My thoughts on the first two minutes: So it's a flashback? Oh, it's just a dream. WHAT IS YIN WEARING!? Nothing too shocking in this episode though. I'm left wondering what there is to cover in the last episode though - they could have ended the OVAs here and it'd lead up to the events of season 2 just fine. I guess the bad guy still needs to be killed. By the way, Yin is scary when she smiles. Contractors are failed dolls? I kinda wish Bones would stop introducing new plot points and just explain some of this stuff already. -_- ![]() I laughed. And to think he's crushing mooks left and right already. He's gonna be Kira Yamato if that bar ever reaches 100%. Break Blade's been pretty good so far. My only complaint is that I can't tell what mech is on which side, but that's probably just because I've been spoiled by Gundam's convenient color coding. ![]() The preview for Eva 3.0 seems to have more than it did in the theatrical release. Hmm. + Show Spoiler [Obligatory, if somewhat unrelated, pic…] + INAZUMA KIIICCCKKK!!! ![]()

As for AB, I wonder if we'll ever see a game ![]() Yeah, the designs from the two sides in Break Blade is rather similar at first. Though as it goes on and you see more customized ones, you see that the differences start to pile up more and more. Though our good hero's operational skills will probably never hit 100% ![]() DtB gaiden really is just a showcase for us Yin and Amber fans.

Edit: Mayoi Neko had the potential to be okay instead of horrible, but unfortunately, they ran out of source material way too quickly. I mean, they just had a random mecha episode, and this week, it was some

And I'm very disappoint that no one here has mentioned Yojouhan. C'mon guys, it's right behind Saraiya Goyou as best anime of this season! ... Speaking of which I haven't seen any discussion about that anime either... Where's the noitamina love??

That being said, the last episode was really good because it was different from the typical melodrama you see from a show like this. You know, not the "STOP IT ALREADY FFS" kind of tragedy that they are so fond of. :D I was afraid we'd get an incomprehensible ending giving the time and the story's tendency to meander around, but it looks like we're on track to something decent at the end at this rate.

If I had to explain why, in a vague and fuzzy way, it's because they seem like contrived penny dreadfuls in comparison to the anime I've seen and liked. The only anime I've watched - with the exception of daytime North American programming for kids (e.g. Dragonball Z, which I never got into, and Pokemon, which I like out of nostalgia more than anything) - I've liked a lot. This consists of the following: + Show Spoiler [in spoiler tags so I don't clutt…] + Neon Genesis Evangelion (adored it) Azumanga Daioh (adored it) Serial Experiments Lain (adored it) FLCL (adored it) For movies: Grave of the Fireflies, Akira, Perfect Blue, and Ninja Scroll, out of which I only disliked Ninja Scroll I wish I had a better idea of what I liked and didn't like out of anime. I generally like a strong story with a lot to think about, although Azumanga Daioh is great for being sharply witty and genuinely touching in the conclusion. Strong, unique characters are also a plus. Here's the list of anime I intend to watch at some point. Any other names I should put on the list, and any recommendations as to what should get priority on the list, would be much appreciated. + Show Spoiler [in spoiler tags so I don't clutt…] + Cowboy Bebop (I've had it for more than a year and still haven't watched it, so it will likely go next) Samurai Champloo Macross Death Note [any and all Miyazaki movies] Astroboy Ranma 1/2 (where would I start with this?) Gilgamesh Haruhi Oban Star Racers Lucky Star Jin-Roh Thanks to anyone who helps. I can delete this and open a blog for it if necessary.

I'm guessing youve never tried watching romance before but theres basically shoujo romance and seinen romance, and theres shounen romance which is kinda like FLCL i guess (but more along the lines of ichigo 100% and stuff) But really, eve no jikan and haibane are an instant start to finish watch for the list so far

When BONES churned out their own stuff, it went from a complex story to good versus evil. /rant. I completely agree about the Soul Eater anime ending, but at least it actually ended, unlike D. Gray Man, which I am still constantly checking back on to see if just maybe they will continue it!!

I just wiki'd those terms. They're both intriguing because a lot of what I like about anime is the fumbling adolescent composition and attitude (e.g. Serial Experiments Lain is like Jean Baudrillard In High School: The Anime), so recommend away. Although I should probably mention here that I get wary of yuri/yaoi/hentai stuff. I don't mind eroticism as long as it's tastefully, purposefully done (e.g. in NGE, the sexual energy effects Shinji's sexual frustration), but if the eroticism has no more significance than itself, I can't deal. Like, I like Azumanga Daioh a lot because the characters are themselves for greater reason than "they are girls," and this atmosphere is what makes the characters so endearing; the idea that these characters are being trotted out as fantastic erotic items for my titillation, in any anime whatsoever, would probably destroy me. (Furthermore, I figured Kimura-sensei was a strawman for anyone who would try to sexualize the characters; I'm surprised that this worldview didn't shatter when I found out that Azuma was male and a former hentai artist.) But yeah.

![]() Not going to add to anything, just going to wait till people give lists, voice approval then dive in with a sharp note about how the original work in manga or light novel form was better ![]() I was about to say how Mystlord is wrong about the DVD pricing, then checked amazon myself to be surprised at how it really is just $50 a pop. Heh. The sales record definitely had something to do with price.
