This movie had great things about it for sure but it was kind of old fashioned with all the 'world ending fireworks rainbows love at first sight' stuff. The sound editing and attention to detail are amazing, its probably worth a watch just for that, but the driving action is also really good. Its still probably my least favourite Edgar Wright movie though. 7/10 I also watched Arrival for like the fourth time because I want to write a blog about it. I'm revising my score for that movie to a 9.5 just because of all the stuff in there that you don't notice until you're looking for it.

My ratings: 5/10 Philosopher's Stone, kind of cute, obviously a children's film 4/10 Chamber, like one, no major blunders, still kind of cute 6/10 Prisoner, always enjoyed the time turner bit, although that thing is way too OP to exist in that world 3/10 Goblet, kind of terrible. Way too rushed, way too ridiculous 6/10 Order, darker, but they fumbled the evil Umbridge bit 7/10 Half Blood Prince, darker still, getting better 9/10 Hallows 1, seriously great film. All the sneaking about, Hermione being a badass all around, loved every bit of it. 7/10 Hallows 1, satisfying conclusion, Snape revelation a bit too rushed. I think the movies would have been a fair bit better if they split books 5 and 6 into two movies like they did with 7. Overall, not a great experience but also not a bad one. Wouldn't recommend if you haven't read the books or aren't indulging a child or loved one.

Funny enough, I watched Annihilation because I thought it would be close to Arrival--boy was I wrong. Everything about Annihilation was just... so off-putting. Felt like a high-school drama fest. And I just felt so underwhelmed with the "explanation" or "lack thereof" of the shimmer. Idk... I try not to be too harsh, cause Im not the best at giving constructive criticism, but seriously this was like a 2/10 at best. CGI carried it. Arrival, on the other hand, is a movie I can get behind. I think Ill give that one another watch (lost count by now). This one is easily a 9.5/10.

Also was impressed with hallows 1, which is something I really didn't expect as especially the main cast didn't shine before that. Turns out that they can actually play if you let them. Kinda funny that the one that has the least to do with the HP world is by far the best one. The rest is mostly okay, fun if you don't mind that they are a bit childish and you need to suspend disbelief. I'd prolly rate 7.2 lower than 6 and was personally disappointed with 3 since that's the best of the books, but I'm mostly down with that list.

I know I did. Funny enough I think I liked the Chamber movie a little more than the book, since it was easily the weakest book of the saga for me. I pretty much agree with everything else on that list too, good stuff.

+ Show Spoiler + Hey look a good DC movie! It was pretty heartwarming, I enjoyed watching the ridiculous premise of child is granted by magic lightning wizard the body of a god being fulfilled, I think it was well mined for some great comedy. The theme of family and the way it was done was really nice, I’m probably the last person to have that resonate with but I may have teared up a wee bit + Show Spoiler + when he meets his mom and she’s not necessarily a scum bag, but also a scum bag. he calls the foster house home. The villain sucked, could’ve been good but... I don’t get it, sure seven deadly sins and all, but... why? I liked the angle that as an Unworthy One he’d be more of less scarred by being not good enough, but I’m not sure that idea is well executed for him, and him having the same powers as Shazam plus a weird magic demon horde was... boring?

I gotta say, Shazam! was a lot of fun. The whole "kid gets super powers from wizard" premise, silly as it was, was very well done. The characters' response is quite reasonable, leading to some great comedic moments and to a lot of tension down the line as the supervillain shows up and conflict is shoved in Shazam's face. It was also a great origin story in that the important moment isn't when he gets the powers but when he decides to be a hero (spider-man movies are the ones that I recall also suceeding at this)

Bumblebee Finally got time to watch this, i was pretty sick over the holiday season and never got chance to go to the cinema to watch it as i am huge transformers fan and this had been given such rave reviews as well. Also since this was announced i was so intrigued due to it having the director form Kubo and the Two Strings a movie i thought was fantastic and so underrated. Now back to the movie i thought it was good, i liked the 80s throwback in which in reality is where it all started for Transformers and i liked the characters that were thrown into it. The comedy i think was a bit much in the end but i can't say i didnt laugh out loud many many times during that film lol, was very funny to me. I do however not understand what kind of movie this was, is it a bumblebee origin story or is it a complete reboot. They said their is two more movies coming, a transformers film and a bumblebee 2...which just confuses my brain even more but maybe i need to look into that so more. All in all though, with the little cameos of Optimus and the nice smooth layout with some hilarious moments it was still great for me! 9/10 How To Train Your Dragon 3 Now i love these little films, i don't know why but they always appeal to me and i thought number 1 and 2 were great so was looking forward to number 3. Number 3 started off well and intriguing, then the story developed nicely and i thought yeah this is well written, but then it kind of just meh'd in the last 20 minutes. Was a curve ball to say the least, the ending was a nice touch but still lacks what i thought was going to happen, maybe was just my opinion of what it should have been, but it was still entertaining just not what i thought and expected it should be. I won't spoil to much as it is still recently new but the way Toothless was portrayed in this wasn't very good i didn't think, oh well, i shouldn't read to much into kids films xD 6/10

The original Mad Max movie from 1980 had a production budget under $0.5 million. Its influence is still being felt today. Borderlands ( 2009 ) and Mad Max Fury Road ( 2015 ) acknowledge its influence in their creation. Wrestlemania 35 , two days ago, had the guy who runs the company make a Mad Max ring entrance that probably cost more to execute than the original movie. youtube i wonder if the post-apocalypse setting grew in popularity due to media saturation with references to our impending, inevitable doom? I guess if half of california is going to slide into the ocean any day now... and we're going to run out of oil very soon ... that makes the world seem a lot more exciting than it really is. I started getting lost trying to figure out what was going on in the 3rd movie so i quit watching the series.

Also outside of borderlands 2 and fury road I have difficulties naming another post apocalyptic production that was at large successful. Borderlands 1 saw some success, but Rage and BL: presequel flopped afaik and I couldn't name another game or movie that tried. It's more successful than it ever was, but it's still far from mainstream.

Borderlands TPS had far fewer resources allocated to its development. The DLC contained 10% of the content of BL2's DLC. TPS was not designed to move the series forward the way BL3 is. TPS was made to milk the existing hardcore audience. It did that successfully. It was made by a satellite studio in Australia. The main studio in Texas was focused on Battleborn. LOL.. i guess the apocalypse and what happens afterwards is exciting for producers and film makers. 1951- Nuclear Apocalypse
