Personally I loved it (copy/pasted plot included), to speak in starcraft terms - it was really fucking well executed. It really wasn't, nothing about this movie was remotely decent outside of the visuals. Execution is certainly a word that comes to mind when considering how to deal with those responsible for a plot/script so half-baked, hole ridden and cheesy that it made World War Z look like a writing masterclass. Not to mention the acting. I have nfi how you can think any of the performances were even average (except for the Japanese girl). It says something about how shitty the writing is when an actor like Idris Elba looks this bad.

Saw it a second time and still liked it so it passes the repeat viewing test for me.

Man this was truly gold.
+ Show Spoiler +I just wish the Russian and Chinese Jaeger didn't get owned so badly after 30 seconds of screen time.

Finally going to watch this on friday, at least it's the earliest possible time where I live.

That was the worst and most cliché'd dialogue I've ever witnessed. Not once did I feel anything for any of the characters as they were all incredibly bland. At least the characters in pacific rim had some semblance of personality.

The fighting and CGI was cool to some extent, but doesn't get the top marks either. Story, Scripting, Dialog was all bad. The best thing about the movie was the superb acting of Idris Elba, hopefully it's gonna land him some more roles so I get to see him more often.

I dont know. The story was really bad, a lot of logic holes even for "giant robot vs giant monsters"-story. Ridicolous logicholes, over and over again it didnt make any sense. Which made it really unenjoyable for me...
The fights were somehow static, always the same setting, either a generic city or the ocean...You feel like the whole story concerning the earth takes place in a little room and a big swimmingpool. It didnt feel like the whole world had a huge problem but a bunch of giant robotwarriors had trouble with some aliens in their neighborhood.
I would give it 5/10 since i like the idea of giant robots vs aliens.

World war Z wasnt that great either but it had at least a lot more different settings which made it enjoyable.

This movie was so over the top, and never took itself seriously, that it was pure entertainment gold.
When your main Jager has a button labelled "Sword", I don't see how you could possibly go wrong

As for worst and most cliche'd dialogue how about "Let's do this..... together!"

This movie was pretty laughable. The action was ok but not as great as people are praising it for. Hopefully it doesnt get a sequel. It flopped pretty hard in the US

Didn't enjoy the film at all for the most part. The lead actor annoyed the living hell out of me. The action was good in parts but thats the best I can say about it.
|
movie fucking sucked, terrible acting, story and dialogue and i was going in with the mind set of "I'M GOING TO SEE MASSIVE FUCKING ROBOTS BEAT THE SHIT OUTTA THINGS" but all i notice was how bad this movie is and there was no where near enough fighting robot scenes to keep me in the 'holy shit giant robots' mindset.
|
Also those 'Australian' accents annoyed the shit out of me and i could tell in about 2 spoken sentences that neither of those actors or accents were australian, fuck this movie
|
Saw this movie for half off, and im not complaining. the CGI effects are so sick, and the action scenes are fantastic as well. So for half off, no complaints

Very good movie, the 3D is well done. I was thrilled and amused from the beginning to the end. 8/10, would watch again.

I don't get why people generally hate the Transformers movies, but love this one. Aren't they kinda the same thing?
|
The main thing for me is that Transformer movies ruined original Transformer. Pacific Rim kinda build on Godzilla movies, but it doesn't pretend to be one. If it's called Godzilla - Pacific Rim, it might get just as much hate.

Transformers has comedy that seems to be aimed at 12-year olds (I'm.... under its scrotum! etc) and a lot of the fights are basically a blurry mess of metal.
Can't comment on PR yet since I'm watching it on friday.
