Since I have no idea what to watch this season I went with UTW's choices - Imouto Hunt + Sword Arts Online, also Dog Days S2 because it's the only thing I vaguely recognise on the summer chart.
+ Show Spoiler [Imouto Hunt] +Typical harem. The heroines are already trying to get into his pantsu. The search itself for the imouto is pretty funny in itself. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy never speaks to a male student during the whole show...
+ Show Spoiler [Sword Arts Online] + Looks promising. I like the premise of being stuck in an MMORPG and the only way out being to win.
+ Show Spoiler [Dog Days] + Oh God.... here we go again

If that's the premise that you are looking at then .hack is a better choice than SAO, the world is better constructed and there are relatively fewer bullshit plot devices used to keep series going.

I tried getting into .hack but there are like 20 different manga/anime... where do I start?

Only .hack I saw was .hack//sign and it was decent with bonus Kajiura Yuki.

Then might need a bit of wiki/googling before going into the ones based on the games.

List finalized for Summer Season. Unusually big this time, more than twice what I normally watch. + Show Spoiler +

And you somehow miss Estetica which shows you boob and flying panties and crap in the first 5 minutes.

Well seems like emeraude scans caught up with Freezing finally. They did an awesome job and all, but the thought of waiting for the magazine's bimonthly release for 1 freezing chapter makes me feel so down =(
Anyone got any suggestions for some seinen battle mangas? Don't care if it's gore/ecchi/etc, Just something to read with swordfights or gunfire preferably. Don't say Akame ga Kiru - already reading.
Also, look at the hack anime list:+ Show Spoiler +1 - .Hack//SIGN (TV) is a prequel to hack//Liminality – it is 26 episodes + 3 bonus episodes Bonus episode 1 - "Intermezzo (OVA)" Bonus episode 2 - "Unison (OVA)" Bonus episode 3 - “Gift (OVA)"
4 - .hack//Liminality is the OVA series directly related to the games. Liminality was separated into four volumes; each volume was released with its corresponding game. The initial episode is 45 minutes long, while subsequent episodes are 30 minutes long.
5 - .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet is also known as .hack//UdeDen or .hack//DUSK is a 3 volume manga and a 12 episodes anime. The series is set four years after the events of .hack//Quarantine, (the game). Also it is a sequel of .Hack//SIGN (TV)
6 - .hack//Roots is the anime of the GU Games, being a prequel to them, as SIGN was to the Games.
7 - .hack//G.U Trilogy is a sequel to .hack//Roots, and is the animation for the
8 - .Hack//G.U. Returner is a sequel to the hack//G.U. Games Clusterfuck if I ever saw one =D

Muv luv alternative tentacles..... + Show Spoiler +So I got to the part were sumika is confessing her true feeling on the hill with Takeru and it goes to a sex scene. Normally I skip sex scenes in VNs cause they tend to be pointless and I just want to go through the story faster but this one seemed like it was it was relevent to the plot so I went ahead are read it, But I was clearly wrong since all the dialoge seemed to be how much sumika was enjoying it. I thought it was getting incredibly dumb but then they got to the last few images and then it was just plan sick and I didnt see a point to any of it. Why did the beta rape her? Did they need to do that to get to the brain? I have no fucking clue whats going on so if someone mind explaining this or maybe its explain later in a story I have no cool. It seemed dumb to me tho

Don't think liminality has anything to do with the games, should've just been shipped with the games.

+ Show Spoiler +It's really just there for the people with such tastes. It's pretty much the only part of MLA that I'd simply call bad... though I wouldn't have liked a yaoi scene either if there had been one.
Edit: Oh God... Asa Made Jugyou Chu!, borderline hentai...

Muv-Luv anime 2 first episodes
+ Show Spoiler +Pretty nasty, aliens look really scary and gross. Do they rape the girls in the VN? I couldn't help but wonder while watching them, so icky...
Some cool robot action, but alittle heavy on the porn-setup/fan service and very light on story... These shows seem very much alike at this point, which is a shame. Would be so much cooler if they dared branch out and tell some actual stories, not about young guys and girls kicking (and grabbing) ass, but something alittle more substantial.. Though I guess that's a gripe that is echoed by many people in this thread.

The first 2 episodes are anime original to introduce you to the MLA world. Oh, and after playing through the MLA VN I don't even notice the plugsuits anymore, lol.

I just meant in general, not necessarily in this particular scenario, I'm sure lots of similar scenarios will be coming up... Sure seemed to be enough BETAs

Kinda like the beginning of HOTD

It seemed dumb to me tho + Show Spoiler +Like I said before when Maxie got here, that part was really unnessisary, and one of the few parts of the VN I thought was bad. Was basically Sumika trying to get Takeru to hate her/distance himself from her, because she doesn't want him put himself into danger/etc. You can probably tell that after everything that has happened to Sumika, she isn't really mentally stable, to say the least. Its a miracle that her mind is the way it is at that point anyway, after seeing "her" Takeru eaten alive by Soldier-kuns, then shes raped, reduced to nothing but a brain, and then left in complete isolation/darkness/nothingness for like 3 years. Was really painful to read that as a Sumika-fan, made me feel even worse for her than I did originally when the 00 Unit was introduced.
As far as the BETA were concerned, it was simple experimentation with humanity's reproductive system, which is alien to them. Essentially it was added cuz loljapan and tentacles. This part was wisely cut from the All-Ages version because it was retarded to add it in, but the All-Ages version isn't translated.

+ Show Spoiler +Of course, but seing as they spent these two episodes basically only establishing one character, who seems kinda reminiscent of some characters I've seen before, it didn't show much promise story-wise... But yeah, 2 first episodes - could go in a lot of directions I suppose
