Still not happy with Hasbro statement, it doesn't address change to the eyes or give a detailed reason for the audio change.
Well, they probably thought the eyes and voice made fun of mentally challenged people, so they changed it. They also clearly state that the reason behind it was because some fans complained.
Yeah, but why is Derpy over the line when Snails, Barking Mad/Loose Screw, Pinkamina, and Lesson Zero Twilight are fine? Is it just because of her eyes?
Wanted to come back to the thread that made me a brony. I visited TL several times a day and this thread popped up all the time 8 months ago. I had no idea what was going, but I checked it out a few times and figured people were mad - or strange... Then, in one of my curious "checks" someone had posted "pony swag", and I figured if someone had gone out of their way to produce something like that, then maybe, just maybe, I'd be missing out on something great - and so I gave it a chance. Since then, TL has been swapped with EqD and I'm struggling to keep ponies from taking up too much time from my studies. I'm loving every bit of it though, Thank you GMarshal and the guy that posted "pony swag" that one time.
So for all the apologist shame-mongering and it-wasn't-their-fault cries to stop harassing the anti-Derpy gripers, they and no-one but they really were the ones solely at blame?
Good to know. I was almost starting to second-guess my judgement of character.

That was a very crazy written sentence and I think I know what your saying.
Those 10 people who emailed hasbro really did screw up an otherwise great episode. also more dizy do derpy naming drama. sad that a few idoits that got mad for supporting the wrong name is responsible for them doing this. Its going to be the original for me as cannon and I won't accept any changes for that.
rofl. So basically a few people thought it was offensive to someone, when the 'someones' didn't find it offensive at all, yet it still had to be changed.
I do agree on a point however. If "derpy" were to mean something bad, the last thing I'd want would be to see children calling eachother 'derpy' in an offensive way.
It does really bother me that people were offended by Derpy but wouldn't have been by Ditzy.
Something people need to realize is that we (as in human beings and speakers of the English language) are the ones who determine what a word means. Words have no intrinsic meaning. "Derpy" could mean "retarded" but only if people actually use it that way. "Ditzy" could easily take on the exact same meaning, especially since it and "derpy" are almost interchangable.
Can anyone find the cave/underground version of where Spike is all like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOoooh!" from episode 19?
I can only find the one for the first time he said it that episode and that one gets cut off even in the actual episode but the second one when he's in the tunnels doesn't.

I searched for "Spike Noooo kyrospawn" (The guy who does all the clips) Second vid hit had a link to the other clip in the description.
God damn executives removing derpy. I don't really care. It was like a one time appearance. They basically nulled the character back in to the background, so nothing has changed.
Whenever I google image search the word 'derp' I see images which draw their humour at the expense of a group of disabled people who are incapable of controling their speech coherently, I think its called a cerebral palsy. It makes sense to me how someone could be offended. While I think Ditzy is a less offensive name, I would've preferred if that scene never aired and that character never had a canon name. We were all happy when derpy/ditzy was not canon, and she didnt need to be. I read some of the letters against the name derpy and I honestly think the arguments are logical and well thought out. They're not whining, and have good reason to feel the way they do. Now while I am not handicapped, and I guess if you used the word derp around me I wouldn't be too offended, but then I gotta leave this quote:
When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out. -Martin Niemoller
Sure very few people were offended in the end, a minority, but its better that way. Atleast it wasn't a large group of people. If people can be offended enough to send mail complaining, the next likely thing to happen is bad rep from media. It could've appeared on Fox news, who knows. Hasbro is covering their asses and I honestly think they are in the right for doing so, and I would also like to think that maybe they are sensitive enough to care about not offending people. The more important question would be whether appeasing a large fanbase is more important than avoiding alienating a minority, in regards to a show targeted at children. Whether Derp is better than Ditzy, that answer has little value. Just some thoughts I thought I'd leave here.
