Except for smart people who know it's dumb but can still enjoy it for what it is anyway because they're not elitist hipsters.

Plasix, why would your conjecture about a deceased person's theoretical opinion of a movie mean anything?
And, yes, not enjoying the process of spending $15 to watch animated robots fight animated sea monsters for 2 hours is TOTALLY something only hipsters and elites would feel. Keep affirming your mediocrity, fellas. You're all precious snowflakes.

Because Ryan Davis was a joy of a person and had great taste in movies, beer, wisky and all things great in life. You clearly are an elitest hipster that this movie was never made for, who has come here to insult other's taste. I don't like rice pudding, but I don't think other people who like it are dumb or pillers of mediocrity. This is why your opinion is invalid.

The funny part is, it's actually hipsters who are famous for liking crappy/childish things in an ironic way. So, I guess you're the hipster, here.

Not enjoying ROBOTS and MONSTERS fight for 2 hours is something pretty much only hipster and elitists would do. Wait... you paid 15 bucks???! LOL

Yes, focus on irrelevant details about the random number I used for a ticket price and incorrect usage of the insults you're trying to wield. This is all working to your favor.

I mean, you came in here to hate on a summer block buster that didn't take itself seriously and had fun with giant robots. What did you expect us to do, praise your for your insight?

I don't like a movie x, it's dumb ergo everybody that watches it is dumb. This aggravates people and makes you feel better about your miserable life, I think the kids nowadays call it "trolling".

Yeah, they spend all day making snarky and insulting posts on video game forums. Clearly, the internet is the last bastion for smart people of the world.

Personally I barely enjoyed the movie. The fighting scenes do look great, but even if you ignore science and reality they have some errors. I wanted to see giant monsters fight giant robots, and I got that, but if you are not looking for that specifically I would say you are better of not watching this movie.

You see the trailer. You know the theme. What else would somebody expect ? Something like the movie Hunger but with robots and monsters ?
I mean, if somebody pays to watch this movie expecting anything else, is his goddamn fault.

No, not enjoying such movies is not limited to elitists, hipsters and so on.
Claiming that people who do are intellectually inferior is.

Well, its no surprise that THIS debate is going on here, hahahaha
Anyway, i saw it last night with my friend and we both liked it a lot. we were hoping one of the robots german-suplexed the haiku. uh one of my favorite parts was when + Show Spoiler +the asian girl was like "FOR MY FAMIRY" and cut the thing in half with the gdlk sword But yeah, i really liked the movie, i thought it was going to be like transformers, but without the story.

Watching giant robots fight is enjoyable on a visceral level, you don't really need to break that down intellectually. It's like calling most sports dumb because it's basically getting a ball in a hole. You could say it's a pretty silly endeavor, but my god can it be exciting.
I do wish the screenplay were a little smarter though. I mean, just because there's giant robots doesn't mean you can dial in the rest of the stuff.

I suppose smart people are also quite smug.
