Regarding the powerlevel of fighters, expect it to change every second the plot demands it. You have to remember though, that these guys are probably all pretty close to each other. Knights are professional fighters, they train and spar all their life with each other, I am seeing them as SC pros, there are some prodigees and long time champions that have built up their reputation in years of mostly nonlethal battles (ladder) but in a tournament they can suddenly upset everyone because a previously unknown can kill even the champs in a real fight(tournament).

A fifth “Game of Thrones” prequel series is officially in the works at HBO, Variety has confirmed. Bryan Cogman, who has worked on “Game of Thrones” since Season 1, has been tapped to pen a potential fifth prequel project for the network. It was previously known that four prequels were in development, though George R.R. Martin said that a fifth was also in the works. When Martin first spoke of the fifth writer being recruited in May, he said that apart from himself and “Thrones” experts Elio Garcia and Linda Antonsson, “I don’t know anyone who knows and loves Westeros as well as he does.” Cogman has worked on the show in various capacities over the years, most recently as a writer and co-executive producer. Among the episodes Cogman has written for the series are “Stormborn,” the second episode of Season 7, and “The Broken Man, the seventh episode of Season 6 which introduced the character of Lyanna Mormont. The four writers previously announced are Max Borenstein (“Kong: Skull Island”), Jane Goldman (“Kingsman: The Golden Circle”), Brian Helgeland (“Legend”), and Carly Wray (“Mad Men,” “The Leftovers”). Details for the five projects are being kept under tight guard, though Martin has made clear that each project is a prequel rather than a spinoff and that none of the current main cast of the series will be involved. He has also ruled out fan theories that any of them will focus on his characters Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon the Unlikely, or Dunk and Egg as they are popularly known. He has also said that Robert’s Rebellion will not be the subject of any of the prequels. Source

Personally, I know which aspect of Game of Thrones I'd like to see expanded, although its a massively long time period that the network could pick and chose from. Because I'd like to see the time where The Targaryens actually ruled Westeros, with their dragons in tow. It would be interesting to see the power dynamics in the show reversed, and see a blonde haired dragon that isn't named Dany.. Source

The general storyline is also known just by watching GoT which is a negative. Though personally i wouldn't mind it because execution > plot. But in my experience most people think differently. Source Would be really fun imo, best case something which can end with Targaryen succession wars, but that would be too costly for sure :D

If you do the rebellion you basically have to do everything which is connected to Rhaegar, this probably includes summerhall as well. Would be really fun imo, best case something which can end with Targaryen succession wars, but that would be too costly for sure :D Yeah, that would be one of the 3 interesting periods, well 4 if you count Robert's rebellion, the other 2 being the the Blackfyre rebellion and Aegon's conquest, that are famous even among those who havent read the books because they've been referenced on the show many times. But at the end it, like you said, its more about the execution rather then the plot itself. If they want to do a spin off about Targaryiens, a period without dragons would be my pick, so either the 3 Blackfyre rebellions or Robert's rebellion, because again like you said, it would be too costly and CGI intensive, especially in later seasons when salaries become too high.

Before the Red Wedding, I didn't take the hundreds of warnings not to trust Walder Frey into serious consideration. I didn't expect that Roose would be capable of such drastic action. I didn't expect that Robb meeting a girl would distract him from his purpose. All of this makes the experience SO rich, because the impact of that moment is accompanied by a tidal wave of realisation. Asking myself questions like "Why is this significant?" are a huge part of the enjoyment for me. I get an impending sense of all the puzzle pieces coming together before my very eyes, but I can't see the final product until the show drives a stake through my heart. I feel like that would all be lost watching a prequel. EDIT: Grammar
