Poor Sumika!! Geez it fucking tragic. Cant say I didnt see that coming but still....just wow seeing her like that. I have a few questions if someone doesnt mind answering. 1.Im not fully sure why Sumika was the best canidate for being unit 00. Why does the beta preserving her brain make her better? 2. What does yuuko mean by saying she killed her? From wut little i understood she killed the orignial brain and made an identical one using the beta element? Not to sure. 3. Why would the BETA recognize a non carbon living being as living over a carbon one even tho they themselves are carbon-based? 4. Why is it even importent that the BETA recognize the 00 unit as living? Isnt the only important thing is that the 00 unit can understand the beta?
1. They mentioned it at some point, but based on Alternative III, Humanity learned that the BETA don't consider Humanity as living creatures, right? The idea behind Sumika is that she was kept "alive" by the BETA, so that maybe they would consider Sumika as the 00 Unit as being "alive" in order to communicate/do the things the 00 Unit does. Its a big gamble, since its mostly just assumptions, since Humanity knows next to nothing about the BETA, but its the BETA assumption they can draw based on what they know.
2. Yeah, she killed the original brain, thus "killing her". The 00 Unit is a copy, so technically its not the same.
3. That is one of the mysteries of the BETA you will eventually find out.
4. The important thing is that the 00 Unit can understand the BETA, so you are right about that. However, the BETA recognizing the 00 Unit as living will help out that goal by a whole lot. Bear in mind that the BETA don't consider Humanity as living creatures. Now, lets say some random rock came up to you and started asking you questions. Would you answer? If you don't believe something is alive, then obviously you don't really consider it intelligent, and wouldn't converse with it. Alternative III made use of Russian Espers, and they were able to understand the BETA a little bit, but seeing as how the BETA didn't think they were alive, they weren't able to get any meaningful information from them.
Alot of the "science" parts of MLA is kinda bullshit, so don't dwell too much on them. As long as you get the general idea of what they are trying to tell you, you will be fine, but as with 99% of science fiction, if you think hard enough about it long enough, the "fiction" part starts to out-weigh the "science" part.
Edit: Oh yeah, for TE, the new stuff they are testing has alot to do with 3rd Generation TSFs, to the best of my knowledge, anyway. 3rd Gen TSFs are like the F-22, the Takemikazuchi, and some Russian/European TSFs that didn't show up in the VN.
Hehe, all I know about the F-22 is that they are stupidly fast. Probably too fast for their own good during the testing phase :D
Well, fast, Stealth, etc. The F-22 is the embodiment of "lol America" in Muv-Luv. An Anti-TSF TSF in a war vs the BETA. Not that the F-22 is bad fighting the BETA.
Oh, that might help against my MLA withdrawal too. Nice.
And yeah, Americans... always thinking about the post war/BETA world... hm, going to be interesting with the Russian/Jap/American combo of eishi, could lead to interesting political conflicts between them. Speaking of Russian, isn't Russia totally fucked by the BETA? Don't have the hive map in my head, but... that's the feeling I got from looking at the map.

personally, I'm just tired of people saying "worst season of all time" at the start of every single season. majority of anime nowadays is fanservice with "plot," but there's almost always something worth watching, and generally a few that are entertaining enough for your average person, even if it isn't that good. either way, judging shows based on the first episode is dumb, be it good or bad opinions.
unless it's S2 of something and you know you'll get the same thing, more or less. my god, I was wondering what kind of crap Dog Days would use for S2. this is so dumb. not even Nana can get me to - oh wtf she voices TWO characters now? sigh...okay.

I don't really have any opinions on what seasons are better than others because there are always going to be shows that I enjoy. It just so happens that this time the shows that I might enjoy are the ones that I might as well just read or something since I'm on a reading spree.
oh yeah since you've already finished Deardrops (aka Riho route) and want more stuff to read, go read ever17. Even though I've only read a handful of VNs, it's my favorite so far because... hmm don't wanna say anything that might tip you off on spoilers but the way the story unfolded really impressed me.

Wondering if I should watch the ova or just wait for the 5th. Its coming next weekend.

lol yeah it was my favorite for obvious reasons but only asking cause I know znf has read 1-3 and he keeps saying he'll get vol4 and never does and he even claims to be on a reading spree atm.
by ova you mean movie I assume? Movie was really good but I'll still read vol5 when it comes out. Eca said Nanase's tsundere powers go out of control, so I can't miss that. Thought it wasn't until later in July? all I know is I'm missing several epic Nana events next weekend.

BS 4 5 and 7 are pretty good for the Nanase fans, gets quite a few moments and Touko-senpai plays a more support role. Well no, not 7, not quite, but it is better than how shafted she gets from every point afterwards.
But yeah BS4 was a neat use of Phantom, the problem is that + Show Spoiler +
it is kinda what happens in ummm Love is Forever or whatever that bullshit 'sequel' is. Good thing I didn't know about that thing until after I read.
EDIT - finding out some random shit about SAO, looks like it qualifies for brainless series to read while I read Jinsui.
Also Shingeki no Kyojin real serious.

To add a few things in, that was Pope Innocent's take on what England could do with the arrival of Musashi. The first involves interpreting their way out of the battle of the armada to limit both English and Spanish costs, still come out stronger because Spain is on the decline and need to go for their next bankruptcy after the armada anyway regardless because it is an event from the testament. Then they can be the driving force of the peace of Munster, which gives them leverage in the peace of Westphalia by proxy through Holland. In actual history, iirc the English was not directly involved in the meeting of Westphalia, in the Horizon world they are going to end up getting their say anyway even if not in person, but it is preferable to have a stronger say through Holland.
The latter option mentions interference from other countries. In Horizon, if you try to cheat too much with 'interpretations' and negotiate your way through bad stuff, the Seiren, or more specifically, other countries will voice objections and veto what you have done and tell you that you'll need to clear so and so and so (usually in terms of casualities and damages) to properly qualify. We didn't really see it do anything in season 1 because there weren't actually any historical reenactment involved, but it is important to keep in mind for the series in the future.
In the case where the England didn't take hostile action against Musashi as a member of Seirei. The Spanish could do a power recon with their entire fleet to put pressure on England, which also fucks quite a bit with England because it forces their hands and makes them need to proceed with certain events that takes place prior to the battle of the Armada in order to do anything about this fleet, it also pushes the timetable up into whatever Spain wants rather than the English bein able to delay it a bit. This is also a key element of the series that comes up more in this and (if there are any) the next few season.
Unrelated to the rest of this post, this starts the whole Horizon's-weapon-blows parade that will last for ages.

I'm reading it, although I don't know if I'd go as far as to say I'm "really into it." The premise was neat and it's had some interesting chapters, but it's hard to get excited about waiting a month for 10 minutes of reading. Manga isn't really my thing I guess.
Monthly sucks, you might be more interested when it gets animated. I'll probably put more time into reading it after Jinsui and stuff.
The premise certainly seems to be more interesting than Accel World (although I've only read a single chapter of the manga before this). There's a problem, though...

I don't see how this isn't going to end up being a comedy. I get the feeling that every character will suddenly be all "I understand more about this person" every 5 seconds or something. Interesting concept.
Patiently waiting for commie to get out Tari Tari.
KokoKone is kinda romcom but not really a comedy at all.
