but if Oda plays this right i think the Dressrosa arc will dethrone Water 7/Enies Lobby. Even right now it's just too awesome. I don't see Dressrosa replacing Water7 arc as my favorite, but I do think it can become pretty darn epic, depending how Oda does it. For one, I think it won't be as epic as we can imagine because I suspect the arc will not tie everything neatly together but have things simply lead to the next arc. Secondly, even if it does lead to all the epicness it can, "that's all" it will be. In other words, it will do the excitement masterfully but potentially lack other things, such as emotional impact. For me at least, Water7 had a number of things going for it beyond the epicness of the fights: Robin's backstory with the first real glimpse into the void century and corruption of the government and her "I want to live" scene, Luffy's acknowledgement that he still needs to become stronger and the subsequent growth he showed with the gear techniques, Going Merry, etc. Everything was done so well and the arc was far more than about epic fights to rescue a crewmember. While Dressrosa may give more "omg this is epic" scenes, that will hardly be enough to overcome the aspects that made the Water7 arc my favorite. Also Water7 is like Oda purposely having a Mizuki Nana joke so there's really nothing more I could ask for. I missed the nana joke. What was it about ?
The arc was so well made but it's still not impossible for Dressrosa arc to beat it. After all we are done with the arc yet.

Crocodile was an evil mastermind that owned Luffy twice till their final climactic confronation. Good god I need to reread OP for like the 20th time

Arlong was just kind of a spoiled dickish brat. Did what he wanted because nobody came along to put him in his place. Crocodile was a monster. A cold blooded, intelligent mass murderer who would see a whole country die of dehydration and see its people slaughter one another just to get his hands on more power.

Mizuki Nana is a celebrity. According to Wikipedia song writer and singer.

It does kinda feel like something is missing from Sanji's 'power-up' post-timeskip. It does make sense for him to be used as the 'this enemy is so strong because he just beat X character' if Oda wanted to use someone for that purpose, since at least Sanji is still the cook + fawns over ladies as part of his character. Zoro is the first mate (not that the title has ever meant shit) and his only real duty as a member of the crew is to beat the hell out of people, so if he loses repeatedly it hurts his character a fair bit more.
It would be hilarious if Sanji is actually holding back, because his real fighting strength enhancement is from new-kama fighting techniques and he refuses to use them out of sheer embarrassment. That'd be totally fitting in so many ways. About the only new combat ability he's shown so far is that he can jump around the sky (or water, apparently) like CP9. And his rather undefined ability to use haki now.

Nana is one of the most famous singer/voice actors right now.
I still like yanagi over her though.

Once we see Sanji fully seperated from the group in a fight, knowing he is alone and no one will ever see he will unleash his true power! Okama wayyyyy!!!

I figured Sanji's power uo would be related to food and those recipes he fought the Newkama over.

The recipes are important but the real training was obviously fighting off an entire kingdom full of okamas while running the entire time.
The rest of the training Sanji will get will be in the new world. Just compare the Sanji that entered the Grand Line with the Sanji that got blown away by Kuma at Sabaody. The latter is clearly stronger.

The latter is clearly stronger. I just always assumed that Sanji got the recipe's fairly quickly(Like in a year maybe a bit more.) And the rest of the time Ivankov spent actually training him in Haki and other cool shit.
I don't think haki is something that can be fully trained by yourself for the most part. If it could then everyone in the world would just train themselves in it, so for him to properly learn and master haki I think he had to have help from somone like Ivankov?
Either way, I think just like with Zoro we haven't seen Sanji's full power and what he can do just yet. I expect by the end of this Arc we will really see just how much stronger they have gotten.
