It probably makes more sense than you would think at first. Game of Thrones is a long term commitment, he was an unknown actor getting his big break on GoT, and he was new to the show. He probably wasn't getting paid as much as some of the other actors and wasn't in a position to demand a raise to match what the movie studios are offering him. Many people in the cast of GoT will only be able to do this show for as long as it's on the air, and then will never get another major role because everyone just sees them as that one character they played for so many years. There could be risks and benefits either way.

his sister was married to Prince Rhaegar Targaryen before the big civil war that predates the show. When the Lannisters took over Kings Landing and killed the King, The Mountain raped and murdered oberyn's sister and her children. Oberyn's sort of upset about this, particularly since he's sure Tywin ordered it. He's come for the big wedding, and also for some murder.

The Lannisters were in King's Landing before just about anybody during the revolt against the Targaryens. The Clegane brothers, the Mountain and the Hound, a notorious pair, work for the Lannisters (at least the Hound did until he abandoned Joffrey). In that invasion of King's Landing against the Targaryens, the Mountain is said to have brutalized a woman and her kids. That woman was a Martell, Oberyn's sister.

oberlyn's sister elia was married to rhaegar the last dragon, had two kids, rhaegar left wife for another woman which caused a war. during that process elia and her kids died. rumor says the mountain, who works under tywin, raped and killed elia.
awesome episode from action to comedy. hand waving to chickens, many laughs.

You can dress a cavemen into nice clothes and give them cars to drive, but they are still cavemen. Drogo is alpha male. charismatic, brutal and dominates and cavemen (and women) like that.

Haha why would they invite Oberon or someone from their family to their wedding? This season is the time when the Lannisters are doing dumb moves like the Starks in previous seasons. We know what that means, Lannisters are gonna die oh hell yea !
Btw is it me or the old actor for Dario was like x10 times better.

Because in last season they made peace with Martell and sent Cersei's daughter there to wed Martell prince. Also Martell were invited to be part of small council. Why would they not invite an "ally" to the wedding?

I think it would be considered a great insult to not invite the ruling house of Dorne as well as a "trusted" ally to a royal wedding. Especially considering they have Myrcella living at Sunspear.
