really enjoy the series even with the slow plot movement.

especially the bi yearly cases that have kid in it.

I think the director once said he wanted to stop the series but the fans won't let him.

Kindaichi Case Files (another super popular detective anime/manga which is more realistic) had a special anime movie featuring both detectives working together.

personally I prefer Kindaichi Case Files because while the art work isn't that good, the stories are written by two of the better detective novel writers and so the story is more serious and interesting

This one was really good but only like 12 chapters translated into English :< And I think chapters are missing in the translation. :<

Happy to see Kindaichi Case Files getting mentioned. I also found it more enjoyable and is sad that there doesn't seem to be much recognition (because there isn't much translation done?).

Loved it as a kid. Been thinking of getting into it again, but I don't have the time. I have a list of plot relevant episodes + good non-plot relevant episodes (no idea how accurate it is though), so I might just go with that some day.

Now that I think about it, would be cool if they made something like Dragonball Kai for Conan.

That's not gonna happen lol. With Detective Conan you can just skip the irrelevant episodes. In DBZ, there were bits and pieces in every dragged out episode so you had to go through each episode. =_=

I'm currently downloading the plot-relevant episodes. ^^

I said this earlier but which plot because there are about 12 of them and honestly things that don't involve one of those 12 plots are probably around only 200 of the 760 episodes. Granted I have not seen it since DCTP stopped translating but I can safely say of around the first 600 odd episodes you probably could only cut out a small portion of them.

All. And about half or more of the episodes are completely irrelevant.

I never completely fell for the show because there were so many riddles based on the japanese language which kind of sucks if you don't know Japanese. Also how much time has passed since the very first episode? Neither Conan nor his friends have grown an inch, last time I checked. One of the best detectives in the world and he doesn't find that mysterious?

back when i followed conan haibara's story is so much more interesting than ran. the author was teasing a haibara route for a while then idk what happened to it. for shame

Kindaichi and Detective Academy Q are both amazing detective manga too.
Gosho Aoyama's previous work, Yaiba, is a great fighting manga. I highly recommend it. You can see Mr. Aoyama is also very good at drawing fighting scenes.

There is a HUGE Arabic sub community for Detective Conan. The Anime started getting dubbed in the late 90s but then the dubbing process started getting much slower. So a group of people started subbing episodes and now there's this insane Arabic forum dedicated to Conan. One of my favorite series ever, never gets old <3!

well you can think of it as

conan is a show that's made for the fillers, the entire plot is just a framing device so he can go solve random sketchy mysteries

so really, the filler is the plot and the plot is the filler

dun dun dunnnn

Still buying Conan tankobon out of habit since 1996 lol. I wonder how many volumes does it take to get back to the plot again after revealing Akai on the train
