For example, there aren't any major bending battles at all, and even if they're there they end in seconds. Besides that those mini-bizons were freaking amazing. OMG they fell over!

Yeah, this is also my biggest issue with the show so far. It's fun to watch but I just don't feel it's anywhere near TLA level right now.

I miss the days where Aang would roam the forbidden library for several episodes without it having much to do with the fire nation at all. When watching ATLA I got to learn about the world outside the fire nation war. LoK just feels rushed. At least the humor got better! Saaka jokes are the best.

Other animes are just really slow eg. Attack on Titan where they focus on a Female Titan for 8 episodes. I mean, Korra's not adventuring around the world trying to get to the North Pole. It's not the same pace because it's not the same archetype show, and is definitely more happens than in Aang's series but that's not necessarily bad. Would it be better if they waited another episode to save Korra's dad and left you on a cliffhanger? Or if they made the outbreak of civil war finally happen in chapter 8, with Korra finally saving them in chapter 10? Kaya and Bumi's acting was better.

I think there are opportunities where they could draw it out and get a lot more out of the show. For example when Korra was at the Southern spirit portal, they could have gone into a full episode on her fighting spirits and building the confidence she needed to finally being able to open the portal. Don't get me wrong, I hate filler, but there are some things that are just unnecessarily short. I want to see an emotional journey, or some kind of struggle involved. For a good portion of the episodes, some of the minor conflicts seem to be resolved by the end of the episode, or at least the one after. I appreciate the struggles that Aang went through to try to get Appa back. It was so much more meaningful when he finally found Appa. Or even when Zuko finally fought Azula. I know the show is going in a different direction, but I would like if they went away from short bursts of action and more towards progressive story telling. It is a kids show after all I suppose, children want to go back to a happy medium towards the end of every show. But I can always hope for more.

There's definitely a happy medium that shows should strive for. Maybe the problem is that they want to finish the conflict in one book. In TLA, Aang took 3 books to finally end the war. Korra took one to squash the equalist movement.

He's demolished entire Earth Kingdom cities like when that mad Earth King tried to induce the Avatar state. And when fully provoked by Ozai, when he actually stayed in the avatar form for more than a few seconds he showed that he was stronger than any army. Kyoshi split a landmass off from the mainland and turned it into an island. Korra's avatar state usage was underwhelming. She should be able to demolish all of the Northern water tribe ships and force a surrender in seconds. Good predictions above from the people who said Unalaq framed his brother to become Chief. I think the reason she's underwhelming, is because she has yet to fully learn how to use it. Tenzin has told her she needs to REALLY learn what the Avatar state is. I feel as though she sees it as an easy button, when it's actually the essence of who she truly is, the Avatar.

I want her to become a fully fledged anti hero. It's too bad this is a kids cartoon because stuff like this won't happen. ![]()

I agree, they could have taken the episode and made 2 or 3 out of it to flesh out what was happening and give a few characters a bit more personality (like Korra's mom and Unalaq himself), but I guess they wanna reach somewhere with the story and fast. On a side note I'm kind of hoping for more of Tenzin's family. Frankly, they're more interesting than Korra and co.

Equalist movement was way smaller scale than the Fire Nation war, and Korra's already had way more training and practice mastering the elements than Aang did at the start. It shouldn't have taken as long.
