Thanks for finding that bug... I changed hosts, which has a different PHP environment that is more strict and has caused a few things to break. Afterall, I wrote that site several years ago. Needless to say, I just need to find the time to fix it =). As for the scrolling around, there is a "download" button which gives you the ability to see the full image... but it is probably about that time I update the functionality a bit. =D

Originally I was hopeful when I heard Eastman was involved in the writing, but I actually believe this was a poor decision. He is too entrenched in the TMNT's past to come up with something truly fresh. We need a new writer and a fresh perspective on the story. That is why we worked so hard to develop Dawn of the Ninja. Unfortunately we are nobodies and nobody cares about nobodies in the movie industry.

I'd still watch the old cartoons over these new movies, special effect =/= better. The script was mind blowingly bad, the only thing the movies did better was have a hot chick in slow motion -.- The DBZ movies(Like the actual anime ones) I actually enjoyed, sure they didn't follow the plot or anything of actual dbz but the characters where the same and they were enjoyable to watch. Dragonball evolution was a steamy pile of Oozaru shit dumped all over the entire dragonball universe and my childhood. The point also isn't 100% about being better or worse then the original either. It's more about at least sticking to what people remember and not changing the characters people grew up loving... If you're gonna make a bad version of a classic show into a movie, at least have the decency to not completely rewrite the show and its characters.... obviously some changes would have to be made, but that doesn't mean turn Goku into a whiny little douche(I'm going to stop at this complaint because I could rant for a good page or two of shit they did to dbz...). Or switch around which Ninja turtle is the jokster/serious one or cut out major characters etc.

He's really not. Don't get me wrong; I'm not defending Michael Bay or this POS movie he's making. But there is a level on which Bay's films can be enjoyed. Granted, it often requires giving yourself a lobotomy with a shotgun, but that level still exists. The only way to enjoy an Uwe Boll film is by mocking it. By deriving pleasure from seeing just how terrible it's pacing, editing, directing, acting, etc are. Bay achieves a level of basic filmmaking competence that Boll only wishes he could. Again; that doesn't mean that Bay's films aren't still shit. But they are more competently assembled than anything Boll has ever done. In one breath, you defend crappy lines as "might as well have come from the cartoon series," but in your other breath, you attack the original cartoons as being "pure camp and garbage plot." I'll be the first to admit that Transformers Generation 1 was not the best written TV show of its era. It was an action series with a good, compelling gimmick, that was written just well enough to keep 8-12 year old boys entertained. Most of the good feelings come from nostalgia; from a modern perspective, the writing was weak and the characterization broad and generic. And I say this as someone who likes G1 enough to buy the DVD set. HOWEVER, that does not excuse crappy adaptations today. However "campier" G1 may have been compared to BayFormers, it never made me want to punch the writers in the face the way BayFormers did. And not because it shat on my childhood, but because they were, more often than not, shitty movies that pander to the lowest-common-demoninator. Beast Wars and Transformers Prime (possibly Animated if I'd ever watched it) prove that you can take the basic concept of Transformers and make it work without creating something that is campy or just Godawful. And again, it's not about taking liberties with the property; both of those shows are marked departures from G1. It's about being respectful of what made the property work in the first place. You cannot have TMNT without Splinter. Not because he was a beloved character from the 90's cartoon. But because he was important to what TMNT is ultimately about.

O_o To the other guy up top, there are a lot of producers and directors I know who defend the guy to the extreme. Their argument is the fact Michael Bay knows how to sell a product and he's a very detail orientated guy. Plus, it helps knowing how to shoot an action sequence if you ignore the stupid dialogue. Never worked with him ever in my life so I cannot comment. The only Michael Bay film I liked was The Rock and part of that had to do with the casting for that project as well, so meh. I just re-watched the other movies recently and there was no shortage of cheesey one-liners either. Underlining words to add more stress is incredibly bad form for screenwriters. In fact, it's elementary.

I can watch some of Bays earlier stuff, before he started money-shotting my childhood, but I can never, ever sit through anything Boll related again. Honestly, this concept could work...just not with him. Not ever with him. And I'm pretty sure for the script they just got a bunch of people to shit on paper and then let a few little kids play in it, from there they made it slightly TMNT related. But for real...fuck this. You cannot have TMNT without Splinter. Not because he was a beloved character from the 90's cartoon. But because he was important to what TMNT is ultimately about. What made all of these properties "work in the first place" is that it was a unique, random concept that kids growing up in the 90's would think was cool. TMNT is about turtles that are ninjas. Transformers is about cars that turn into robots. I loved Transformers, TMNT and Dragon Ball Z when I was younger too, and I still enjoy the franchises. But I'm not deluded about the "roots" of the property...or even pretending that there's something to "respect". I watched Beast Wars too, and it's easily my favourite Transformers series. But, beyond a shadow of a doubt, it is campy. Even the third season, which was by far the most serious, had some absolutely ridiculous gags. Transformers Prime, from what I have seen of it, is definitely more serious. But that's because it's an aged up series designed to be marketed at the people who loved the series a decade ago, instead of the normal focus of revitalizing a toy line. I'm not saying that the franchises can't be enjoyed. I'm saying that you can't possibly critique the new adaptations using a standard that never existed in the first place. Twenty years ago, you were the lowest common denominator...and the new adaptations are as much about drawing in the young people to sell toys as they are about appeasing fans who have grown up.
