![]() Berserk - The Golden Age Part 2 - The Battle for Doldrey A nobleman cannot wield the sword of the mountain, a beggar cannot lift the chalice of kings, but you can download this quality animation before you buy it! These movies are what the "hero vs. the army of darkness" genre needed for a long time.

![]() Based on a Liam O'Flaherty story, it's set in Dublin in 1922 during the Black and Tans era. The movie follows an unemployed not-too-bright man over the course of the night as he grapples whether or not to turn in his friend for a reward and the consequences that follow. I usually cannot stand John Ford's overblown movies because he simplifies the narrative to the obvious good guys against the obvious bad guys. If you take out the main character, played amazingly by Victor McLaglen, that's what this boils down to. Any scene not involving Victor McLaglen is unbearable with a bad script and even worse acting. Luckily Victor McLaglen is in about 3/4 of the movie and when he isn't talking what really carries the film is Joe August's great cinematography. Influenced from the 30s French realism and a precursor to film noir the beautiful use of light and shadow with the fog is very evocative.

Wtf, the three Ford's movie I've seen (The Searchers, The Man Who Killed Liberty Valance and The Quiet Man) are the exact opposite of what you're saying here o_o

Doh!) and I've seen a lot more Ford movies than you. That's part of the big deal about The Searchers. It has been seen as his response for his depiction of Indians in his films. The Searchers is legitimately one of the greatest films in addition to having one of the greatest shots in cinema with that ending. Edit: Looking at his filmography again this definitely applies more to his 20s-40s movies where he could get out of hand with the overblown melodramatics. He seems to begin to change with Wagon Master which is one of my faves.

![]() Hannah and Her Sisters is one of the best movies I have seen. Directed and written by Woody Allen, it shows us the lives of middle class families while contemplating about life: for what do we live for, is there life after death, why are we afraid of doing things on impulse and break the routine. I honestly enjoyed it. The movie presented some interesting thoughts, while not being overly deep and keeping the viewers' interest. All the actors were great. The soundtrack was some quality jazz and, coupled with great screenplay, created an amazing atmosphere. 5/5

![]() Just watched Upstream Color, did not enjoy it. The movie begs for a narrative, and is essentially narrative driven, but the narrative is hidden and mangled in a way that makes itself seem profound but isn't really. ![]() Also watched two of Hong Sang-soo's films for the first time. This was the first. Did not particularly enjoy it. I get the Eric Rohmer comparisons but the dialogue in this film was so plain for the most part. ![]() Enjoyed. Intricate and full of wisdom. Like Kiarostami and Rohmer.

In Iron Man 3 there are a few scenes that take you right out of the moment because it's far too ridiculous. It isn't plausible with what you have been shown in earlier Iron Man films or even earlier in the same film. That's where it made the biggest mistake for me along with unresolved plot issues. Avengers was better than Iron Man 3. First Iron Man is still the best out of the three.

Could be about love or perhaps something with a lot of human drama (movies about wars/strife).. I might be a bit late, but this movie is the only one that makes me weep like a girl. Also amazing soundtrack. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120591/?ref_=sr_1

This is right up there and I think from the same era as Crimes and Misdemeanors. So sad that his movies aren't on Netflix anymore. I'll just have to start a collection. I might try to go see this tonight:
