Love the feeling of immersion you get from this series as it does a good job of covering several characters. Still, if there's one minor complaint I do have, it would also have to be that very detailed pacing. I'm sure avid fans of the books appreciate how close the series stays true, but I feel that certain actors have been stealing the show (Jon Snow, Arya, Tyrion) and I get rather disappointed another Targaryen scene comes up.
Oh well.. can't wait for the next Sunday! I felt the same way while reading the books about the Targaryen scenes. The way the other plotlines intertwine makes them more interesting at least at this point. Daenerys'(sp.) story does get more interesting but I usually stopped reading the books on those chapters. Also, does anyone know if there is a way to make your sc2 background that gif? Same, I always looked forward to the Eddard, Tyrion or Jon chapters, and usually quit reading for the night when Bran, Sansa or Daenery's came up, at least in Book 1. I've stopped reading Bran and Sansa sections, sometimes Catelyn too. They're just so damn painfully boring compared to anything else. You're going to miss out on some really important events. There is a reason why the author chose to tell the story through these characters. They all have significant roles in the overall story. + Show Spoiler + He has a point though, especially Sansa had some extremely boring parts in the first two books (I just started reading the third so cannot comment on that).
Anyhow, I didn't like the actor for Catherine very much the first episodes. Just didn't.. look like the image I had conjured of her in my mind. But shit, the tavern scene was amazing. Chills all over, the delivery was just perfect. Would've liked if she asked a few more for more of a build up, but hey, it worked. This is an example of a spoiler where you tell which characters are going to survive (I spoiler marked it). Try to avoid doing that. (And about the second part of your post, her name is Catelyn).
+ Show Spoiler +you expect a little girl to be killed?
That and they producers announced they will be killing off a character that survives the books anyway. so uhhhh

Ho shit I loved the ending of that last episode and the preview of the next one looks amazing. all the charicters are just well done. don't know about the diolouge and they play a bit to hard to the notion of what the winter is and not just saying "winter is coming" in hushed tone but its a really well done show so far.

No one is safe in these books, and yes they said someone would be killed off but we still shouldn't talk about it without spoiler tags.

The most uninteresting person in the first book, but all right then. And yeah, not sure why I typed Catherine.

There is, but it hasn't been revealed in the show yet. as with most story arcs in the book this will be explained bit by bit I suppose

The difference is, this made sense from the beginning in the book. They really did a bad job making sense of the three-eyed crow dream in the show.

just wanna say that tyrion's never ending trolling/insults (in this episodes towards thenon) are hilarious

That was the first dream, I didn't really get it but it actually did something instead of just looking at him.

There's actually an ASoIaF RTS in the making, can't be bothered to google the link.

Unfortunately I was not really happy with the first episode. Production value was quite high, and Eddard is great. The king and Bran and Arya were good too, and Cersei might just be the best actress on the show. But Jaime was awful. Lady Stark was meh. And worst of all, my favorite character (Tyrion) was too cheery. In the books I always found him too bitter/cynical/devious, but he just seems a little too well adjusted in the show.
There were too many moments of cheese for me to get into it (the generic medieval music played during the feast made me facepalm), all of the kal-drogo stuff, but the story is awesome (obviously...). I'm hoping this is just the typical bad pilot that turns into a great series.
Jaime's character really begins to look a lot better as the episodes go on. Tyrion gets better too, although personally I thought he was great in episode one. Catelyn is Catelyn, I don't think you could expect much for that character. I'm surprised by all the hate on Tyrion, I feel he dominates the scenes he is in and the actor is fantastic. Reading book one as the eps come out, very cool the amount of lines that are pulled directly from the book. My only complaint about Ep 4 was that I feel like 1 minute too long was spent on the bath scene, and it didn't seem to have a critical role.

Any time I click a nested quote or a spoiler, it redirects me to the top of the page and doesn't open. What should I do?

Damn right, Tyrion is not only the best character, a real breath of fresh air, he is also acted by one of the strongest actors in the show. Great episode, . I hear a lot of people saying 'there are no good/bad people in AGOT' but I'm finding it hard not to see the Starks as good, I mean at least they are straightforward.

The first season is definetely painting the Starks as good and the Lannisters as evil, but without spoiling anything, as the books go on you have decide for each character if they are good or evil.
