That part when Jon mentioned giants and the dude who's just exiled to the wall, the former kings landing guard commander, starts laughing at Jon. But then he looks at the commander and maester Aemon, and they don't even blink at the mention of the word giant. I thought that was a great moment too.
Also why is that guy so high ranked in the night watch already? I thought that in the nightwatch former ranks and titles didn't count, benjen Stark even said something to Jon Snow like "you're better than no one, here a man only gets things when he owns it"

Bets for next episode: Stannis Some Bolton scenes wich might include Theon Maybe Gendry? Shouldnt he be back in Kings Landing by now? wonder what he is up to...

Might be why.

I got the feeling fom the scene that Slynt and Thorne are in cahoots.

The mark of a true badass is when you only find out who they are the moment they put a sword through your neck.

Loved the episode, the guy playing Oberyn is awesome and that last scene with Arya and the hound haha.

I was skeptical when they announced Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell but he really brought the Oberyn-esque half mad-half even more mad smiling swagger. That's all I really wanted :D

Haha Arya that made a rather uneventful episode amazing. The guy who played the guy who stole her sword had the perfect look on his face after she recited the lines he said to her.
I love this girl. Quite quickly becoming my favorite character

I thought that in the nightwatch former ranks and titles didn't count, benjen Stark even said something to Jon Snow like "you're better than no one, here a man only gets things when he owns it" Imho that's true in theory, but in practice not so much: Commander Jeor Mormont, Maester Aemon, Benjen, Alliser Thorne all are from better families (I suppose, the common people dont tend to have surnames). Like Tyrion said at some point in the first season, Jon was "trained by a master-at-arms, while his fellow recruits probably never held a sword before". Same things can be said about skills like discipline, leadership, reading/writing, fighting experience etc. Why do you think Commander Mormont and Maester Aemon chose Jon and Sam to work with closely? True, you former ranks, titles and families dont count on their own; but everything you got as a consequence of those things still does.
Now imagine what it means when the former commander of the city watch of kings landing joins the watch.

Btw is it me or the old actor for Dario was like x10 times better.
The Hound really loves his chickens lmao. From what I understood Oberyn's brother was invited, but he couldn't attend due to some health issues or something? So the Martell's sent Oberyn who's the second oldest son.
But given how everything works in GoT I'd say the older brother didn't not come intentionally, Oberyn seemed to make a case for himself when Tyrion asks him why he came to the capital.

Titles don't matter, but the prestige and place of the former title and how it affects those around you still does. You don't get commander of the city watch by being a good soldier. Likely you'd need to be cunning, show exemplary leadership and be well spoken to top it off, not to mention likely being corrupt.
Night's watch is an army of criminals and misfits. Pretty sure the more senior members can judge character quite well after so many years.

So one thing that bothered me in the scene with the Dornish prince. If he and his house hated the Lannisters so much, why didn't they join either Rob's rebellion or Stannis' rebellion? They could have opened up an entire second front, splitting the Lannister soldiers even more.
And furthermore, why would they accept one of the Cercei's daughters as a bride if they hated them so much?
Seems easier to just topple the Lannisters and wed the victors.

They really nailed it with the casting for Oberyn and Ellaria as well.
Spot on, Charles Dance is just a BAMF in this show.

The blade he forged for Jaime was created from the valyrien steel of Ned's sword right? Tywin you cruel bastard, I'd hate you so much if I didn't love you!

Yeah pretty sure that was it, Neds was the only one that was massive afaik.
Interesting to see where the other sword went, unless Tywin just made it for himself - maybe Joffrey got one.
