But seriously I agree that it can't have been the north tribe who did the bombing. I also think that the twins were aware that the spirit was coming to abduct Korra. They were on a mission to bring her back, and they seem to take things seriously. So why when they saw a light did they back off so quickly? If they had nothing to do with it, why didn't they check around at least a little before heading back home without Korra? This leads me to believe that the spirit was part of Unalaq's plan. Or they can't fight the dark spirits. No point of staying in the fight when you are literally and figuratively the smaller fish.

I can't even make sense of what's happening right now.
The focus on the relationship drama between Korra and Mako is making me cringe.

I'm pretty sure the whole point of having Korra, a female, as a strong protagonist was to break away from the norm of having a male lead, not promote and continue with more sexist views about women. And besides that, it's boring as fuck to watch.

Everything strength, skill, and being a warrior comes natural to her. They're giving her issues in relationship and being courteous. How is her having relationship issues a sexist thing? Lots of guys have issues in relationship too, in fact men are portrayed as being completely ineffective at the subtle issues of relationships just like she is being portrayed.
She is a head strong act first think later person. If you thought of her as a person instead of a woman then I'm sure you can see that she isn't a common woman trope full of sexist issues. She doesn't run away from getting dirty, have huge tits, make ditzy remarks, or completely freak out when her emotions get hurt. This can be easily seen during the break up, she got mad because she was betrayed by her boyfriend before he broke up with her. When they broke up she just walked away.

Mako used to be my most hated character in this series. Now I have so much respect for the guy.
Anyone else hyped that we might be seeing Zuko soon?

Yes some of the extra material explains that he is alive and succeeded by his daughter who is fire lord. He currently goes around as a peace keeper so he might appear in the South.

Yeah Mako is pretty boss. Cool headed, strong sense of morality.

If Zuko returns and they mess it up, I'm going to be so angry... I mean, you already have Iroh junior with Zuko's voice, that's good enough for me.
Also is the relationship stuff really that cringeworthy? I mean it isn't especially good, but for me it helps establish Mako's character plus you got Toph's daughter in there too.

IIRC, Zuko is Iroh Jr's grandfather, so he's alive. I forget where, but it was stated in lore that Zuko is now an ambassador for the Fire Nation and that his daughter is the Fire Lord.

The avatar had to be female this time around. The Avatar alternates sexes. Except when the cycle is over.
The Cycle is Air, Water, Earth, Fire.
Look at the Avatars we know of. Air (Yang Chen) F, Water ( Kuruk) M, Earth ( Kyoshi) F, Fire (Roku) M, [Cycle Over] Air (Aang) M, Water (Korra) F, Earth M, Fire F.
This ensures not only even genders of the Avatar, but also that each type of bending has alternating genders.
Korra is female because she had to be.
That said something is off this season, the dialog feels unnatural, same with the voice acting. Even some of the little things in the animation feel rushed. The ending of the last episode did intrigue me though, if i remember correctly I think Zuko may still be alive. That and i liked the spirit monster was interesting.
Btw, Did it seem like Zuko reincarnated wants to get in Korras pants. It did to me.

This week in Korra's actions to preserve the peace: 1. Try and get the UN to declare war on the North Water Tribe 2. Supplying a bunch of Rebels in the south with tanks 3. Instigating the south to take up arms by visibly siding with them in a political demonstration

Just when I thought this second season was getting boring, they pull the giant water spirit out of nowhere.
Thing is, it's getting boring because they're not delving into the mystery and intrigue of the avatar, and these new spirits we've never seen before are just nameless monsters.
I much preferred the way the spirits were in Aang's storyline. They all had names, personalities, and provided ancient wisdom. They were also forces to be reckoned with, extremely powerful yet tameable by the ingenuity of the avatar and the abilities the avatar had within.
In Korra, the spirits are downright boring and I hope that water one drags her to someplace more interesting.

Last season was like: new city life + new friends + training stuff + equalist uprising. Clean and clear, yet action packed (wuth the usual twists and close calls necessary).
This is like... !!! Well, you all know by now.

The cliffhanger was interesting, but overall I am not too satisfied with the last couple of episodes.
The one thing that strikes me the hardest is the fact that all dialogues are starting to sound seriously stale. I do not know if it is the lines themselves or the delivery, but it just sounds so flat. This episode is filled with arguing and fighting, and I don't feel it at all. It feels like they're reading, I'm not getting any emotion from them.
Also, regarding the story... Asami, who resented her father for providing the Equalists with weapons to wage war, is now totally thrilled about supplying tanks to the Southern Water Tribe to go to war...? I was so disappointed. Her character was really interesting, full of jealousy and spite toward Korra, and she was also really righteous. It just doesn't feel good when she's going on to sell war equipment to salvage her company.
Verrick is obviously growing into a more important character, and it seems he's going to become even more important. I'm curious to see where that goes. And jeez was I happy when Mako dumped Korra (in a very overly dramatic seen might I add). Those awful scenes are over with (hopefully).
I am both excited and worried that we might get to see Zuko. It'll definitely be interesting to see what his daughter is like though. But it might be kind of weird when the voice actor for Zuko is already playing his grandson. Although I suppose they'll make him sound older and possibly use another voice actor, but Zuko without the fire in his voice isn't the same.
Anyway... It seems the whole spirit thing is going to really get a kick start in the next episode. I actually think the story will improve from here on out. We should get to see a lot more of the spirits and we might learn a lot. With Mako and Korra split up, he'll get his own storyline and it'll be a lot more interesting. So while I was disappointed by the last two episodes and I think the writers and voice actors may be messing it up a bit, I still have a feeling it's about to get better.
