Letter from an unknown woman (Max Ophüls) A pianist (Louis Jourdan) decides to flee from a duel when he receives a letter from an unknown woman (Joan Fontaine) telling him the story of her love. Little to say about this movie, it's a simple and beautiful story, very well told and constructed, well shot but not as original and creative as some of Ophüls latter work. Joan Fontain is charming and Louis Jourdan is dashing. A beautiful romance, but a bit inferior to Le Plaisir and The Earrings of Mme de... 8.5/10 The Social Network (David Fincher) The story of Mark Zuckerberg and how Facebook was created. Despite an awful first 20 minutes which is more or less the reason I can't bring myself to like Fincher that much and a dumb ending to mirror it, this movie is indeed very interesting. Very well paced, well written, especially the dialogue, well acted outside of a few minor scenes. Good stuff. Also, filming someone writing code is not interesting, but the way those sequence were dealt with (very fast cut and dialogue) only made them annoying instead of boring. 7.5/10

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2023587/ description Annabel and Lucas are faced with the challenge of raising his young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years.... but how alone were they? It was based on a short which I will link to. I actually think it (the movie/and the short!!!!) was one of the scariest movies I've seen in a long time. I can recommend this to anyone who like the original scary horror style >_> Watch this alone in the dark, and I gurantee that you are happy for those underwears you got for Xmas. 8/10

![]() OK so I said a little while ago I was really excited to see this, and it finally came to netflix dvds. Aaaaand... it was actually pretty bad. Now The Place Promised in Our Early Days (the director's previous work that I loved) had a tiny bit of sentimental cheesiness but it pretty much worked as a part of a beautiful, intriguing whole. This movie though it takes what's already getting close to the tolerable limit, and then piles on wayyyyy more sentimental cheese and angst and focuses the whole movie on it. I mean parts of it are effective emotionally and are very, very good, but they are plowed out the way by ridiculousness that's just way too easy to make fun of. And then it goes and ends with a full blown recap of itself AMV (I'm serious) complete with requisite over the top corny song about romantic longing. The visual backdrops are astoundingly amazing and beautiful though. If you watch it on mute it might be really good, hehe. The stories themselves are not bad and neither is the visual flow, it's just the telling way misses the mark unless you are a 13-18 year old anime fan. Sometimes the choice to add some sort of saccharine song to an already over the top sentimental scene is just bafflingly gross.

It's about a family during the Tsunami in Thailand, Dec 2004. One of the most powerful first 20 minutes I've seen, I was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie which is meant to be a drama. I really enjoyed it. The IMDB rating is fairly accurate in my opinion, 7.6/10 is pretty close to my personal 8/10. EDIT: Wow, the trailer didn't do this movie justice at all. ![]()

![]() I must say it was quite surprisingly good... The start of the movie felt a bit slow and off until Anderson comes in. I felt like it wasn't a proper opening and lacking. Like I said I haven't watched it in 3D and I think that would have even given another element of fun to already fun full movie. Hell you guys should watch this movie, you're in for a nice ride. One of many things that I don't like in 3D movies is the forced 3D moments where there is CGIed stuff flying/or swimming(like in Life of Pi) or in this movie it was the drug "slow mo" effects, and there is a focus on them and as not a fan of 3D movies it looks really stupid to even have them in a movie... especially when I watch them in 2D. I would give it a 7/10

I mean chasing the plane in the cars, really? And surely if they got to the control tower it would be a good 40 minutes before they left Iranian air, in which time they could tell the plane to turn back or be shot down? Also they still didn't explain how the silly movie cover was the most sensible cover story. The film was pretty boring really, not any twists or unpredictability for the plot.

Its not perfect but I like the more serious tone, probably pixars best to be honest.

I don't think I did, I just think I hate that aesthetic when it's done completely excessively, it's unbearable. If it had some restraint, it would probably be great. The beginning of the first story is so nauseatingly cutesy and sentimental, and that's what the whole rest of the film is built on. Even into his 20's he's still apparently hung up on that time. Also it doesn't have an ending. A monologue about being depressed at the end of which you decide to quit your job that we've seen you've had since approximately 2 minutes ago in the film and have literally no reference or connection to is not a satisfying ending. Is that the point? That there's no restraint when it comes to young love, that it's like cosmically important when you're in that moment so it should be portrayed in the most melodramatic way possible? OK but that's not watchable.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1374992/ ![]() If you enjoy visually stunning movies like those of Makoto Shinkai, you will love Upside Down. This movie is one of the most beautiful movies that I have ever seen. Every scene is visually magnificent; the color scheme, the decor, the night sky, city lights, everything looks so good. I'm not gonna bother giving a synopsis of the movie because the rest of the movie is very mediocre. Movie overall 6/10 (Watchable, maybe enjoyable, nothing great) Visuals 11/10 (One of the best I've ever seen)

![]() It's a parody about how America polices the world and uses terrorism as an excuse to do so. I think it tries to be more funny and low brow than it does try to really criticize America or show how it should change so don't go into the movie looking for deep political discussion :p Some scenes are disgusting but it's a decently funny movie.

![]() Baseball season is around the corner, so I thought I'd watch it and see if I could get some insight. It was pretty well done. The acting, the script, the images, were all solid. Though it kind of took me out of the movie when they did the scenes with the actors playing baseball. Those scenes felt goofy, or cheap. Its hard to describe, but they removed me from the film a bit. Other than that, it was pretty good. It was fun to see some of the process that goes in to putting a team out on the field, especially for a low budget team. 7 /10 Definitely worth watching for any baseball fan. And even if you're not a baseball fan, theres still room to appreciate the movie.

![]() Third time watching this. One of the things that really sticks out in both Fallen Angels and Chungking Express are the endings. Just can't help but smile every time I see either of them.
