Fluttershy doesn't randomly scold dragons because Rarity woke up early and made her a nice dress, and Rainbow Dash doesn't make a sonic rainboom because she was hankering to get a slice of a pie Applejack baked. These episodes have climaxes that are built up with plot advancement, not strung together randomly like this one. NOT SURPRISINGLY, this episode (and Over a Barrel) was written by Dave Polsky who's experience is in live-acting where random events are much less believable as a plot gimmick. Definitely bad form, but it played out to be quite funny. 2) Twilight being overly skeptical does fall within her bookworm nature (think back to Zacora and the 'curses' episode where she dismisses the Supernatural Remedies book out of hand), but her 'aha! I told you so/waiting to tell you so!' attitude seemed very out of character. 3) Not sure where you got this from. They traveled to the bog after pinkie has the whole body shakes. Fluttershy going in to the forest is not so far fetched. She did the same for Apple Bloom and the other two fillies and in this particular episode she was carrying out her 'help the animals' duties. She gives off a shy, reserved persona, but when she has to she can be quite strong. 4) I'm not too sure what you are trying to get at with this one. The fact that they hadn't mentioned the hydra previously? I would've found it stranger if they tried to put in a random mention of it somewhere in the episode. Apologies if I misread your point. 5) To be fair, Pinkie Sense only really saved Twilight (maybe Fluttershy as well). Yes the episode does have some flaws, particularly with Twilight's attitude towards Pinkie, but I don't think it's as bad as you make it out to be. edit: And nawwwww Rainbow Dash! + Show Spoiler + I've watched all the episodes and I know that they don't go down to the bog as a direct result of Twilight trying to study Pinkie. I meant that this particular series of events leads them to go to the bog for no reason other than they want to go to the bog to see what Pinkie's premonitions will result in or not. In previous episodes, they never want to go into the Everfree Forest, and the times they have, there have always been clear reasons why they must. I wouldn't travel to a dangerous part of any country because someone I knew for a few weeks/months told me that something good would come out of it. Also, what I meant by the fourth point is that the dangers of the Everfree Forest aside from this one were believable up to a point. I could see a parallel to Ponyville/Everfree Forest to a world like John Wyndam's Chrysalids where people live in peace and security from dangers in a settlement and all of said dangers coexist outside. I could imagine that the various creatures of the Everfree forest live in competition with each other and that's what's keeping them from going into Ponyville and eating ponies. I fail to see what's stopping this enormous murderous serpent from taking a 10 minute walk and pillaging/eating everything in Ponyville. And the last point I made was that this brand new power hitherto never discovered and hereafter never seen (kind of like the hydra) manages to not only save the lives of two innocent ponies but also teaches a lesson in belief and faith. I find it the episode a bit much to grasp when compared to other episodes when I look at it like that. That's pretty funny, Rarity/Fluttershy in a bitch-off. That brought a small tear to my eye... ;_ ; | ||

Whether it's through magic or combat this is achieved is also speculated. But I mean, if you can raise the sun... Also, it's speculated that if both were to fall, both Luna and Celestia, the example might have to be given again... and that could me a lot of terrorizing from the creatures. | ||

+ Show Spoiler + Luna will be returning in the second seasons, according to some official word. The fans have been clamoring for her to make another appearance, and it seem the writers listened (as they seem to do with this show). Hopefully its another large role! | ||
