Its probably fair to assume that after the whole non-bender curfew, that a good deal of Republic City's citizens would be onboard with Amon's plan, so when the revolution happens he'll probably have a nice boost in forces.

I'm hoping that the battle is constantly going on around the main action of the story. The whole "battlefield is ruined and everybody stand around to watch the few people that are left" thing wore thin when I stopped playing with my army men. =[
Poor tan guys, they were always so outnumbered. They made up for it by having a tank and flamethrowers!

idk
bombing half the city doesn't really make the inhabitants like you

same way in real wars people aim to bomb sites of military importance and come out with a miraculous 0% civilian casualty rate. anyway, that bombing looked pretty indiscriminate to me.

The bombings might just be done to establish chaos. Could also just be for cinematic effect. :-P

The last 5 minutes of the episode with the escape and Lin's capture was probably the most poignant sequence of the series so far. There will probably be some revelation about a method of restoring bending, but it will probably be extremely risky or require some form of sacrifice.

I have the feeling Korra will have to go on some spiritual journey to discover it. Perhaps the idea from TLA where Aang had to overcome Ozai's will will appear though. That might add some aspect of danger to it.

What do you mean by never ending? Just wondering because you include FMA in your list. He said "or well done" So does anyone think they'll make it believable/realistic that the equalists are powerful/numerous enough to take down the united army...? (or at least the part that was sent to defend them) since they're good writers i'm hoping it will be, but i can't really see it happening maybe they'll need to retreat and be "patient" for some reason?
To be honest what they showed from the United Army was hardly impressive. Like 8 medium sized ships and not a single aircraft?
Also in the preview we can see several small aircraft bombing one of the ships. It fits the theme of the conflict, the classical bending power against the new technological power of the equialists. The fleet could come in all high and mighty just to get ambushed by Amon's technologically superior army,
Also, Republic City is presented as a very important place maybe even the economic and industrial heart of the world, while it's likely that much of the avatar world still remains as an agrarian society. So if Amon can repell the initial bender forces he may be able to form a strong army enough to take on the other nations on season 2.

I don't think we saw the whole United Army armada.. and even if it was just 8 ships that's still a lot of manpower.

It did seem plausible that the children would win (due to the element of surprise, them being very good airbenders, and the most important fact of them being children, which would be sure to mess with anyone's motivation to fight) but I disliked the fight in general due to the stupid one-liners and my general hate of Meelo.
How do you hate Meelo? He is easily one of the best characters in the show and in my opinion one of the best examples of a character used almost solely for comic relief. Every show needs one of those. Bolin is a terrible example of this though. :/

In The Last Airbender, when Aang is learning about chakras, Guru Pathik describes each chakra and what can block it. The chakra on the back of the neck (where Amon presses when spirit bending) is said to be blocked by illusion.
Calling it now, Amon is not actually spirit bending, its just advanced chi-blocking, and is reversible. People only lose their bending until they see through the illusion.

Haha, people have been calling it since episode 3 when Amon took away Lightning Bolt Zolt's bending.

Actually, the chakra in your throat is the Sound Chakra (Vishuddah) which is blocked by lies and freed by truth. The third eye chakra is the Light Chakra (Ajna) which is the one blocked my illusion and freed by Insight. While they are similar, deal with two different concepts.

Genjutsu! Amon is actually a shinobi from naruto storyline. He's pissed cuz he got lost in the pages.

Why? It is most likely Zuko's grandson, since his son would of been the same age as tenzin/bumi/kya. If they had children around the same time that is ( or had gross old people sex!)

But still, this guy looks like he's in his mid 20's. Zuko was a teenager. His voice should be scruffed up a bit...

It's not like zuko was going through puberty during the show, your voice doesn't change *that* much after words. You could be associating Dante's voice with Zuko and seeing it come out of another character could have a certain "mindfuck" quality to it.
