I can't believe they actually did that and nick let them lol.
+ Show Spoiler +I think that it does have the same kind of strength as bloodbending.
Zaheer seemed to be actually bending the air out of the queen's lungs, so I don't think dodging is possible. You could bend back to distract him, but airbenders are much more agile than waterbenders as a general rule. It seems that one major difference between Zaheer and the other airbenders is that he can actually control ambient air, rather than merely creating a gust of wind as Aang mostly did.
I really like this set of villains - it's a shame that LoK seems to shuffle main villains each time they release a new season.

+ Show Spoiler +It takes concentration. It's not like he can do it while dodging your counter attack. A normal person though is pretty screwed though.

+ Show Spoiler +Damn the queen got her ass kicked. At first I thought the new airbending power was gonna be something crazy like soul-bending or something but what zaheer did was still pretty brutal.

But good god, Zahir's voice. Does anyone else think he has a terrible, terrible voice actor? I can't stand listening to him speak.
I don't think it is bad it just doesn't suit the character much. I am not a fan.
+ Show Spoiler +Is the air sucking out of lungs thing really the 'different bending' air benders get? Fire has lightening, water has blood and earth has metal. Very different things from their origin. Meanwhile, air bending gets well... air bending. The air just somewhere else.

Where we left off our MAIN MAN MAKO was fighting off water benders at what seemed the end of the world!~

+ Show Spoiler +Definitely deserved it, she was the most hated character IMO since Ozai/Sozin. I predicted something along the lines of a Russian-er I mean French Revolution but goddamn. Isn't this a Y7-rated TV show? Even Adventure Time and Regular Show are PG-rated because of subliminal adult humor but LoK can get away with a Y7 rating for murder and suicide?
I'm really liking these villains so far and I hope they'll make it through Book 4

+ Show Spoiler +Wow, that actually was pretty dark.
It also seems like Zaheer's motives are genuine. He didn't want to hurt the civilian, and plunged Ba Sing Se into chaos as he said he would.
I don't think the airbending trick he did is an advanced form though. It's just a special move that almost no airbender would use, since they preserve life. Perhaps airbending doesn't need a special form, seeing as nobody can live without air... if they wish, they can get real dirty without needing flashy bending.
I can't wait for the next episode. I also have NO idea how it's going to end, which is good. Never had that in LoK before.
|
+ Show Spoiler +I am enjoying it, but it is running into “big showdown” syndrome. They have built the villains up to be so awesome, but we are just waiting for them to show down with the avatar and every episode is a build up to that. It is enjoyable, I just wish there were more encounters with the avatar and less “just wait till she catches up with you”. The first series at least had several big fights between main characters that were enjoyable.

Probably gonna be even more illegal than Bloodbending.
Shout outs to Imperius curses and Avada Kedavra, btw

finally caught up after holidays... really enjoying this season so far! someone else also said it, mako&bolin might be kids from the evil team. it felt too coincidential to me that its mentioned "mako has his mothers eyes" and then she turns up like 3mins later with the same coloured eyes. i hope su and lin dont get an easy reunion like "free korra". i wanna see more from zuko & get more background on what happened with the original team avatar in the years between AtlA and LoK. + Show Spoiler +With the earth queen dead, it might be we're gonna turn to the leaders of the other nations - we might get zuko's daughter, one of the water tribes involved with possibly katara+zuko then. i'd love it if old toph suddenly appeared but dont know if that's likely. also, i thought it was a kidshow? damn they're pretty obvious at killing people this time around, im liking it but most like not everyone is with me there.

Or bend air with rigidity and precision (which are unfortunately antithetical to how air as an element operates in the Avatar world) to create telekinesis.

Do we know if Sokka had children or even ended up married with... dang whats her name again, the girl from the island just a shame that we wont get to see Aang anymore to tell us, unless korra somehow manages to regain the connection to them.

you can create "balls" of air with bending right? seems doable to lift stuff that way, at least small objects. nice idea anyway

Yeah I thought of airbending air out of lungs a loooong time ago after the original bloodbending episode in TLA. I also wondered why water benders can't just rip all the water out of someone.... probably too OP

I think it was actually quite a good idea when they decided to basically eliminate the Deus ex Machina that the Avatar State was. Aang was clearly outmatched in the final battle and only won because of it. getting rid of that makes strong enemies actually dangerous because there's no magical out that will make them beatable.

If the firelord could not redirect lightning, which we can safely assume he could not because he didnt use it against zuko, aang had him by his balls but decided to throw the lightning into the sky instead, from there on he was weakened by it. The whole fight was just aang trying to overpower him without killing him, but after the lightning it was over until the avatar state regenerated him. I agree with the general idea though, if there's always the avatar state as a secret powerup when they start to get angry it takes away the tension.
