This isn't about episode 10 but + Show Spoiler + Sokka as the councilmen says he once fought a fire bender who could bend with his mind with only his boomerang. Is this from TLA? If so what episode? If not I kind of hope they delve into that more. The "special" benders like yakone and him are pretty interesting to me. A:TLA spoilers obviously + Show Spoiler + Book 3, episode 12: "The Western Air Temple". Scary Mind Boom Man comes after Aang and his friends (having been hired by Zuko), which is bad because Zuko is on Aang's side now...

It would've been much more meaningful to the fans and the story if they showed some battles, rather than just the council getting abducted and a single fight sequence between team avatar and battle mechs. I wanted to see an all out declaration of war between the good vs evil rather than airships shooting at the ground. This was supposed to be the climax and beginning of the end yet it felt anticlimactic with Amon just clearly steamrolling the city. It was a surprise attack, which if you remember with the police chief and tenzin where talking; he had hit everything simultaneously. Since they took over republic city with such ease, regardless of how much planning and set up it took, that only sets up what team avatar has to accomplish even more. Their entire city was just taken over in a blitz, giving it great tension. Now, wait until the navy gets there for your fight!

The writers spaired no expense in story creation and plot device management in an already kewl universe. So far Korra is doing just as well and I can't wait to see what they do with it :3 for western cartoons, yea. if you think this is impressive you should dabble in some real anime. also why does tenzin have arrows? i thought that was an avatar thing

I've seen most of Full Metal Alchemist and it is excellent, I need to watch brotherhood. My favorites: Cowboy Bebop, Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star and more. Also I need to get into Naruto Shippuden, because Naruto was childish like AtLA but what I've seen of Shippuden it looks leagues better

If you have never read or watched naruto, stay very far away, its not worth the time sink.

Yes there were some childish themes and/or episodes and yes it was made for kids, but most of the series wasn't childish. It would be like calling any of the Pixar films "childish", which isn't really the case. Teenagers and adults can enjoy AtLA and Pixar films because even though they are made for kids, they aren't childish. Naruto on the other hand...I still read the manga, but it was definitely childish...

It is still a good animation though. Better than many animes (though I'm saying many, not most). Though the taste in western television and japanese television is quite different. Western culture seems to be much more about instant gratification, and so all the movies and TV shows seem to be violent/gory/full of sex. Of course, that's not to say anime isn't neither! But at least in US, there are basically 3 kinds of shows: Cartoons for kids, comedy cartoons like Family Guy for mature audiences, and live action, most of which are the latter. The live action shows are either comedic like on disney or basically family friendly, but pretty much any that are action themed are aimed at adults. The difference is that anime can be targeted at kid, teens, or adults, and usually has lots of character development, which is very rarely seen (relatively) in western television and movies. So for those of you who like TLA and legend of korra because of its uniqueness, you might like anime, since part of what makes these 2 series unique [in western animation] is because they have deeper, mature themes, great animation, but ultimately, they have good character development, good storytelling, and actually have messages to convey. (At least, that's what I see in them that make them different). And about anime recommendations I think you should ask in the anime thread or if you care about my opinion you can PM me ^^. I've watched quite a lot of anime and already have written descriptions for each of them (for all the friends that have asked lol) to help you decide if you will like it or not. (will just randomly throw it out there though, don't think that the popular anime are a good representation of anime at all, it's like mainstream music, or mainstream hollywood movies, etc., not everyone likes them, they are simply that -- mainstream, meaning hyped, advertised, milked, and watered down)

Haha, good point. I think gurren lagann is also a good starting one. I showed my friends DN, then CG, then TTGL, they don't watch anime but they loooved those so much. Ofc, i prefer to have them start with the "well done" animes rather than the mainstream shounen ones like bleach naruto one piece which are just quantity over quality for me >.< (idk about manga wise, but anime wise)

What do you mean by never ending? Just wondering because you include FMA in your list.

He said "or well done" So does anyone think they'll make it believable/realistic that the equalists are powerful/numerous enough to take down the united army...? (or at least the part that was sent to defend them) since they're good writers i'm hoping it will be, but i can't really see it happening maybe they'll need to retreat and be "patient" for some reason?

Hard to say, we don't know how big the untied army is exactly. Well, we know that is is probably giant as hell, but I can see if a fight breaks out, it being a very organized force vs the guerrilla tactics of the equalists.
