But those are all minor issues, I'm a hundred times more excited for Godzilla next year than I already was after seeing Pacific Rim.

It could have been better if the Kaijus didn't have shiny blue lights shining from their bodies which made them too sci fi ish. Edit: I didn't catch this during film, but apparantly the shiny blue blood of kaijus is supposed to be really toxic and hazardous that should be contained as much as possible, so is that why punching them to death is 1st option and missiles/sword is the last?

Not idea, but if that is indeed the case, your logic is pretty sound

If you start thinking too much this movie will just make less and less sense. For example, why are there pilots even. Should just be controlled remotely.

I actually really liked the blue lights. In general it make the Kaiju easier to see during the smoky rubble filled battles and also towards the end, the movie starts adding more oranges to the color scheme and the orange/blue color scheme is really cool. It's also yet another nod to portal.

I think there is even a post in the funny pictures thread with a huge number of movie posters using that color scheme.

And I like it as a color scheme. It's way better than the brown/grey I get in all too many video games.

Also a movie about a portal to another world filled with giant monsters that are hell bent on burning cities to the ground, which we then battle with national themed giant robots, should not be dug into in any way. It knows it is dumb and is proud of it.

It wasn't really explained in the film, but that is apparently the case based off of interviews, etc.

It wasn't really explained in the film, but that is apparently the case based off of interviews, etc. they talk about it in the film. The Kaiju blood is toxic and poisons the water similar to an Oil spill. It was only a minute long clip but it was in there. I really liked the blue lights, made them much more aesthetically pleasing, as well as made them more identifiable when they were going through the water/dark. It let you see them faintly when they were sneaking around. I am 100% sure it was done intentionally, because without the blue a lot of the scenes would have been so dark you would have no idea what was going on.

Also now that I'm thinking about it the whole wall to block monsters idea was the worst one ever. What did they think the monsters were going to do? Just come up to the wall and decide not to repeatedly smash into it until it collapsed? I realize that they needed some kind of excuse to show us that funds were being diverted away from the jaeger project to give us the feeling that the handful of jaegers left at the end were humanity's last hope but it's pretty sad that that's the best they could do? Especially after the first kaiju broke right through the wall in a predictable fashion it's tough to believe that anyone would still think that it would work.

Also now that I'm thinking about it the whole wall to block monsters idea was the worst one ever. What did they think the monsters were going to do? Especially after the first kaiju broke right through the wall in a predictable fashion it's tough to believe that anyone would still think that it would work. It was a terrible plan, no one is going to disagree. Did you ever hear how France made a huge wall on the border of Germany and put a bunch of guns on it? It was about as dumb. If you are looking for logic in this movie, you may wish to move on. They built giant robots with elbow rockets and a sword to combat giant monsters that came out of the ocean. Logic does not apply.
