Yes animals can be turned into wights like the horse you mentioned. Those ravens didn't seem to be reanimated to me iirc. I haven't read the books so I am just speculating, but they seemed to be present only when the White Walker was around and made a lot of noise obviously. I guess it can be interpreted that the ravens were leading the White Walkers to Sam, or that the ravens were alerting Sam to the threat of the White Walkers. We'll have to keep watching to find out. Bookers don't spoil.
As for magic stuff happening, there's also the witch that cursed Dany's baby and husband. Not to mention Dany herself, stepping into fire and coming out unscathed.

We know next to nothing about them. As of now, we don't know where they come from, we don't know why they woke up, we don't know what they are really capable of.
All we know is that they have superhuman abilities (great strength, the ability to raise men and animals from the dead, other magic powers such as shattering weapons with their bare hands apparently), and that they are vulnerable to Dragonglass, otherwise known as obsidian. We also know this isn't the first time they've appeared, as old tales from the North speak of the First Men, the Andals and the Children of the Forest allying to defeat them some 8000 years ago.
You can differentiate them by their looks, really. Wights looks like zombies, whereas White Walkers look humanoid but not like humans. They seem to be made of ice, or something. In the show, they've appeared on screen three times that I can recall: in the intro of the pilot, at the very end of season 2 when one of them is leading an army of wights, and in season 3 when a White Walker shows up to take Gilly's baby when she and Sam flee from Craster's Keep.
The "Others" are the White Walkers. This is just their "normal name", the one that is most used in the books (that is okay to say right? Since I am explaining the term, which is barely used in the show?). In the show, I believe they are mostly called White Walkers. There must have been like two references to them as the Others?
You can find tons of info about them on the show's wiki without spoiling yourself, since it only speaks about the story that has gone on in the show, and nothing more: http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/White_Walkers
Ah thank you very much for clearing that up. I guess I was curious about the "Others" because I must have thought that that name was used when speaking of the 2 wights that attacked Castle Black, but apparently not. What were those 2 referred to that episode? I thought I recalled Pip, Jeor or somebody saying that Jon killed one of the Others or a White Walker, not a wight, but perhaps not apparently.
And we don't know what caused those 2 to rise as wights then either? Also, I remember the Wildlings suggesting that all bodies be burned, so they don't turn into them supposedly. So fire kills wights, and dragonglass kills White Walkers/Others. Jon killed a wight, Sam killed a White Walker.
Edit: Just read in the Wiki you sent me that a wight is a reanimated corpse, either human or animal, raised from death by the White Walkers to act as their minions. Both wights and White Walkers have icy blue eyes. And how you mentioned it can explode weapons: "They can also freeze anything they touch, as one froze Sam's sword to the point that it shattered. "
They are named White Walkers in the show so it doesn't confuse the audience with "The Others"from the tv show LOST.

It seems to be some new form of magic is being revealed every time. It's certainly not a downpour of spells and stuff, but it is becoming more and more important.
Can someone quickly outline all of the magic that is apparent in the show? I don't care what season they are from or what order; I am just trying to keep track at how much influence magic has in the show.
What was already said: White walkers, shadow demon, dragons, warging, giants. And to add to that: resurrection (Beric Dondarion), flaming sword (Donderion), skin changer (forgot his name; valar morghulis dude that Arya saved), vision into the future (Mellisandre and green sight?), mind controlling animals/humans (Bran), and...........??
PLEASE no spoilers!!! Thank you!
Its a page late, but the flaming sword is not magic. Its coated in Wildfire then lit on fire. The giants are probably not magic either, although we can't know of course.
The great thing about the return of GoT is that the threads are back alive.
Excludos: Magic can be what is magic from the point of view of the viewer, or it can mean things that can seems magic from the point of view of a person in that world. Even giants seems to be just silly stories for one who is from King's Landing. So in that sense, pagan believes are close to magical believes. The difference you point out exists, its just not relevant in our description of the what is extraordinary in this world.

The fiery sword is actually magic. In that episode, Gendry talks about how Thoros used to buy a ton of swords from his old blacksmith master for tournaments. At that point in time, Thoros was barely a priest and didn't believe in his own religion, so he did use wildfire to light them on fire.
However here, you can clearly see there is no wildfire. Beric Dondarrion simply cuts his hand and with Thoros' enchantment, it catches on fire from his blood. I think that if the Brotherhood Without Banners had access to wildfire, they'd use it.... wildly.
edit: The giants aren't magic no, but they're mystical creatures. I'm sure the direwolves could fit in there somehow, because they appeared at an odd timing, and are bond to the Starks.
The Hound is such a bad ass. A shame that they cut the scene that he did in his audition from season 1 where he tells Sansa how he got burned, and gave it to Littlefinger instead.

I hope Jorah leaves the boat before it sinks because right now I cannot see Dany succeeding in conquering the iron throne: she rules with emotion only and does what she wants, she has a strange sense of justice but still wants to conquer the world making everything complicated, she has been extremely lucky and it will inevitably stop, she can't really control her dragons and fears them, she looks weak to Dario's advances (that scene when she blushes after getting some flowers), and her advisers are either in love with her or respect her too much so they don't say anything. Btw Dario was cooler last season, he looked more illuminated too.

When you put it like that Jorah is perfect match for her. He fell in love with a foreigner, brought her home to his island and showered her with all his valuables until he had nothing left and then started doing slavery to earn more money. She left him, he escaped justice to the Essos and there met a young Daeneris who he fell in love (again) and gave her all he has (including his pardon and a way back home) and does foolish stuff for her all the time (like going with Grey Wolf and whoever was third to attack the city alone from the inside). Jorah has nothing to get away from, he is exactly where he belongs :D

Well for how long is a man content staying in the friendzone though? :D
I'm rewatching the earlier seasons, and I found something very strange. Robb sends off Theon to the iron islands to gather ships to take kings landing. But if you look at the map of westeros that makes no sense at all, the iron island ships would be on the wrong side of the continent, it would be much easier to walk to kings landing....?

Idk I want him to survive and do something good because he feels like a moral and down to earth character. The role I would have him play is to betray her and tell Westeros when she is coming back with her army. To me he feels like guy that protects dany but that will also protect the world from her.

Well, I don't think he expected to take King's Landing (especially the castle) in a day. And in a prolonged siege situation it is vital to have naval dominance to blockade any supplies to the city. The Onion Knight is the best example.
I don't remember him saying the ships were specifically for King's Landing, but that is how I would explain it. Aside from that being able to block sea supply lines in general would be advantageous.
