My friend made this video. Watching him cut together all of the scenes during the heavy drum sections, using VHS decks, and synchronizing the transitions, was quite amazing. It still ranks as one of my favorite AMVs, because the music and the subject of those clips goes together well. | ||

Now I'm sorry that I'm here, I know all of you prefer people with nothing good to say to stay the fuck away, but I MUST ASK: Why do people love AMVs so much? I try to reason with it and look at it with an open mind as I do with everything else, but I'm not open minded enough to learn to tolerate AMVs and stay silent, I even openly complain about them at anime conventions (guess that makes me dumb and ignorant). I guess besides the bad first impressions (false and misleading vids) I have an issue with how people basically just take clips from an anime and edit them together with music, and then people worship and glorify them enough to have some huge AMV contest at an anime convention (Anime Boston in my case). Sure editing takes time and effort, but it's not a completely original piece of cinematography or w/e that I would praise and it's also not the same as a "frag" movie either. I respect the people who enjoy watching them and making them (the one's who put "AMV" in the title), I just don't like the AMVs themselves, sorry for being the negative nancy here guys. | ||

The anime is Scrapped Princess, and the song is Vanity by Yuki Kajiura, which I don't think has shown up in any anime. | ||

I ALMOST absolutely hate AMVs, I just happen to find exactly two of them cool. hahaha. IMO they're just hype videos that get you pumped for anime. | ||

Real talk I dont really watch them so much now but when I used to I did it for the music to see if I would like it. I did not really watch it for the videos because as you said it it is just clips from scenes from the show. Regardless this one I kind of liked. | ||

Everyone is welcome to their opinion obviously, but if you're looking for a reponse.. well you didn't really make any rational points to respond to. The title of an AMV on YouTube doesn't change it's content, so that's not relevant when talking about the AMVs themselves, and if they were original pieces then they would be apples instead of the oranges that this thread is about, so that's not relevant either. Have you seen some of the AMVs that win the big competitions? They tend to be much more than throwing together some clips to an over used track. Action: Sad-ish: Put you in a good mood: | ||

"Why do people love AMVs so much?" was what I was looking for a response for. Everything else was just my in-the-moment-hot-headed spat about how I don't like AMVs, if you didn't like it or didn't understand it, it's okay. I also did mention that I didn't like the AMVs themselves, not just the misleading titles that some youtubers upload them with, because hey if I did fall in love with them I'd be contributing here too. | ||

This one I'm not sure if it counts as AMV, but it is pretty hilarious This one has very great video quality, but on youtube it is not really visible. Still better watch it with 720p. | ||
