I don't really get the hate for this movie. Its a standard comic book movie. Better than the worst Marvel movies, worse than the better ones. It had really good action imo but the lack of a villian with a personality was a real problem. Hank kinda sucked in this one and even Charles was a bit annoying at times with his inability to see the obvious but as an action movie it really worked pretty well. I've now seen all the X Men movies and this ranks about half way. 6.5/10
I agree, I thought it was fine. Which on is at the top and which at the bottom?
Logan is definitely at the top. It may be my all time fave comic book movie. Bottom probably Apocalypse, although Last Stand made some horrible, unforgiveable character mistakes.. It also had some cool moments too (the chess piece at the end credits and the set up of Charles' body switch were both cool).
It does feel to me like Dark Phoenix as a storyline could have done with the MCU treatment and been a slow burn over a number of movies. It just feels like she gets so damn powerful and then its over, it happens in both movie attempts. The Animated Series version is so much more epic.

Word, I largely agree, Logan and Days of Future Past are at the top for me, and Last Stand and Apocalypse at the bottom. I still enjoyed them all though :D
I wanted a little more Dr. Strange integration, having the monsters in Ta Lo be more eldritch would have been welcomed imo, having them be vaguely recognizable as chinese mythical creatures but be based in a more alien way would've been nice. Would ground them more in the Marvel universe imo.
I liked the dad character, I was afraid he was going to be a generic ill intentioned douche hellbent on conquering the one place he could never get to, but he wasn't he was a manipulated warlord who genuinely tried and felt some love towards his family. I enjoyed the family dynamics a lot, he was one of the best Marvel villains so far in my opinion. Sure beats the hell out of business man with technology is pissed.
Also, the ten rings are such badass weapons, I hope to hell they dont just make them magic, I think in the comics theyre like, an alien spaceship engine, which feels really badass. I mean, youre wearing an alien spaceship's engine and tossing energy blasts around and shooting them around like a whip? Totally awesome.
I think its like an 8.5/10 Marvel movie, maybe up to a 9/10.
From the first point of view it does not feel like Matrix. Mainly because of the bright colors used in the trailer, the very first Matrix was dark and grim which contributed to the atmosphere. Yes, you can argue that this difference is related to the ending of the 3rd movie, new version of matrix looks better for the people and bla bla.
They missed an opportunity to do "hello Mr. Anderson" intro. Having no Morpheus/Agent Smith also makes it less Matrix? John Wick 3 had many Matrix references and the real Morhpeus
Introducing politics to such trippy narrative feels like a bad recipe no matter which political views you do have

I'm a bit confused by this trailer to be frank
The first Matrix movie was explicitly about alienation and marginalization of identity non confirming individuals which turned out to make a whole bunch of sense when the writers came out as trans. Art is intrinsically political and movies are a form of artistic expression.
Anyway the trailer was quite jarring because it felt kinda like a remake? But it felt like a video game remake to me, because they recreated so many scenes, which is something I don't really see in movie remake trailers. Idk, something about it felt off.
So apparently they're ignoring the sequels in this one is what I read?
My absolutely unsubstantiated gut feeling is that there's a whole lot of bait and switch in the trailer. Or maybe it's just aiming to be a meta commentary about sequels and looking back at your own work?
There's something I really like about Wachowskis' work, so going to see this one.

People are going to be angry when they realize that this has the Wachowskis' political opinions in it.
Cue the 'leave the politics out of my Matrix movies' comments lol.
I'm not big on putting political propaganda into movies but Sense 8 (done by Wachowskis) was a genuinely good show despite it being filled to the brim with SJW preaching.

Eh, where do you draw the line there? Like, there are a lot of people that think the inclusion of a trans character by itself is SJW preaching/political.

I don't mind any kind of character as long as it's a good character that actually fits the story being told. Inclusion just for the sake of inclusion is dumb enough but then some shows take it to the next level with reminding the viewer how CIS white males are the worst, should just shut up and die etc. etc.
Edit:
You can usually spot that with characters having overlong monologues about oppression, tyranny and what not.
Sense 8 I quoted earlier wasn't that bad, it still preached peace, love and understanding but did it way more subtly. I liked how the viewer was actually shown stuff instead of being told about it. It also really helped that characters were quite interesting (much more than the actual plot) so I didn't even mind stuff that made me slightly uncomfortable when watching the show (gay sex scenes not my usual cup of tea).

Statistically some inclusion is necessary. Let’s say that 70% of people are 1s and 30% of people are 2s. If you view each show as an independent example then the main character in every show should be a 1 because that’d be more representative of the world. But if you then have ten independent shows where every main character is a 1 then suddenly these shows are collectively unrealistic because they present a world in which there aren’t 2s. Statistically 3 of them should have had 2s as the main character. But that leaves people watching those 3 and complaining about excessive inclusion.
It’s also weird what people choose to complain about when it comes to on screen representation. If it was genuinely about better portraying realism then by far the biggest complaints would be the lack of poor people, stupid people, and ugly people. It’s not though, it’s race and sexual identity minorities. To me that implies that they’re not comparing the screen to reality, they’re comparing it to an idealized fantasy. The conclusion is therefore that their ideal doesn’t allow for the existence of certain groups.
Id enjoy seeing more actually poor people in movies and not just "Im poor and can afford a large nice apartment in New York off my part time salary" versions of "poor." Or "Im poor because I actively choose not to use my family's vast amounts of absurd wealth."

Have you watched the Queens Gambit? That is 100% not the narrative. And rather than 'changing facts', I would assume it is a research error. Many female chess players, especially in that era, didn't ever play men in competition.
The Queen's Gambit wasn't made by Netflix, it was made by Flitcraft Ltd or something. Are you suggesting netflix forced this production company to change their script to include this error in it, so it would fit in with netfilx's alleged narrative?
Why do you think this narrative of Netflix's even exists when they have so many anti-woke comedy specials on their service like Burr, Rogan etc?
