From a purely selfish point of view, it would probably be the right thing to do for a more "rewarding life", but he wouldn't even be where he is if it weren't for Harvey. Now it depends on how Harvey reacts to it (he's obviously gonna tell him go for it, but we know how he will feel if Mike does take it). The guy's got a fucking photographic memory and the best he can do is work at a law firm? Jesus fucking Christ. Do you want to expand on this? With his brain what should he be doing? Also, you make it sound like working at a top-tier law firm is somehow an embarrassment in level of prestige... not sure if I agree there. the problem is working at a top-tier law firm at his level is absolutely terrible. he'd be getting paid crap all while working 100 hour weeks, rachel would be getting paid even less, though she has daddy money of course. It was made very clear in the episode that Mike is making some bank from bonuses... not just the typical associate pay.... and associate pay isn't chopped liver either. If not for the bonuses though, yea he's probably getting underpaid for his abilities... but his baggage can't be neglected either.
You mean Rachel? :D

Well I didn't, but she can't. As you probably know I was referring to his history which makes it much harder for him to get an awesome job, in general.

Living up to your namesake? Mike's been pretty useful so far. Why stick it to him? After all, Jessica and Harvey are screwed too if Mike's secret is discovered.

If you had a photographic memory, and this was common knowledge (not hard to get on TV and prove it), you would not be working in a law firm. Employers around the world would be offering millions for that kind of mind. Suits is bullshit and full of bullshit relationship drama.

FTFY.
Next up, Takuma will be explaining to us how Suits is garbage because not every lawyer and assistant is drop dead gorgeous.
I can't wait to hear your criticisms on how incredible the plot of The Avengers is.

Also, making "millions" by itself may not be that different from what he's making in his current job if he keeps making the firm money and getting bonuses.

Oddly enough the reason your solution is a bad one was addressed in this very episode by Mike "If you don't love what you do it costs him a fortune and he knows it". That reasoning was the one Mike proposed Cidwell use on Gianopolis to get him to let him run his own company and it holds just as true in this instance since Mike is making the firm a fortune so keeping him happy is just as high a priority as it is any other star employee.

Except he's painted in a corner, albeit a fancy corner. Cidwell is in his position through legitimate means. Mike isn't.

Mike's mind is an exaggeration used as a plot element in a drama series, I don't see how hard it is to get ;D The absurd intelligence he has (and generally the intelligence of like, every fucking character in the series, especially Harvey's) is there to quicken the pace at which they solve cases (because they pull out random precedents out of their huge-ass memory) and provide the cool "wow" effect we love. Characters are smart, good-looking, they have unbelievably good repartee, and much more, and that's because we're not watching (at least I personally am not) to learn about some random average Joe boring corporate lawyer.
And besides, Mike wants to be a lawyer. Even if he's a genius and should serve the Greater Good by researching cancer, world peace and time travel or I don't know what else, if he wants to be a lawyer, that's fine too. Leave him be ;D

It doesn't matter that he has no legitimate outs you still need him to love it because if he doesn't it costs you a fortune since he is so good at what he does.

Except Louis. He's basically as smart as everyone else but he looks funny so he's the butt of every joke. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't rehash it every single episode though.

It's not just because he looks funny (and I don't even know if I agree that he does). He's a very weird fellow with a history of being a dick to people, and he's only started to redeem himself very recently.

There's been like 3 Louis redemption arcs already all of them ending with "all I wanted was Harvey's respect and friendship". It makes the character kind of pathetic.

It's because he has one of the most colorful personalities out of all the characters, with his niche hobbies and obsessions, and the constant inner battle he fights between being opportunistic and being respected/ liked.
It's not because "he looks funny".

There's definitely a link between the least traditionally good-looking character having the least traditionally cool personality.

This ending was terrible. I love suits, but you basically disqualified the entire rest of the episode with "owait, I changed my mind." I was really hoping that the writers would have Mike leave temporarily (1 or 2 episodes), show him struggling and then have him come back. Why bother introducing the problem if you're just going to solve it in the last 60 seconds?
