All it takes to start a revolution is killing their leader and saying "you're all free now :^)" Man the world of the Avatar series is a tiny, tiny place. im not sure if the other nations are kingdoms, because i'd rate the earthkingdom after the fire and even waternation in terms of strenght - it might be the biggest, its also the worst controlled (imo) Keep in mind that all of the free cities used to be just a small part of the earth kingdom. Ba sinsei is big enough to fit a good chunk of the fire islans into. The earth queen controls the largest empire in the world. The water nation is pretty much two small settlements in an icy wasteland and the air nomads are like 3 hotel-sized buildings. The only nation that could really hold a candle to the earth kingdom is the fire nation. But that was really only because of their technology. Now the whole world has air ships and iron clads and the fire nation is on equal footing. This makes the earth queen the most powerful person in the world. And now she's dead. Killed by 4 vagabonds. I think the fire nation is still the most powerful one. If you remember when Korra first went to Ba Sing Se, the earth queen mentioned how Zuko and Aang took territory from the Earth Kingdom and that she would not let the avatar take the small amount of territory she still had left. This and the seemingly autonomous Metal Clan suggest that the earth kingdom was already pretty weak. Since it seems that Zuko had a lot of influence over the world when he was fire lord, I think the fire nation is still strongest. Zuko and Earth King Kuei were about to go to war over the fire nation colonies.
Aang basically went into the Avatar form to stop them.

The armies they brought were relatively small too. If it was a show to see whether the fire nation or earth kingdom had more power, then Aang won. It's in the promise book.

Why do I even click on the spoilers?
|
+ Show Spoiler + Tenzin is probably dead. Out of a sudden the show is too serious compared to previous seasons
|
by the way, there's no need for spoiler tags...
i don't think tenzin is going to die. they need him for leverage.
|
They got most of the airbenders secured so they dont really need him.
They way how they executed that scene seemed like a major death flag to me, then again everything is possible.

Just curious, why no need for spoiler tags? Gonna use them for now because I don't really know thread policy. + Show Spoiler +Tenzin's "as long as I'm breathing" struck me as foreshadowing for more breathbending. I like how the ep portrays Tenzin as heroic, at least compared to his less flattering treatment in the rest of the show. As malcram mentioned, if he dies, the Red Lotus is out of leverage, unless they hunt down the others, which is definitely possible. As for the rest of the episode...
Really enjoyed the art involved in showing Ba Sing Se in flames.
Zuko's counsel didn't strike me particularly sagely or inspiring, but I guess Korra just needed someone to talk to and some perspective.

"Let's go buddy, yip yip!"

+ Show Spoiler +Kinda disappointed that they decided to write Zuko out of the fight like that. I understand the need to develop the new characters rather than the old ones, but he was only around for one one-sided battle and that's it. Hopefully they'll give him time in season 4?
Also, the airbenders are disappointingly weak and/or unmotivated in this fight. I know they can do better than just run away without fighting or at least some use of their agility (i.e. running from combustion-bending in a pattern).

Spoil stuff about Suits in other topics (for example when you want to compare plot points of an episode of Suits to an episode of another series), but not in this one.

+ Show Spoiler +Tenzin. What a total badass. First guy to get the better of Zaheer, right?
I don't think Tenzin is going to die. They do need him for leverage. Plus, while his last line was dramatic, I don't think it's foreshadowing. If Zaheer was going to kill him with breathbending, then he would do it on the spot. They were just beating him to a pulp.
Truly amazing episode. It just keeps getting better. For me, this was TLA level. Seriously, how is it going to end?

It's the first and only real way to show him fight another decent airbender. I think Zaheer would respect Tenzin and they can have a discussion about Guru Lahima while Tenzin's tied to a chair or something.

+ Show Spoiler +Seems like that's an honor reserved for very few people. Tenzin's fight was pretty impressive. It would have been silly if tenzin, who dedicated his entire life to mastering airbending, would've lost to zaheer 1v1. He's the only person so far they had to gang up on to beat.

+ Show Spoiler + To be honest the airbenders aren't fighters. Don't forget they are just being trained on being airbenders, they are very far from being masters of an element they just got very recently. They wouldn't stand a chance against the red lotus.
The only ones who might be helpful would be tenzins kids, even then I don't think they would be able to help very much.
Also I loved that line when zaheer tells tenzin he doesn't have a choice and he responds with "yes I do."
I want next weeks episodes !

The last two episodes for this book will both air next week and I could see the format for them being similar to book 1. The Skeletons in the Closet episode we had with Tarrlok explaining the origins of the villain to the audience with the last episode being for the showdown of course. We still don't know the Red Lotus' plans for Korra and we could get a more detailed origin explanation for them.

I am going to enjoy watching Korra wreck shop on all four of them. I have not seen enough Avatar form this season. Glad they are going the darker tone and putting the episodes up online. They load up on my kindle fire every friday morning, its pretty great.

i seriously wouldnt mind to keep these 4 as the antagonists next season, they're rather likable for the bad guys, considering S1/2
