Dany really only came into contact with oral harpies.

GoT is turning into TWD: All men must die who don't have top billing.

I really hope we get a Rhaegar scene next season, no idea who would be a good cast but the show really needs this.

Some three eyed raven scenes of Targary history would be pretty dope. Maybe some old dragon battles too. Need pixar to donate some time for the cause.

Now imagine they gonna start something "dance of dragons" prequel series after main GoT finishes to show Targaryens civil war, just like about Jon Snow

When they didn't cast him for S6, my impression was that they wanted to save him for a movie/spin-off series afterwards. So I don't think we will see more to him in the show.

I mean in the first few seasons they didn't wanna do any flashbacks, but now with Bran's weirwood net visions it would have been a good idea to show him in one way or another. I wonder if they really plan on doing a spin-off though, i don't see any of the big wars in the past working with the budget of the tv series tbh.

wat
first of all, what does "top billing" mean? What's the cutoff? I suppose you could go by pay, but the last time an actor in the first 5 listed in the casting order whose character died was Season 1, when both Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon were killed. Since then it's been the 3 actors who play the Lannisters + Emilia Clarke + Jon Snow as top 5 billed besides season 2 when Michelle Fairley was up there. So no, GoT never "turned into" a show that doesn't kill top billed characters, because pretty much the only time it ever did that was in season 1. Hard to say who's top billed in a show that has such a huge cast, anyway.
GoT killing starring members is a completely different story, it happens almost every season and I wouldn't be shocked even if some of the most prominent characters (like Cersei) die soon. For example of the 29 members of the starring cast this season, 5 of them died. As a point of reference, in season 1 that was 3 out of 19. In season 2, none of the 26 starring cast members died. + Show Spoiler +Season 3: 4 of 28, season 4: 3 of 27, season 5: 1 of 28
sooo....

ah, didn't notice the context.
my 2 cents on Arya's storyline is that the writing was just poor. I don't agree with the whole "plot armor" thing since it would be even worse writing for her to just randomly die, as it would be a complete waste of a story arc. Characters in Game of Thrones don't just randomly die. I agree that given that she was stabbed, she should've died, but the poor writing was her getting stabbed in the first place, not the fact that she is alive. Her getting stabbed in that situation is very out of character and a bit nonsensical.
also to be clear I don't think her story will be that crucial to the overall plot of the story. I think GRRM could kill her off at some point, say, when she ends up getting a bit greedy for revenge.

if anything, arya randomly dying would have have broken suspension of disbelief even more

I think GRRM could kill her off at some point, say, when she ends up getting a bit greedy for revenge. I think that's a pretty fair analysis. What confuses me is how confidently she walked around Braavos. Out loud declaring that she would leave the next morning. Literally looking longingly at the port even though she knows the waif is after her. She didn't even have needle, and yet the waif who was the ONE person in Braavos who noticed and spoke to her outside the house of B&W caught Arya by surprise. Probably the worst part of it all was Jaqen being all like "ok Arya of House Stark, you killed the waif and basically shat on the Faceless Men as a whole, so u free to go".
|
I think you could argue that the waif proved she was not a worthy assassin for the Faceless God. She may have been no one but she still had her own pride and jealousy.
|
It's true that a man let her go a bit easily. Thinking about it, that was the same guy that was ready to kill himself if Arya said his name, he is THAT comitted to the faceless god. But yeah sure, kill my apprentice, learn our tricks, and move on. You go girl, you go.

My main problem with the Arya storyline is that it looks like they aborted the Faceless Men completely. If it was really just a vehicle to get Arya assassin training, why did we have to watch her scrub floors and listen to death cult religion for two whole seasons.
1. Make actual training one season. 2. Have her perform her first local assignments as an assassin. 3. Make the fallout with the FM based on those local assigments (similar to show) 4. Show her return to Westeros and actually show her on her path to revenge.
2 full seasons painfully slow "training" and then within 2.5 episodes break with FM, travel to Westeros, travel to the Freys, kill the first freys, sneak up to the Lord, kill him was just totally off in terms of screen time spend.
All in all I think Braavos was just wasted opportunity to show a classic lone adventurer story among all the politics and big battles.
Like many other storylines it was probably due to the show runnners stalling while hoping for book 6 to be released. And in the end they realized they had to go rush those storylines back on track based on their own writing.

The thing is, at this point I don't think Winds release will affect the show at all. The question is, can they logically and smoothly bring us to a stop in 13 episodes...

But I believe it was still the assumption for season 5 + 6 that Winds of Winter would be out before shooting on S7 begins. That's why there is all that stalling on storylines where the source material from books 1-5 ran out. And then they had to change plans so a lot feels and will feel rushed from now on I assume.
