In other news, I've been watching Macross 7. I finished episode 26, so roughly at the half way point of the TV series. Thought I'd post some thoughts on it so far. -The first thing that jumped out at me is the mecha animation is really bad. People animation is okay, but the mecha stuff generally looks like ass. Which is very surprising, since the other Macross animes I've watched all had good mecha animation. SDF Macross's fights looked tons better, even if the people in it were very derpy.
-Fire Bomber (the band in the show/the main characters) are really good. They do Planet Dance wayyy to much, but their music overall is very good. Fire Bomber music>>>Ranka and Sheryl Music.
-I've heard many different accounts as to how Basara, the main character, is. Some people have said hes an insufferable cunt, on the same level as Lynn Kaifun in the original. Others have said hes an extremely hotblooded badass who gives zero shits. Well... They are both right. He is a badass who flies out into battle just to sing rock music thats so awesome it makes the enemies run away. But hes also very selfish, which is then combined with the fact that Barasa is like completely unable to express himself in normal conversation. When the female lead calls him a retarded or gets mad at him, hes just like "Man, you just don't get it..." or "You just don't understand." So I'm pretty conflicted on his character, in terms of whether I personally like him or not.
-Guvava is the best:
-Every episode, there is this one girl, who I call the "Blonde Sundress Flower Loli", who goes to all the Fire Bomber's concerts, trying to give Basara a bouquet of flowers. She never says anything, and shes never given a name (so far), but she is there every episode! Shes like that one girl in the Godzilla costume from Infinite Ryvius. So its a running joke where shes always getting cockblocked when trying to meet Basara. Up to episode 26, and she still hasn't succeeded yet! Will the Blonde Flower Loli ever give Basara flowers? Tune in next time to Macross 7!
-I'm amazed at how much Macross 2 music is in Macross 7. Macross 7 was made to make Macross 2 "not canon", but I guess that doesn't stop them from making full use of Macross 2's OST!
-Max and Milia are in this show, and they are awesome. So far even Milia has sortied in her old VF-1, and owned face with it, despite being retired and the mayor of City 7. Hopefully Max will sortie later on in the series, despite being Captain of the Fleet. I'm pretty sure he does.
-Early on, it was a pretty slow show, but started slowly picking up the pace. And then in the last episode...:

Pretty nice fights, and some progression that isn't too crazy, all things considered. A solid start, at least. Much needed after that mess of a season finale.

Does anyone else think that the school will eventually transform into a mecha/ship at some point?
As you can see in this picture, it looks like the school is wearing a sailor uniform, and the platform at the top where Satsuki is always standing looks like a head/cockpit/bridge.
Then there's these chains that they showed in episode one. That just screams "hey look this school has a built-in transformation mechanism"
