Think I prefer the original teaser still despite only shooting 1/3rd of the film or what have you. edit: both are fantastic though. | ||

Thoughts: + Show Spoiler + The movie felt pretty much all over the place to me. It a bit like Spectre, there's a weird mix of slapstick comedy, laughably evil supervillainy, lightweight adventure and then sudden dives to some deeper end. I just find it really hard to tune into the mood when it seems to swing around targetting all kinds of audiences at given time. As a result the supposedly more profound moments don't feel earned, the character motivations seem pretty muddy and the comedy often comes off jarring. Visually there are some pretty damn nice shots and all that, but the action felt a bit inconsistent to me. There are some nice oompf moments here and there, but then again some of it also feels weirdly inconsequential and just rolls through without much feel of opposition or challenge at times. It's still probably a bit shaky 3 out of 5 movie, I just wish they tried some different script writers or had the guts to commit to a more focused type Bond of some kind. I could see the superstar cast and Bond character being fun or interesting in so many different ways, the recent ones have been just too much of a mess to be anything memorable to me. | ||

Cletus Kasady is also wildly inconsistent, at the beginning he calls Eddie to him for a story, asks him to publish a cryptic thing, which he fucking does and then suddenly hates him and feels betrayed??? He was trading publishing the cryptic thing in exchange for his life story, which he doesnt really tell him, his motivations with regards to Eddie are made up moment to moment and its incoherent. Shriek is in it and plays like the weirdest role, shes a foil in the non obvious way she should be a foil for Carnage, and it... it just doesnt work. Shes the weird brand of evil but we know fuck all about her or her motivations really so shes just this weird plot object. The movie is so bad. So, so, so fucking bad. Go see Dune instead. Its a movie that I would best describe as fuckin' artisanal. So quality. | ||

I thought the series was going to be a spinoff about the Bene Gesserit! The news about part 2 is awesome. I still haven't seen the first part yet. I'm waiting for the buzz to die down so I can enjoy a quiet cinema. | ||
