Some cool robot action, but alittle heavy on the porn-setup/fan service and very light on story... These shows seem very much alike at this point, which is a shame. Would be so much cooler if they dared branch out and tell some actual stories, not about young guys and girls kicking (and grabbing) ass, but something alittle more substantial.. Though I guess that's a gripe that is echoed by many people in this thread. It's two episodes in. + Show Spoiler +Of course, but seing as they spent these two episodes basically only establishing one character, who seems kinda reminiscent of some characters I've seen before, it didn't show much promise story-wise... But yeah, 2 first episodes - could go in a lot of directions I suppose + Show Spoiler +
The first two episodes are basically a prequel to the actual meat of the show, just showing what happened to Yui and the two other survivors of her squad and mainland Japan.

Not really. Since this is pretty much a copy paste of the LN, it's just backstory for Yui.

Ok maybe you guys can help me, I love To aru Kagaku no Railgun but cant seem to get into To aru Majutsu no Index. I mean I know it is popular but I just cant seem to like it. Is it just cause I like Misaka better as a protagonist then Tōma and Index or am I missing something. I liked the arc of index that dealt with Misaka and then clones xp. Index gets a lot of praise so I just have to think i am missing something.

well you like what you like, for me the accelerator is the sole reason i watch the show <.< and the whole premise is kinda neat, and the fanservice, but i do not think there is some deep or hidden meaning that could increase your appreciation for it.

So to answer your question, you are obviously not going to like Index.

Kuroko alone made me love Railgun + Show Spoiler [Oneeeeeeeesamaaaaaaaa] +:D ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/4rypt.jpg)
Having what was my top favorite OP theme for quite a long time probably didn't hurt either Only My Railgun:+ Show Spoiler +
Index felt really disjointed and had me confused as to what was going on half the time. Not having read the LN probably didn't help. Index II was more of the same, only slightly redeemed by having a little more Kuroko action.

It's not that I feel let down or anything, but just seems like more of the same stuff. Which is fine, I guess it's time to figure out how big a fan of these shows I really am ^^
As for the setting, it's obviously important, but is it too much to hope for some interesting dialogue rather than naked chicks putting on skintight suits and teasing eachother about their childish bodies?

There was like one scene over the course of two episodes that was about that. Everything else was either history/training/BETA are coming to kill us/Fighting. wtf@your "interesting dialogue" comment. Again, that makes me wonder what you are expecting out of the show. Are you looking for lots of banter and word play, or something like that out of this show?

I was pretty much expecting what I got, it's just nowhere near the level of something like Fate/Zero or LOGH. I found it closer to Code Geass, which I guess may be what most anime is like, I am just learning about it now.
Fighting nasty aliens in giant robots is cool, maybe cool enough to carry a show but still... Girl-only cast, giggling and playing around in schoolgirl outfits/skintight suits, teasing eachother... Even something like Gundam 00 (which has a quite similar premise to me, again I am an anime nub) at least takes its characters deeply serious and delves into them. Being alittle harsh here, but I guess since they don't have tits they can have personalities...
EDIT: "Interesting dialogue" WTF - Let me try and explain my thoughts:
Fate/Zero episode 11, interesting dialogue into amazing action.
ML:TE (or Code Geass), pretty people saying nonsense, they better make up for this with the robots.

Wow i see, index gets such buzz so i was just thinking there was some missing link that would make it fall together. I was like Dullahan said, confused about what was going on and not caring much about what was going. I was watching just too see more of the "side" characters Misaka, Kuroko and Accelerator.

Seems like the author squandered a lot of potential in his side characters. Seems more people care about them then the main ones
And lol at those Kuroko dolls Dullahan, very neat though. She made railgun that much more enjoyable.

Dingo you're basically complaining about filler characters who were created completely to be filler. It may not have been the best way for them to go about introducing the series, but you're complaining about completely irrelevant characters.
I can't guarantee you'll like the main series, as it's a bunch of relatively young adults (mid-20s I believe most of them) who are jacking off on national pride bitching at each other for fucking around while their country is being blown to bits and so on. But it's essentially a pure 180.

I'm beginning to realize that, I didn't get that the series was completely changing gears at the end of episode 2, but I can roll with it. If anything, it's promising that that is what they're doing.
However, new characters who are not meant to be filler, better be more interesting than these filler characters!!! AHH!!!

Don't know how much Index you have watched, but season 2 also has some good Accelerator/Misaka parts. In general I really really like the science half of the series, whereas the magic half is rather blargh.

Accelerator is also pretty damned boring at the moment book wise, since author essentially made him a tsundere Touma.
Also Kuroko is annoying as hell.
