers] + HAHA GOGO PSYCHOSEKAI nuff said

Honestly, I don't know, it is nice to be able to laugh at kanji and just move along, but not really. The Chinese definitions and pronunciation is usually completely different from the Japanese. In the end, to figure out what a word means, I found myself using dictionary or context much more than I did my ability to read kanji. The ability to look at characters and just know roughly what it might mean is nice, so is the fact that there is no effort spent on recognizing kanji, but I don't know if it is such a decisive factor.
In my experience, my Korean-speaking classmates often did the best and looked like they put in the least effort, followed by Chinese-speaking ones, followed by those with no other language backgrounds, with the gaps being pretty small. We did notice some distinctions on the tests, where the Koreans would own up grammar and most vocabs and all of the Chinese speakers but me do great on kanji writing (that reads sad tale of someone who hated writing Chinese and so moved to US), but if we look at kanji reading and definition there is very little difference. With Hangul's use of Chinese characters being pretty rare, I don't really think that Chinese was that big of a dealbreaker. Though I did enjoy a significant edge when it comes to seeing kanjis for the first time in class, but that was purely due to reading more material than others.

I'm currently in Japan, and watching some anime with subs in addition should help my Japanese out. I just have a really hard time finding good series in the jungle of anime crap.
If I would be looking for anything specific I would want to go for some sports anime with martial arts theme, with the same feel as Hikaru no Go or Hajime no Ippo. But since I've been looking around for something like that for a long time and found nothing I'd be surprised if you find something like it that is good.
Other than that I like Hikaru no Go, Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist mainly. Anything with similar styles/quality would be nice.
(if this thread is not for asking people for recommendations, sorry, ignore my post). You might want to try: Shion no OuSakiGrappler Baki + Grappler Baki 2 Busou RenkinHistory's Strongest DiscipleCode GeassBtw have u also watched Hajime no Ippo: Champion Road, Hajime no Ippo: Kimura vs Mashiba, Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger ?? Downloading history's strongest disciple atm. The plot sounded promising. Seems I've actually missed the extra stuff for hajime no ippo. What is the right order to watch them? slam dunk. manga is much better but maybe you'll like the anime + Show Spoiler [plot summary] +Sakuragi Hanamichi is a junior high punk used to getting into fights and being rejected by girls but upon entering high school he meets the girl of his dreams, Haruko Akagi. He will do anything in order to win her heart including joining the school basketball team that is aiming to conquer the nation lead by Haruko's brother. The problem is that Sakuragi has never played basketball before and a freshman sensation is stealing the spotlight and Haruko's affection from him.
unfortunately there isn't much in the way of sports/martial arts that is actually watchable. i managed to finish history's strongest disciple and grappler baki (vomit) but theyre not that good imo (sorry tenryu). give them a shot anyway, maybe you'll like them
watch full metal alchemist: brotherhood if you havent already. it follows the story of the manga and as a result is much better than the original series. the first 5 or so episodes are similar then it goes a completely different direction
they need to turn vagabond into an anime

Thats ok, i noticed that most people either like or dislike those two. The manga for both are much better, as usual -_-

Bakemonogatari 15 is split into part A and B. Huh.
Genshiken 2 doesn't seem to cover the last part of the manga. Has there been any word of a third season or another OVA series?
Edit: Oh yeah, Break Blade and Railgun manga scanlations updated today. + Show Spoiler [Railgun/Index] +Kuroko looks so different in the manga with her hair down. Didn't know it was her at first. =/
And hasn't Tree Diagram been destroyed at this point in the Raildex timeline? I can't remember where this scene fits in. I swear Index went into John's Pen mode and blew it up before the sisters incident.

I think the most interesting thing is how Makoto evolved + Show Spoiler [ spoilers duh] +from being a shy virgin to a somewhat assertive but lazy sex fiend in that he sleep with what, 7-8 girls by the end of the anime? Sekai Otome Setsuna Hikari and the 3 bitches (Inami Natsumi and Mori?). Kinda found odd how Hikari went to Makoto too after all the Sawanaga QQ she did
and how Sekai + Show Spoiler [major spoilers] + snapped at the end. I'm wondering whether she intended to stab him from the moment she asked to meet him or she decided it upon seeing all her hard work (the meal she had prepared) in the trash bin.
also referring to one of my previous posts:
edit2: what do the mean girls trio mean by "we filmed it + Show Spoiler [what "it" is] +(the secret lounge in the haunted house) for the girls ... and him" who's himwhat.
