Yeah it might be a bit rushed again. At least Korra's back. And the resolution is that she just needs to see her friends again. The episode was pretty standard.
They didn't change it to 20 episodes right? I feel like I heard a long time ago that this season would be longer.
For some reason I get the feeling Bolin and Korra will get together at the end. Bolin's having relationship issues. I'd prefer it if she remained independent. The series is short enough. We don't need to bother with forced romance.
Milo never dropped his father's lesson on commanding respect with the lemurs. He's so impressionable. Iggi's jealous. It sounds reasonable.
Might get the new Korra game. It seems like fun if it's anything similar to magicka. It seems single player though.
i dont think theyre done with korra yet. she accepted that her friends and the world need her and wants to be the avatar again and removing the poison unlocked the avatar state, but that doesnt mean she is over her fears already. there are still many episodes to come and i think theyll pick up on it again since the trailer still has some scenes which hint towards more of her development.
The game is quite nice actually. Totalbiscuit did a review on it here I gotta say, its pretty repetitive and has a, what i would call, disconnect between gameplay and lore, the first hour youre running around in republic city, smashing every single vase and satomobile to get "money", which makes absolutely no sense in the avatar universe. The graphicstyle and animations are beautiful though and the combat is rewarding and feels awesome. TB mentions some problems with the camera but i had no problem with that. For me it was definitely worth the 15€.
TB's review rips the game apart
He does and some of his points are valid, while others are not. As i already said, one of his major points is that he had problem with the camera, but i played it through and its not as bad as he says.. Then he mentions that you start off without bending, which is bad for a game about bending...well doom is a game about shooting, that doesnt mean you start with the plasmalauncher immediately. Let's be real here, there had to be a way to strip her off her powers and still be believable. If you start off with avatar state, woudlnt you get bored after the first hour because theres nothing new? And his last major gripe are the boss fights, where he is unable to counter, but guess what, thats just him being bad at the game.

I agree there were a lot of hilarious things in this episode. "*sigh* do you remember when he was little, nice and cute?" "no." :D Also that scene when Ikki was hold by those earth benders. That episode really hit my humor.
On Toph+Korra, I'm glad they went this way. Toph is badass as ever but also very wise and she really helped Korra in way - not only on short terms I think. I hope this is not the last we saw of her.

I was kind of hoping that, the entire time Toph was talking about how Korra needed to face her fears and stuff, that Korra would shoot back with "Well, why are you hiding out in some shitty swamp you old hag?!"
The setup was totally there, and Toph running away from Republic city has kind of never really been addressed properly despite being an obviously pretty big deal. I hope we dive into that more later but there's only so many episodes left

I think Toph said that "people change, but the streets stay the same" so she probably got tired of locking up people and feeling like she didn't accomplish anything.
There has been a LOT of setting the scene, but almost no actual interesting conflict / conflict resolution so far this season. The Kuvira problem is escalating, and is obviously going to come to a head at socialist metalbending haven, but the airbending kids "finding korra" was mostly just space to develop ikki into an actual character (which I respect) as they didn't actually accomplish anything anyways.
Iunno. It's been four episodes, and I don't feel like anything has -actually happened- yet. If the Korra poison situation had been resolved with more tension or animosity (I'm imagining Toph beating the fuck out of korra, possibly set up to feint at her being hostile, to back Korra into a sort of fight-for-your-life scenario in which she HAS to get over her fears to survive. Add interesting interactions with the airbending kids showing up mid-fight and trying to stop Toph, and have Toph communicate with Jinora some spirit-way to tell them what she's trying to do.)...or if anything in the season so far was storyline interesting, I'd be more satisfied.
The little quips with the airbending kids were cute, though. I wonder if Meelo is going to get any actual character develpment, or just end up as comic-relief fuckup like Bumi. I'd love to see him get character progression that leads him towards ending up something closer to Iroh.

You're right, but I'm guessing that that's just because this season's main conflict is going to be very straightforward without the twists of the usual Korra seasons. Kuvira is the main villain, and she was established to be so right from the get-go; Zaheer, Unalaq, and Amon didn't appear so quickly. I think there's one more episode worth of character development left in this story, then the main conflict.
What? Amon appeared at the end of the very first episode, and it was obvious hes gonna be the villian. Unalaq, if not right from the beginning, was obvious in ep2 when you saw his fleet arriving to "help rebuild". Zaheer also said "this is the end of the white lotus and soon, the end of the avatar" in the first episode of the season.

Well they did accomplish finding Korra and they are flying her to Zaufou (I am assuming!).

Hmm, actually that's true. I suppose the more correct thing to say is that the side-story of this arc isn't really an active conflict, but rather each of the main characters finding their place in the world. So there's more setup than action.
I'd be nice if Kuvira doesn't turn out to be the big bad villain. Instead of the world showing up to stop her, it would be interesting if they instead joined her. Attacking Zaofu is pretty much makes her a villain no matter what =\ If she maintained her role as provider of order without instigating violence then the other world leaders might have to allow her to maintain her rule.

They already said that Kuvira is going to be the big bad of this season. But her motives seem to be the most human out of the four, so it'll be interesting if they take a different turn on this one.
The sneak peek for the next episode looks like another passive episode - diplomacy with Zaofu and such. But I think that will be the last of the setup episodes.

I thought she said something about being completely connected to the world from the swamp when Korra asked.

Maybe. It's a 4 parter finale and Korra didn't see Zaheer until episode 8. I feel like some conflict will be created in the finale and then resolved.

I got that idea from reading the description for season 4.
Just catched up to the last ep and its pretty good, atleast not 100% shit like the first season lol
does anybody else think julie is "betraying" varrick to save him (and possibly bolin) later? was kinda sad that the kuvira-korra talk was like 5 lines where korra's entire pov changes from "kuvira back down" into "suyin hand over the city". should've been a longer conversation imo. Good buildup into the next episode tho and the mechafight was awesome. good to see that bolin used lavabending in the end as well, still has it which might be vital.

Yeah I think it's possible. On the one hand it is possible that she finally reached her limit, and on the other hand who knows how much she had to endure from Varrick in the past and how it compares to the current stuff. Acknowledging Kuvira as the greatest mind she's ever met is rather disingenuous, but she did look rather miffed when Varrick was captured.
Well I guess it has something to do with Suyin trying to use Korra as an attack dog from the get-go. And she probably sees the Earth Kingdom descending into chaos due to the Red Lotus as part of her responsibilities that she neglected/wasn't strong enough to deal with at the time. Without an authority figure like Kuvira to step in and bring order, who knows how bad things would've gotten. I mean the only thing that could've further sealed the deal would be Korra seeing 'King' Wu in person. The previous King had a better head on his shoulder and he was played so hard you'd think Long Feng was Korean. Wu would've easily given more opportunities for other 'Long Fengs' to make their move.
I liked Asami's side-story. While it's not plot-relevant(as far as we know at least), it's nice to put some spotlight on that kind of thing.

i think that much is obvious. she's probably the real genius behind most of varrick's inventions anyway.

HA! Called it.
On that note, I'm not so sure about Zhu Li. I do think Varrick is the real genius, she's just what she is, the very faithful assistant.
I liked the episode. It looks like things are going to seriously pick up from there. I look forward to it.
