Never cited anything, never wrote an actual argument except talking about housecats and linking some shitty indie band. Great job. Wow, I actually thought you guys were having a pretty civil and even interesting discussion until this post. Why the sudden 180? On May 28 2014 09:25 zulu_nation8 wrote: i shouldve said anything instead of anyone then, i wanted to read stuff i can digest instead of analogies about housecats and indie bands. It's not relying on authority, we're talking about literary culture and spirits and shit, not metaphysical forms. Either way this ended. I'm confused, when you say you want to read something you can digest, are you referring to a desire for simple non high-brow book recommendations, or are you directing an ad hominem at bookwyrm? Because if it's logical clarity you're looking for, then you're hardly holding up your side of the argument, and if it's simple book recommendations you're after, then you've done a miraculous job of entangling yourself in a number of arguments about seemingly anything OTHER than that.

Furthermore, house cats shouldn't be proclaimed as 'dead' just because they can't be lions.

He's got gorgeous prose, and if you're into history at all putting together some of the parallels between his fictional settings and reality is quite fun. His stories and characters are a bit unsatisfying, but overall one of the best novelists I've read. Just finished rereading Snow Falling on Cedars, not bad though a bit wordy at times. I'm just quoting this because GUY GAVRIEL KAY. I kinda take issue with your description of him though as "just nice words on a page." I know you said more than that in the rest of the paragraph, but that is a kind of terrible lead-in, since he is so, so, so much more than that (and I would actually argue that his prose may be considered by some to be his weakest point). He is easily one of fantasy's strongest theme-focused writers though. Also, if you have any aspirations to write a novel, he's just someone you should read, 'cause he makes it so clear what you should and shouldn't do when novel-writing, what is and isn't effective. You can really take his stuff apart and actually learn something from every single novel he's published. Also, guys, Robin Hobb has a new Fitz and the Fool book coming out in the next few months. It's gotten really great reviews so far! :D Also, yeah, put me down for the housecats. Lions make it hard to focus on the story.

I think the plot was really original which made up for the lack of overarching story progress. It's quite nice to see how much better his writing has gotten if you compare book #1 or #2 to the newer ones. Changes probably remains my favorite though. Also reading this know: ![]() I never knew Stalker was based off a novel, please let me know how it is after you finish it I'd probably want to read it.
