Or maybe something like "if you arent with me then you are against me" or some other reasons. Plenty of possibilities after all human ambition, cruelty and paranoia can only go far.
It's not unheard in fiction where a tyrant figures dervives from a race who got wiped and it was the tyrants own doing like i can remember one example from Cosmere which I wont specify which one but there was a character there who kinda started playing eugenics with his own kind so that he has competition in the future. Not unusual for immortal figures too to play that path in the longterm

I don't think it's confirmed yet since we don't see a fire on his back, he doesn't have wings in his base form, and the skin could just be shaded because he's red in his hybrid form, as opposed to a natural pigmentation.
What I'm wondering is where did his crown go after he transformed? He teleported with it. Did he leave it at the castle? Could this be a projection?

i think he does have wings in his base form. one of the last panels of the chapter show his full silhouette and he definitely has wings there. hes also shown some immunity to fire iirc when he met sabo. 3 characteristics of lunarian people if you include his dark skin too

Holy shitsnacks, Imu face/body reveal before GTA VI ! Is it just me or does Imu kinda look like a random arc villain from Fairy Tail? A bit disappointed with the initial look, lol...

A bit disappointed with the initial look, lol... Yeah his design looks out of place. Ever since Wano there's been a strange stylistic shift in One Piece. I can't quite put my finger on it but it doesn't feel "piratey" anymore. It reminds me of the transition from old Pokemon generations to new ones where they stop looking like weird animals and turn into biomechanical weapons.
Personally, I always imagined him as an old wizard type character similar to this guy: + Show Spoiler + That would give him more gravitas and make him feel more ancient, but alas.

His current form looks like the "hybrid" or base form per logia. We do know Imu can go bigger than the 5 elders which are all giant sized by proportions.
Also idk if this was talked about alot is that Luffy is called Joyboy by Imu obviously but BB is called "Davy Jones" by him as well. That's interesting

Bro is so traumatized anyone who awakens the Nika fruit is Joyboy.

Why is he suddenly 20 feet tall? I don't understand Oda's obsession with making absurdly large characters. Kinda looks ridiculous when a normal sized character is fighting a giant. How are they not crushed instantaneously? Shonen logic...

He was sitting on top of a castle that is big enough to fit Harald and transformed Loki and wasn't absolutely tiny. Before transforming he was tall but now he's Kaido-size.
I think he mostly does it because tall = strong, threatening is very easy and convenient.

You are talking about a story where the main character is rubberman.
And where people casually tank and block bullets. Hell characters who jump midair is a thing and if science is correct you literally need so much energy to do that that. You should NEVER think about this story same as real life physics

It's a kid's show as per oda's intention (he did say this himself multiple times the target audience are kids . not adults despite likely adults buying this shit more)
It's very easy to create the intended effect with small heroes for underdog effect and big enemies for intimidation. Ez psychological factor

Oh my. I always thought the Imu / Mihawk connection was a meme but now it's pretty cut and dry. I guess he's also a Nerona? So Shanks vs Mihawk was literally two world nobles cosplaying as pirates and claiming to be swordsmen prodigies but were really just using their patented family techniques.

I have heard of the Imu / Mihawk lineage theory before but I always thought it was crack theory based on eye design.
Oh boy they could not be more relevant now

mihawk has always had a lot of dracula motifs

Some kind of forsaken son huh

That's a great catch, just doesn't seem like a coincidence considering that Oda is very keen on details.
So many questions about Mihawk's background now!

So many questions about Mihawk's background now! We know he had distrust over the WG like Croc which might be clue

Another god was introduced last chapter: Zaza the rain goddess. We essentially have 4 confirmed god fruits: Sun (Luffy), Devil (Imu), War (Loki), and Rain (probably Dragon). The depiction of the rain goddess looks a lot like Vivi, who in turn looks a lot like Lily. The implication is that Lily was also the rain goddess of her time, and that Vivi will become the new rain goddess of the present. Also, it looks like Dragon is the current holder of the ZaZa fruit so he's probably going to have to die for Vivi to inherit it. I'm thinking that will probably be the culmination of the Revolutionaries vs. World Nobles plotline that's going on right now behind the scenes. Don't worry, Sabo is already destined to take over his position as the leader.
Also, since we're up to 4 god fruits and will likely get more, I think god fruits should be a separate category altogether. The current ranking is:
God Fruit > Mythical Zoan > Logia > Zoan = Paramecia
