Probably would dislike Ran the next most because she's so oblivious to everything. At least Kogoro can be kind of funny about it. Ran just cries Mouri Kogoro is a straight up dick. Him and Sonoko are my two least favorite characters in DC.

Can't dislike kogoro's simply because the way they voice his character is hilarious. Especially when he's put to sleep by conan.
Concerning Kogoro I know it's his whole image and the way Conan solves his cases but I wish he got more cases where he actually seems like a decent detective and doesn't just always present the most obvious theory only to get proven wrong in the very next sentence. In one of the earlier episodes there was his class reunion and Conan didn't solve the cases himself because he saw how determined Kogoro was to find the culprit and later even got it (with a bit of help from Conan). He actually seemed like a badass.

Always hitting him and picking him up and throwing him out of the room. That's f*ing barbaric. What kind of father/human being does that to a child? Especially when that "child" is the only damn reason people know your name.

Grrr I love those flashbacks so now I must debate between reading the manga again or waiting for the never translated anime to catch up.

Is this series likely to end anytime soon?

Nope not a chance.

No signs of it ending anytime soon considering it's still Gosho Aoyama's Cash cow he will milk for as long as possible. (which i don't mind)
But with him dropping more hints concerning the BO lately maybe he's thiinking about it. Then again the story has been going for so long when we finally enter the finaly arc with a face off against the Black Organisation it will probably be 2 years worth of chapters.

He is dropping hints to keep people interested, he could very easily run another few major black organization cases just to build suspense over the next 5 years and we would still be no closer to an ending because he can just introduce new characters.

Haibara ends up finding out that she had a long lost twin brother. Ran finds out that her mother is pregnant and Mouri Kogoro is not the father. Sato and Takagi get married but then the BO crash the wedding and forces the police to finally start investigating things. Shiratori dies and no one know how or why. Bourbon is actually working for the FBI and is trying to track down Akai Shuuichi. Gin decides to personally step in and take care of things and get involved for once. Vermouth turns out to be another villain for Conan to chase but she is not actually working for the BO, and is in fact, working for a rival organization that is even more sinister and more evil. A major character finds out about Conan's identity and dies in the process, forcing Conan to slowly lose his mind and become paranoid.

Well on a happy note DCTP now have 888 done but not 886 or 887 which is both weird and confusing and makes me wonder why they did it out of order.

if you ask me it's probably because the case(885,886,887) is dumb, although I could be wrong.

The case did seem fairly dumb and the new case did look much more interesting but its still weird that they just skipped it.
