for me sansa has been the most annoying character.
Hmmm do you hate sansa for these reasons? For me arya and danny are my two fav characters.
no particular reason, its just her naive/ignorant/lady-like character. she just reminds me of generic girls that are hopeless without any help, dont know how to drive, dont know how to cook, dont know direction, etc. etc.
i understand shes sad and all...but daenerys goes to form an army after losing her family and being forced, arya turns kick ass after losing her family, catelyn turns vicious for the safety of her kids, sansa...just cries in the corner.
As far as I can see, she is the sane counterpart to her slowly turning crazy siblings.
The cripple brother goes on a suicide mission because of some bad dreams and last episode little Arya finally crossed the line and became a cold hearted murder just like everybody else.
Quite honestly, I thought the premiere was rushed and the acting was very lacking. I understand they put less emphasis on this episode because the next episode will have a giant wedding that costed them millions to produce but even still. The scenes were quick and childish. I mean come on, the whole competition between grey worm and the assassin with sassy talk from Dany was just disappointing. It felt like I was watching a teenage romance drama. The only good parts were the introduction of those bald wildlings and John Snow's trial. The build up was great, we got to see many old characters and the last line made me laugh. But everything else... I guess I just expected more.
The first episode was a bit slow, I agree. Would've been nice to see something of bigger significance, after this break. But whatever. I guess I am mostly pissed off about the fact that they switched actors for the Daario role (yeah, I know he left, but still)...

for me its frustrating, if you hate joffery so much stab him with a dagger, burn kings landing, cherrybomb a toilet, leave poop in tywins shoes, do something if you dislike something/someone so much...but she just cries. by no means i think her character is bad, the character is understandable, but annoying as she succumbs to the forces instead of fighting it.
as far as i know, not being crazy in westoros gets you killed...and would make game of thrones rather boring.
At least you can't complain about incredible luck in Sansa's story. It's getting more and more annoying every time Daenerys finds some miraculous way to deal with grave dangers. Whenever she gets in trouble she just yells something like "mother of dragons!!1" and suddenly she gets a new ally or her dragons just burn everything down. Maybe it was exciting before Qarth but now it's getting a bit ridiculous.
Season 1 Sansa is basically the medieval version of that popular girl in high school that everyone thought was kind of a bitch. I did end up pitying her and I hope she ends up getting her revenge. She's the only Stark that's in a position to do it (in political terms), as one's a bastard who took an oath and the other three are missing.

It's her defense mechanism. Sansa can be annoying, but she has survived through a hell of a lot. More than Dany.
Don't get me wrong, Dany has been through a lot too. Her brother abused her for years, she was sold and raped, then she adapted and became strong. Now she's just petty though. That line she says in the trailer: "I will do what queens do. I will rule" is just delivered in an obnoxious and overly haughty manner. She could use a defeat or two to learn some humility.
However, she was too young to really suffer from her father dying. She doesn't remember him. She doesn't even know or believe he was mad. Her mother died at birth, so same here. Sansa on the other hand... Her parents spent a lot of time and energy raising her. Ned was an incredibly dedicated father, I mean, his final act was to forsake his whole honor in the hope of protecting his family. Sansa had someone like that ripped away from her life, and then her mother too, who loved her children and loved Sansa. Sansa has learned a very bitter lesson, because she was always the little brat who thinks her parents are lame because they're not the royal family from King's Landing. And now well, she's completely destroyed over what has become of her family.
So, yeah, she can be a little pathetic, but it's how she survives. And I don't think many people could have handled what she went through.

It seems to be some new form of magic is being revealed every time. It's certainly not a downpour of spells and stuff, but it is becoming more and more important.
Can someone quickly outline all of the magic that is apparent in the show? I don't care what season they are from or what order; I am just trying to keep track at how much influence magic has in the show.
What was already said: White walkers, shadow demon, dragons, warging, giants. And to add to that: resurrection (Beric Dondarion), flaming sword (Donderion), skin changer (forgot his name; valar morghulis dude that Arya saved), vision into the future (Mellisandre and green sight?), mind controlling animals/humans (Bran), and...........??

PLEASE no spoilers!!! Thank you!
White Walkers, wights, dragons, giants, shadow demons, warging, resurrection, flaming sword, shapeshifting, future telling, greensight (or green dreams, Jojen), visions of various kinds from the House of the Undying, multiplication/teleportation/visual tricks from the Warlocks of Qarth, king's blood (the leeches), valyrian steel to some extent.. Can't think of any others right now.

White walkers and wights: The wights are reanimated corpses? Such as the 2 bodies that attacked Old Bear/Jon Snow and the other guys when they brought their bodies back to Castle Black? Are White Walkers also reanimated corpses? But are "icy" and have blue eyes? Wights have black hands? How are wights and white walkers made? Also, what are the "Others" then, white walkers or wights? Someone please differentiate for me and where they come from in the series.
The wights are the reanimated corpses, yes. The White Walkers are the mysterious supernatural beings who seem to come from the extreme north. We know next to nothing about them. As of now, we don't know where they come from, we don't know why they woke up, we don't know what they are really capable of.
All we know is that they have superhuman abilities (great strength, the ability to raise men and animals from the dead, other magic powers such as shattering weapons with their bare hands apparently), and that they are vulnerable to Dragonglass, otherwise known as obsidian. We also know this isn't the first time they've appeared, as old tales from the North speak of the First Men, the Andals and the Children of the Forest allying to defeat them some 8000 years ago.
You can differentiate them by their looks, really. Wights looks like zombies, whereas White Walkers look humanoid but not like humans. They seem to be made of ice, or something. In the show, they've appeared on screen three times that I can recall: in the intro of the pilot, at the very end of season 2 when one of them is leading an army of wights, and in season 3 when a White Walker shows up to take Gilly's baby when she and Sam flee from Craster's Keep.
The "Others" are the White Walkers. This is just their "normal name", the one that is most used in the books (that is okay to say right? Since I am explaining the term, which is barely used in the show?). In the show, I believe they are mostly called White Walkers. There must have been like two references to them as the Others?
You can find tons of info about them on the show's wiki without spoiling yourself, since it only speaks about the story that has gone on in the show, and nothing more: http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/White_Walkers

Yea I think that's ok.
The White Walkers and Others are the same thing just called by different names for whatever reason. The lore in the show hasn't deviated from what I can tell from what's in the book.

Ah thank you very much for clearing that up. I guess I was curious about the "Others" because I must have thought that that name was used when speaking of the 2 wights that attacked Castle Black, but apparently not. What were those 2 referred to that episode? I thought I recalled Pip, Jeor or somebody saying that Jon killed one of the Others or a White Walker, not a wight, but perhaps not apparently.
And we don't know what caused those 2 to rise as wights then either? Also, I remember the Wildlings suggesting that all bodies be burned, so they don't turn into them supposedly. So fire kills wights, and dragonglass kills White Walkers/Others. Jon killed a wight, Sam killed a White Walker.
Edit: Just read in the Wiki you sent me that a wight is a reanimated corpse, either human or animal, raised from death by the White Walkers to act as their minions. Both wights and White Walkers have icy blue eyes. And how you mentioned it can explode weapons: "They can also freeze anything they touch, as one froze Sam's sword to the point that it shattered. "

In that episode, they were referred to as wights, which is what they are. They rose because they were reanimated by a White Walker. One would assume they had specific orders to kill Jeor Mormont, or were being controlled to do so.
You are correct about the rest, Jon killed a wight, and Sam killed a White Walker.
can animals be like turned into wights? i remember seeing the whitewalkers horse not being a normal one, also those ravens that like attacked sam (were they wights too?) Have they mentioned it at all through the show? (omg imagine if giants from the wildling army could be turned into wights)
