Last one was a good surprise, more fun to read than what I expected and it turns out public debt as a mean of gaining power ain't exactly new, surprise, surprise. Also Maupassant was a bit more lively than in the short stories I've read, and even if the novel is still very cynical in many ways, it can be read more as a cry for revolt. Nothing unexpected to say about the rest I guess. Melville is great, Beckett is a bit boring, and Baudrillard is an interesting provocateur. Now, I'm going to read two well-known sci-fi authors I've avoided so far, Ballard's Crash, because of the theme, and Barjavel's Ravage because a teacher told me it sucked a long time ago. Time to see for myself. Also bought a Bible yesterday, yipee.

I can't buy an 800 page book and not read the rest, though. =) On June 12 2014 11:21 Nyxisto wrote: Also because I needed to satisfy my pulpy fantasy needs I picked up 'Way of Kings'. But nothing ever happens in this book! I'm like 300 pages in, is this going to continue for the rest of the book or is the story going to speed up at some point? It really picks up around 600 pages in and then it paces itself really well. And if you're thinking "Man, who's got time for 600 pages," well, the pace continues into the next book and doesn't seem to let up so it actually is quite worth it.

Rarely it is a thought that has not occurred to me before, but the way he presents it is so unique and breathtakingly beautiful! I can see why you like him so much, corum. ![]() I read Borges' Ficciones : the first part was truly amazing imo, the ideas of writing about books that haven't been written seems to be exploited to the maximum in all the directions one could wish. Greatly written too. I'm a fan of Pierre Menard too, hilarious and brilliant at the same time ! I liked the second part a bit less, but it was still pretty good ![]() Crash was an interesting experience of craziness, I quite enjoyed it all in all. The descriptions felt a bit short of Ballard's objectives, I guess it's hard to keep on going about sexual fantasies involving cars for 350 pages, but it was inventive enough to keep me going.

![]() ![]() I was pleasantly surprised by how effing good Riyria Revelations was. I read the first book in a few days and ordered the second installment right away on sale. Third book will be purchased with my next big book order. A Wild Sheep Chase was good, but probably the book I least liked by Murakami as of yet. Currently Reading: ![]()

I'm actually liking it quite a bit. It seems to me like GoT, but more realistic and with better writing.

![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_Kill_a_Mockingbird Seems like a decent book. Plot somewhat boring but the setting is unique to me since I normally don't read about rural US that far in the past. Halfway in a solid 3 stars out of 5. Other than that I am finishing up the last few side stories in the Honor Harrington Universe, 5 to go. Read all the main storyline books a while ago (some a few years ago). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honorverse

I don't think it's particularly boring, I just don't have that much time to read at the moment :/

Allegiant by Veronica Roth With the Divergent movie out I felt the need to finish reading the Trilogy. Maze Runner Trilogy by James Dashner I devoured all 3 books so quickly. They were highly action packed with surprisingly little romance for YA books! Reading: The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman I'm excited to be picking up one of his newest novels even if its not a sequel to American Gods >.>
